From Spain to Norway - the long way round

They by-passed it and went through the town :(

Next thing to look out for is Salvador, a lunatic Spaniard, possibly at the top of the col!!!

We're off to northern Portugal next week and plan to see one of the mountain stages in Asturias on the way..

We're now at Ulvick. Did @Jenben s "blue roundabout in a tunnel" and we're parked in their very spot. Look who's out next to the water after stocking up on tackle in the Co-op!!! He's lost most of his original stock.

Two differences the hedge has grown and the blue sky has gone!

You may see a float plane take off there Judith, it was parked behind the hotel.

We've seen it come in to land. One way to beat the bridge and tunnel tolls.

We've moved now! To the "official" parking a little further along the road ... because it's a different place to try fishing from

Yep we struggled to find the official spot but there was a lot of roadworks/building going on, so we suspected it wasnt useable:-)

It used to be a gravelled area but it's recently been tarmacced. Maybe that was part of the roadworks?

Both places seem acceptable to use. Others have stayed next to the church according to reviews on CC.

Yes that's what we read on CC , we checked in the TO that we were ok to park up on that top. We also did the fjord cruise from there, managed to pick a day when no cruises were in the area and so we were their only passengers.

It's soooo quiet here today. I know the weather isn't great but there's hardly a soul around. For us that's great. Maybe we'll have company here later but the church parking is the first place people see and I expect they'll pull in there.

I read with interest some past postings referring to The catching or not catching fish here in Norway....Well as rightly stated "He's gone a little quiet" comment is correct...
You never hear a defeated team stating just how bad they were last Saturday, or the defeated army who lost a war...and these rules apply to me....An aspiring Fisherman who failed to catch fish in an area which even the most novice of fishermen cannot fail.
Well it looks like I have...I continue to offer these easily catchable creatures a choice of coloured, shiny and spinning 360° lures...how can they resist....the weeds like them, the rocks devour them in great numbers..the shop assistants continue to sell them to me with a smile, as if to say, NO CHANCE BUDDY,
but perhaps I see it as a good luck, see you tomorrow to replace the lost items.
Well I am now down to the last 2...you could say save the best til last...but the best left me more than a week ago....cannot remember if it was weed or rock, but I try to convince myself it was a 25 kg Cod...fighting the novice fisherman and winning fins down, just like he has done on many an occasion.
So can I be lured again into the shop of plenty and meet the assistant who greets me with.."Is it the usual sir?"...I am beginning to understand the false smile now....I may say no thankyou...just a tin of Tuna thanks.
This way I get my fish afterall....

David's just posted an oddity on his thread. Here's ours for today.

Eating breakfast. Clump, clump, clump, outside the van!!!

Looking out we see a very nicely dressed, including boots with heels, Japanese lady out jogging!!! She very kindly did four circuits around our van before heading back to the village.

Love the top!!!

BTW got our own back with the photo as we were featured (as an oddity???) in many of their photos last night

Just read yesterday's entries. Now I know what fishermen have to go through.

Martin, its calling fishing not chatching, the funs in doing it, apparantly:whistle:

just spotting your comments on TV channels, have you been able to get any TV up here, we haven't bothered every night but not once that we tried when we thought there were no trees in the way have we got a thing, including back down in Sweden where we should have good line of sight

doesn't matter, but wonder if we should expect satellite TV this far up

Not really in the UK footprint for satellite but Wendy often used iPlayer etc. to catch up when we were on sites. The wifi was normally very quick even in the Arctic Circle.

We've only had satellite TV since we've been south, although its probably possible to get Sky News anywhere. BUT I'm no expert.

We drove over towards Voss after breakfast. The plus point of sunshine and showers is a rainbow. Not such a good photo but I'm not apologising for it!!!

We met Jan and Eli after interpreting some vague instructions. We're now in the cabin and have had more wine for lunch than we've had for the rest of the trip. AND we've got dinner to do yet!!!

Tarmac road turned into gravel.

We arrived at the farm where we thought we were going to park but the farmer was expecting a lorry later sooo we drove higher. We have a nice parking place not far from the cabin. Photos to follow ...

Tunnels...single track roads...now off roading with Hymer...what next...as some time I have to turn the van and head back down the valley...but thats two sleeps away...if I can get any.....Worried man...

what about the goasts of fishies past....I here they hunt the mountians......

From the farm where we thought we were going to park we took the track at the top of the photo going diagonally left! (See earlier photo).

We arrived here.

After much interference from the farmer. He likes to have his two kroners worth apparently. We walked from here to the cabins up the "new road" and decided that was also doable so we're now here.

This is where we ski-id last time we were here!

And we're just above the cabins. A short walk down a new path that we're going to be working on today as well as splitting logs and picking berries!

IMG_20170831_071301308.jpg

We're so high we're above the clouds.

Anyone fancying the drive up here we (or rather Eli) can negotiate a toll fee with the farmer

Brilliant you could have chips with your fish (y)

Realise the flaw in this plan is that you need to catch some fish first.....:)
