Germany/Austria August/September information sharing.

right then - last day at work tomorrow and just booked the tunnel for early Sun. Plan to aim for Aachen and pick a spot when the weekenders all wander off at mid day. Pick up the Mosel and Bimble South to see some regular haunts and some new ones. We usually keep going to Fussen and then on to the lakes so a little different this year. Have 2 weeks and reallllllly looking forwards to it. Watching this thread with interest - some great info (y)

We booked the campsite that Crazy Legs kindly recommended last night. They rang this morning and said they can't host anyone who has been in Great Britain in the last 14 days and cancelled our booking.
They said it was a state requirement.

What campsite was this?

Right, we checked the state website and emailed them back, as we thought they hadn't realised it is only Gibraltar on the list and not the whole UK. They have just rang us to say 'sorry the guidance isn't clear in German' and they got it wrong. They have reinstated the booking.
Phew.

We stayed at Dorf. Somewhere near tittisee. Failed to find anywhere to mend spokes. Got motorbike out. Stunning scenery. Think we have found "dangerous road" to do on motorbike. No internet where we stay 10 euros

We moved on today from Altenahr only Twenty mile to Remagen got on the Stellplatz was busy but plenty of places, seriously humid today, which is quite pleasant after getting thoroughly peed on yesterday walking the red wine trail578D7333-B504-461A-828A-06595EA48A8B.jpeg

Tasty little Keller beer made with honey I was informed, quite strong compared to my English tipples but have found that with most German/ Belgium beers

The square at Ramegen, had a very good flamencuchen at Schroeder’s, can highly recommend
Moving South tomorrow but not decided where yet👍

All Stella and campsites here full😱but found a park for night place In Bad Ems-car park not too great no facilities but at least somewhere to sleep! No internet so saving roaming xx

On 01:22 train, crossed the border this morning at Aschen, and continued down to Hellenthal, nice, quiet, free Parkingplatz on P4N and S4S.

We are just about to descend this baby. 2900 metres long. 20 euros for the pair of us including lift up. Rodenbahl at Totnau. On the map

I ve given up on france.
More chance of me winning the lottery and the pools in the same week as them being q14less before October
Us too. We had a wonderful time in Italy and Germany. Then intending to go to Scotland next week. Our plans for later this autumn were to visit friends in France and stay on a few aires but we won't go unless our travel insurance is operative and it looks very unlikely that the FCO will change its current advice.Even though back from Germany I am still reading this thread with interest, my thanks to all posters.

Ah yes we saw that when we walked to the waterfalls, we were stopping in Tittisee got the bus up there, looked good but we had the dogs with us so couldn’t do it hope it went well 👍

how long did it take ?.. Leaving from Grantham Saturday night

Not turning out as we'd hoped - Germany is full !! Stayed at Heidelberg Platz last night and got the last place. Headed south towards Bavaria today and tried 2 ACSI sites en-route just off the 7 south of ULM - both full. Decided to head all the way to Fussen and now parked up on a lay by for the night after trying just about every Platz and Campsite in the area to no avail. Not sure what to do tomorrow ??

That doesn't sound good, Bovisand . Have you tried Stellplaetze or are you just looking at campsites?
You'll probably find it is much quieter on Monday, but that doesn't help you with the next 2 nights.
You may have more luck if you try for a Stellplatz.
Good Luck 🤞

Bovisand, we are in a Stellplatze in Oberstdorf. Toilets, showers, very hard to like staff, but right in the centre of town and near one of those luge things. Its packed but there is some turnover. PM me if you think it might suit and I'll let you know where and how many spaces.

Thanks for that, but in the opposite direction to our hoped route - toward Italy via Mittenwald & Brenner. All very uncertain now.

That luge thing we did was awesome. Those of you who have read previous comments by me know i am a tfg.
20 euros was way above my anticipated price as we have done a few before less than 7 euros for the pair of us.
It opens 0900 to 1630. Put mask on to pay having filled out cv paperwork. Parking is free but dont take the turning in town. About 400 yards up the hill towards tittisee or feldberg is an entrance to p2. That is best fir motorhomes. There is an aure next to road for 10 euros with cameras. Far better aires around for same price or some freebie stops with great views that we spotted yesterday.
Anyway there is a choice of walking up to save 10 euros. Stuff that. Chair lifts were invented for a reason. If you think you can do it try to think you can only see half way.
Get off and join queue. We joined at the 90 minute mark. It was about 45 mins from here and no shade or wind protection (no wind yesterday) so be prepared.
Wife and i go down together normally to get more speed. That would be a poor decision here if that was your motive. I dont apply brakes ever on these things.
There is no choice if you want unsoiled underwear but to apply brakes. It is fast and loads of 180 and this coil that must be 900+.
If you have a granny going slowly they hold you up so you get a decent ride. I did catch wife up as she caught ppl in front up and it was quite a nice breather tbh. You get back up "i m not going stay on round this corner" speed quite quickly.
As soon as we got off i had forgotten about the finances. Great value.

Choose the weather stay away from weekends be prepared for queue. Take camera. It says no videos but i hung our bridge camera round neck tightened straps so it would face forward and lady at top never mentioned it. Shame it didn't record. There were a few Fs and a couple of blasphemes. Wife even said she swore. Thinking about it first 400 yards was easy
