Germany/Austria August/September information sharing.

We moved up to Koblenz yesterday and got in at Landstein €11 a night, easy 8k on bikes to town, lots of old buildings to see and took a trip on the cable car to the fortress. Fortress was good but as no audio at the moment all in german.

We did not find any spaces in campsites or stellaplatz Yesterday -spent all day looking as we drove here( Bad Ems) from Aachen. Have enough water and battery for a second night in this car park . Going to Koblenz on train today will get off early Sunday attempt to find a space heading to Boppard ....

Just got into Emmendingen. Loadsaspace considering weekend with semi reasonable weather.
Havent struggled at all for overnight.
Last night in middle of nowhere it was full for designated 25 spots but room for another 50 or even 100 if they were french.

This is probably a stupid question...but I’m struggling to find clear information ...
If we travel through France (or Belgium) to Germany , is there a quarantine period in Germany itself?
My understanding is , yes for Belgium, but no for France ( except for journeys that have been through Paris)
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Nope your ok. You can check it out here

Sue , as far as I understand, restrictions apply to just a couple of areas of Belgium, one being Antwerp. I'm sure I've read about another area too, but I can't find where I read it. The Robert Koch Institute seems to be the place to get up-to-date info. re entry into Germany.
At any rate, I'm pretty sure it doesn't apply to the areas around the usual transit routes through Belgium from Calais.
Hope not! We're off next Saturday .

Moved on to a nice vineyard, bit of a flat car park but nicely laid out overlooking the vines, went to a another nearby but only had spaces in centre so moved onto here.

It appears from the link that Busman kindly posted that Luxembourg is now on Germany’s list of High Risk countries. So no stopping for fuel etc.

That’s helpful
From the govt website I think entry from France is ok
Ploughing through the information for entry from Belgium is like walking through mud in wet wellies ☹️

We stayed last night at Bad Durkheim, west of Mannheim (saw your review suavecarve). Full but probably like the UK, because its the weekend. There always seems space for one more though. Irish families pulled up late on with caravans and no one seemed to mind. They were on the way home after grape picking. Seemed a decent quiet lot.

Now at the stellplatz on the river Neckar at Hirschhorn. Its 12:30 pm and there are still one or two spaces next to the river with electricity. Unless there is a rush later there would be plenty of room for more without power. Pay in the Sports Bar from 14:00 on.

Will be interesting to see what it's like midweek as we move south.

Its rammed here at Reil and has been like that since we arrived with daily arguments caused by the odd A'hole trying to squeeze in between M'homes. The Germans are very quick to respond. Many are turning up and departing again due to lack of spaces. One German told me it will be like this along the whole river as all Germans will be holidaying along here as Germany is so safe. A few Dutch and the odd Brit but mostly Germans and they all seem to have top class motorhomes too.

After someone saying about arriving at the Tunnel too early and being asked for more money, we sat in Folkestone for a while. Get to the terminal and it offers us 13.20 instead of our time of 14.50 for nothing. Woo hoo barrier has just been lifted, now on the 12:50

Does Germany have lots of free camp spots or just the aires and stellplatz? I was planning to spend a few weeks on this trip but don't fancy busy aires much

We are still finding our feet but yesterday we saw shedloads of wilding in stunning areas. Apart from last 2 nights we paid your normal rate for a stell and the one we are on only just started charging.
Do advanced search on s4s lookin in germany for free spots.

I’m heading for Bergues, anyone there and if so is there space ?

We’ve just arrived at Dinkelsbuhl, bleeding hot, yay, plenty of places but all the bigger pitches are full with little vans so had to park across the way

6euro/ night and pay for electric water etc, quick drink and food and head into the town, we’ve stayed away from the Mosel this year and trying a bit of the romantic route 👍

After visiting Monschau on the bike, from Hellenthal ParkingPlatz (only 3 other vans overnight, loads of space) we headed for Bad Sobernheim Stellplatz, it was ram full, even if we could have got in it was not for us, at all, so we emptied the Black and took 80ltrs of water for 1 Euro. A quick search on S4S and P4N provided several Wild options, we plumped for one 19km away, we're here on our own (21:50), the Tawny's are calling, the river is running and it's very peaceful, listed as #112775 on P4N, very close to Fischbach on the K30 (ignore road closed signs).

edit: The cafe was not serving food at 19:00 when we arrived, but, it seems, there is a fantastic, non road 5Km dog walk from the site.

Cheers
Chris, Red and Bannock.

Directly north from you is that suspension bridge. Suggest going in on bike for it if you go for it. Pics on page 1 2 or 3.
North east is a wild spot at volcanic lake. A few harmless hippies in car park. Great swim and dog walking area. Miles from anywhere

Went for a bike ride out from the Stellplatze at Oberstdorf. Took a wrong turn and ended up climbing a really steep road, it was very pretty at the top. I'd highly recommend a stay in the town, its gorgeous. Everyone's on ebikes though, so if you are pedaling like us, you will have to resign yourself to being constantly overtaken on the steep bits 🥵

Doing some research on Kalrsruhe as off to that Weingut on Monday or Tuesday and found this https://www.schlosslichtspiele.info/ which is a light show that they broadcast each night.
We saw one live at Amiens Cathedral a couple of years ago and it was amazing.
Still trying to work out if it is possible to turn up and see it live.

How easy/difficult is it to get pumped LPG in Germany please?
Incredibly easy if you have the attachment, slightly harder but not that bad if you dont.

The bigger the garage the more likely they are to carry the converters. You take yours in having parked and looked at the machine, then wonder in, look at the easily led attendant, tip your head down and slightly lower it to the left but look up with your eyes in a doleful manner with a coy smile, a little cleavage helps as well as you present your non adaptable adaptor and he will, like putty in your hands, find you an adaptor.

My daughters are experts in this.
