flightradar24

2 Apaches heading south near Sutton Coldfield towards BHX. Looks like they've been playing east of Stafford
Both Apaches, Viper 1 & 2, now inbound Rwy 23 at Wattisham.
Viper 2 has just turned over our house onto approach and Viper 1 can just be heard in the distance on a 5 mile trail.

Home in time for tea and medals. (y)

Excellent timing by my good self there as I flicked on the flight radar app I saw a McDonnell Douglas F-15E Eagle looking like it was heading for Edinburgh. Quickly popped outside and saw 3 of them flying right over head. 2 obviously with transponders off. Boy they were motoring.

I'm fair trickett :giggle:

Well they went as far as Fort William, turned and came back so I went out again to try and see them. Heard them but couldn't clock them this time :(

Probably coincidence but there’s also a Kuwait Air Force C17 circling over the Cotswolds at the moment. Maybe headed for Brize ?

I see it. Interesting. Is there anywhere where the reasons are logged?
I'm sure there is but my level of aviation geekyness doesn't stretch that far. I do know most of the times planes squawk the 7700 (general emergency) code it is not a serious matter. Anything from a fault error code in the cockpit to a medical issue with a passenger.

Phew! The annihilation of our illustrious leader doesn't bear thinking about!
The pilot probably heard that Siân was home and decided that it wasn’t worth it :xrofl:

We get quite a lot of military activity overhead, much of it related to Donna Nook bombing range not far away, so always interesting to see what it is

There were a couple of F15’s playing offshore earlier at 41000 feet and 545 knots…..

Just had a look and at that altitude it equates to Mach 0.95………

Lots of activity inbound and US bound to and from the US Naval base at Rota near Cadiz over the last week.
Three in bound transports this morning, last week two carrier based transports, Grumman Greyhounds, followed each other in.At least 2 transport flights daily, we can hear them from our campsite near Tavira, the different noises from the jets and turbo prop's is easy to identify.
Strengthening the US Mediterranean fleet in readiness for a potential conflict in Ukraine?

I often see those coming out of Waddington. I think they are used for training of aircrews.

Apparently Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance. God that’s a mouthful

Thats my theory blown but thinking about them flying from Waddington that makes more sense with the connection to the drone control centre there.

I see the flyboys have gone home for Christmas. There won’t be much military traffic until the NewYear now.
When I was stationed in Germany it was a standing joke that the Russians could invade Wednesday afternoon or from Friday lunch time until Monday or between Christmas and NewYear because there would be nobody around.
