Germany/Austria August/September information sharing.

1 day left at the grindstone, so 24hrs until we set off for the Chunnel, drive through the night for 7:50 train, hopefully quiet run down the motorways, quick kip in France then into Germany, would like to think the weather will be kind, Eifel area first for a mooch about then start heading south.🌞

Ok, on our way. Got the 17.20 train, for our revised trip (instead of France/Spain) to Italy via a week or two in Germany. Really eerie at the passenger terminal, hardly anybody around and not a Caravan or Motorhome in sight. Virually empty train apart from freight. Will head towards the Mosel area first and hope to call at the rolling meet at Reil. Just settled down for the night at an excellent free Tire in Berques - close to Dunkirk.

might see you there in the morning. We are likely to be stopping at that one for a kip. Should be able to catch train about 0800 hrs to be at Bergues for about 1000 hrs local time and miss the Lille traffic !

Has anyone tried the non-toll route through the Brenner pass (the 182 I think) and found it suitable for MoHo?

Done this one a couple of times - 7.5 m and no issues other than a couple of suicidal coaches.

Inside due to the million wasps

Intresting you mention that. We’ve never seen so many wasps as we did over there this year. The even odder thing was they were more interested in meat than sweat stuff. The locals really appeared to be struggling with them.

The btinternet email address I used was unsuccessful for the link, but the gmail address was successful.

Have you checked your bulk/junk folder, in case it ended up as spam?

Good luck,

Jock. :)

I m a bit stuffed for a bit on map sharing as cant do it from my phone.

I think all the people who have access have the ability to share it.

Open the map in "my maps" and hit the share button then write the email address in if you get a little pop up with that address in it has worked. Click send.

@motorhomesRus should have it but if someone else could try sending the link to him by getting his email addy as i might be only allowed to send it to so many ppl and that is why it hasnt worked. Another option of failure is we may only be allowed 20 people who are editors so invite him as a view only..

Currently on tunnel

Bergues in the rain. Tunnel was empty got put on earler one again. Roads were like lakes in places with a bmw perpendicular to traffic in fast lane.

You are indeed, that's us in the Hymer. Say hello when you surface - unless we are gone. Heading to Hans Sur Lesse in Belgium for our next stop 50.12777, 5.1875

Please prove me wrong............but I am guessing touring in Germany is now not possible following their decision on the 26th to put the UK on their 'International Risk Countries' list. Or am i reading this wrongly and it only applies to certain states? We are planning on leaving the UK on the 4th Sept.

My info taken from https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/InfAZ/N/Neuartiges_Coronavirus/Risikogebiete_neu.html

You win todays prize for making my heart sink the furthest !!!
Phew😅

Hopefully not too much a 'thickie' question.... looks like you cant use UK credit cards in Germany [certainly at most stellaplatzes?] can you use them in shops etc? Also does anyone know if the stels take notes as previous posts imply change only ...Thank you

Some coins only, some take notes. Not sure if any change is given though.
Oh a some do accept uk cards

So no real help. Sorry

Cards were ok every where except Imbiss at Rurberg. But Germans still like cash, even big restaurants. Odd

The ones I remember were Gengenbach took uk card payment, but also took notes, and coins. (Watched others bay this way). Rurberg was coins only as didn‘t take UK cards, but no notes slot. 15€ in coins 😩😩

For those of you who may want to know current Covid situation for Germany and where to find official updates.

Entry rules in response to coronavirus (COVID-19)
Entry to Germany
There are now no general COVID-19-related restrictions on entry into Germany from elsewhere in the EU, the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. Entry restrictions and heightened checks on Germany’s borders for those arriving by land or air from these countries expired on 15 June. For Spain, the restrictions on entry (by air) were lifted on 21 June.

The German Interior Ministry has confirmed that travellers from the UK are no longer required to demonstrate a valid reason in order to enter Germany. Standard German entry and immigration rules in place before the COVID-19 outbreak apply.

I have just had an email from Eurotunnel saying I can’t depart Folkestone on September 8th at 1220.
They have changed my booking to 1250 the same day. I wonder why that train is no longer available ?
For the sake of 30 mins was it worth telling me ?
