Germany/Austria August/September information sharing.

Moved on down the road to Obertsrot, free SP on P4N and S4S, some electric, thats it. Plenty of space. Had a massive big kid moment and visited the Unimog Museum (awesome!).

Met a British couple that are full timing.

Off to Baden Baden and Bad Wildbad for a visit tomorrow.

Cheers Bannock, Chris and RedView attachment 422714View attachment 422715
We might be passing each other tomorrow.
Tandem is in repair shop and if good to pick up heading to muggenstorm just north of you and next to lake (free) before that weingut near katlsruhe. May venture into baden baden as well

Bad Durkheim usually has a massive wine festival and fair this time of year
I assume this year its been curtailed but a lot of folk will have booked their places on the site from last year and decided to go anyways.
In a normal year it attracts about 600,000 over a couple of weekends
We were there last year and it was an experience :Eeek:

We were there for a week this time last year when social distancing was unheard of.
How times change

Busman must be hopping over the border fairly soon, he will update what it was like.

If you do a search under his name leaving the words blank then I am sure he recently put up a link to the rules for entering germany from foreign (to them) countries. Possibly in this thread a couple of pages back

Edit. found it
Here you go

Left Bergues around 11 and arrived at the Nurburgring about 5 , stopped on D9 parking. Got the bike out and went down to the entrance for the ‘ring but it was closed due to an accident, did a loop round the area via Bad Neuenahr and Adenau mainly to get used to it prior to going for a lap or two. 😜

If you're planning on campsite at Seefeld it was closed this summer for re-development. Not sure if it's re-opened yet

Kev and Ju and ourselves are looking at getting to Reil about next Friday night. Save us a couple of pitches!!

Dumb question - can English language sats be picked up on the site? We have a Maxview on a tripod but if nothing useful can be received then I'll leave it at home.

Also, their website says no WC facilities?? Are there any nearby?

Thanks

We booked online three days ago and I believe (well, the website said) we got the last pitch. It's really busy round here
I dont think my original plan of doing that stretch would have worked looking at how busy that is. Have fun down there.

When you ask about WC facilities, if you are just after a dump for your cassette that is available by lifting the drive over drain.

If you want actual toilets they are being fixed. Dave is supervising Madam Mayors supervision of the building works for new toilets and showers, but by the sounds of the lack of wifi, somebody needs to supervise him !

I know slightly less than diddly squat about sat tv apart from you need a 1 metre dish (so i am told)

Interesting that Matt Hancock last week said our numbers were stable, only EU countries rising 😉. Good to see raw data.

I would say its quite reasonable. We havent struggled for a space but we try to get in ant move during weekends.
Others have found full stells.
Keep away from the obvious sites and have a b and c plan and its good to go (imv)

It was busy last week where we were in Alpirsbach, but this week not as much as a lot left yesterday; so now plenty of spaces in the site.

We are now heading for Lake Constance.

Thanks for that. Sounds promising. We haven't decided where to head, yet. We were at Bodensee last September and one possibility is to head down there again because it's so beautiful and the cycling is so easy .
The only problem is that everyone else thinks so too .

We and others are enjoying Reil, but sadly it’s still full with some not finding a spot and going elsewhere, others get lucky and arrive just as a van pulls out. The toilets and the imbess are closed this year. You will probably need an antenna to get constant signal as well, it’s hit and miss on 4g.

We’ve dropped further south, to much cycle tracks and not enough hills , I live in the lakes and cycle tracks are nice on the rivers hear In Germany but just missing my hills like hardknott 👍
