Germany/Austria August/September information sharing.

We have found a cracking Stellplatz in a small town with neat little corner shop and a dedicated free library for M'homes users. Free services except water, 1 Euro and lecce per Kw. Also, were only 20 minutes away from little Berlin. A small town decided by the East/West border wall and lookout towers, plus museum and will visit after a late breakfast then return here for showers and more use of services. Once again, another beautiful day.

Is that the SP at Leupoldsgrün? Sounds like it could go on our "next time in Germany" list

Mödlareuth looks well worth a visit.

Cheers

Swimming pool. Easily described as uninspiring

Fueling up at Globus Zell?
Fuel cheaper at end of day. Could be as much as 5 cents a litre difference in price.

The BOC is very good.
Initial service best described as awful waiting for 40 mins to buy bikes then i moaned and out came the manager and said we were better off with cheaper bikes that do the same job so they are just doing them up for an hour then i have to pay.

They may not have your size in stock and it is 3 days delivery from Hamburg if you know what you want. Choice of 6 e bikes under 2000 euros for wife got a 400 kwh as her smallness limited choice for 2000 and i have a 500 kwh for 2200 trekking bike.

Pics and details later.

When we got service it was excellent but very annoying when we didnt.

1km off motorway.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated.

Imgenbroich is about 10 kms from monschau and 30 from aachen and the diesel was 94.9 here yesterday
Total garage by a roundabout 50.575386, 6.261991

We filled up there yesterday afternoon at that price. Two hours later it was up to 99.9. Went past this morning and it was 101.9!

We stayed here in Imgenbroich, and would recommend it. They have a booking contact form and were quick and helpful.

We are now halfway to the tunnel. Fingers crossed should take us about 3hrs 45 to Calais.

Autogas was €0.52pl up there this morning with Diesel at around €1.02pl. En route we have seen it at €1.00.

Cheers,

Jock. 🙂

Yes! You are correct.

Today, a visit to Little Berlin, or its proper name, Modlareuth. This tiny town was split in two when East Germany put up a wall along the border which was in fact designated by a tiny stream. Today, one side of the stream is Bavaria and the other Thuringi. Also an opportunity to see a Russian T34 up close, which was in surprisingly good condition and a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Loads and loads of information boards with pictures and in English & German. All free too. Apart from the museum which was closed today and costs about 3 Euros to watch a film that is worth seeing.

We have arrived at Aachen ready for the dash home tomorrow plenty of spaces at the moment. Filled with Shell @€1.05 and gas at €0.62 in town on way in. Still cheaper than home and hopefully less chance of dirty gas we got last year at supermarket.
Few pictures of our last few days.

We are on Eurotunnel next Sunday then wandering around for a month. First couple of nights on a site in the Eiffel then head South on the Weinstrasse for a couple of days and then the Black Forest. Heading over towards Fussen or Garmisch then North on the Romantic Route.
I have seen your comments about how busy it is, but hoping that will ease towards the end of the month.
Thanks for this thread. Has been invaluable.

We are also travelling out on Sunday and doing the same route as you but the opposite way round :D

We are off into aachen today to try and buy a couple of e bikes.
If successful coming back this way to try them out. If not then probably shooting home.
Cant find rohren. Still in eifel ?
Hope you find the bikes you're looking for.
The Stellplatz at Rohren is Camper Contact site code 78483. It's a very nice spot. No facilities except toilets, which we didn't inspect. All was well until about 6am, when someone delivered 2 huge metal containers to the car park☹
Would stay there again, though and there"d be plenty of opportunity for you to try out ebikes there.

After a bit of indecision this morning, we decided to risk it and head for Trier. Plenty of room on the Stellplatz, but you need a PhD to operate the card payment system.

We'll move further south tomorrow.

Would have been there today if I had not partaken of too much falling down juice, it will still be there tomorrow.

No room at Traben - Trarbach SP, and one at Bernkastel Kues is closed, so we are at Zeltingen. There are 4x Brit Reg Nos here, with us and garjanco, Neil S, and his pal Rob. €10 incl 16A EHU per 24hrs. 👍

Cheers,

Jock. 🙂
13 km downriver from us.

Left the huge stellplatz at Enkirch, on Mosel this morning. See photo from nice walk above. Went south-east for an hour to Bad Sobernheim following some recommendations on here. Drove past the old F16 hangars at Frankfurt-Hahn airport on the way. This airport, 70 miles from Frankfurt, is now sadly on hard times since its Ryanair heyday 10+ years ago.
31 degrees now; 33 tomorrow. Only met two Brits in a week.

Visited Nordlingen today, very quaint, enjoyed the circular walk and a coffee and Kirsch Waffle in the town square.

We discovered a beautiful free SP in Oettingen, with services, so decided to move home.

Here till Thursday.

We ve decided to go for the journey home tomorrow aswell. Probably about 2000 to get home at 2230 hrs and then run the batteries flat on new bikes in morning.

We managed diesel advertised at 93.9 today. I just couldnt pass it. Got to the pump and it was 94.9. i felt like moaning but i couldnt put my heart into it. Managed 3 euros worth of adblue as well at 50 cents.

We moved on from Fussen today and we've ended up in Vipterio in Italy (via Brenner) .. tomorrow were gonna spend a few days at camping Sexten which has been highly recommended .. weathers great and we are in the car park of a big euro spar with a load of Germans .. allies gut innit

We have had a good couple of days in Bad Liebenzell. Great town but rammed at the weekend. We are on the main campsite, loads of space here and on the MH parking outside. Lidl shop next door first thing and a fill up opposite (0.99 litre) and heading back towards Aachen. Kaiserslautern area is my target for tomorrow.

I forgot to mention about the bikes we bought.

They took 60 euros off each bike.
It might be because we are members of mhf or it could be that they didnt have to post them.

So if you see one on their website and are picking it up in stall take 60 euros off the advertised price.

If you want a specific one in a specific store give them at least 3 days notice

And remember to bring a 3 pin to 2 pin adaptor or 2
