An old fire truck?

I have a friend who is currently converting one of those; he has chopped off the rear of the crew cab to give a larger platform for the box. Unfortunately, you’d need to be on FB to follow their (Orkney Overlanders) build.

Ian
Yes an old firetruck . I see loads of them on my travels with all manner of boxes etc on the back . I used to have Orkney overlanders on Instagram but I deleted all my Instagram pages on Christmas day.

I now only do polarsteps and this forum ....that's it.

Tam, as regards other people, as your paths cross, enjoy their company until such times as your paths diverge. Look for no deeper meanings nor intentions.
Plough your own furrow, as you usually do
Yep that's what I'm doing.

How far have you got to go to get your paintwork done and do you have a timescale to get there etc. 👍
Not that far from here really but I'm not going there quite yet . I've a friend back home that might fly out to agadir on 18th for a week , not confirmed either way yet. There's a few places I'll go back to down the coast first and then depending if he's coming or not will decide when I go to tafroute. But I plan to be in tafroute by the end of January for sure as I expect I'll be there a couple of weeks. I'm going to do other jobs on the van while paintwork is being done. But paintwork itself is entirely dependent on price and if it will be good quality. If I go there and look at jobs they're doing and I'm not impressed I won't be getting it done there. Or it'll just be front bumper painted grey . Will have to wait and see till I'm there.

At the moment it's undecided how long I'll stay in Morocco....I have to play it by ear. But 2 months max ...I'll be back in Spain by 01/03 regardless.

We had our motorhome fixed in Tafroute, on the first day they were on the job.
so we went for walk.
Next day went out for a walk, on return no work done.
The third day we went out for the day again, on return no work done!
On the fourth day had a chat with the owner and hung around, work completed the next couple of days.
Very happy with what they did, quote in Penrith a couple of years earlier £2000.
When we had the repairs done more damage and pealing paintwork.
£300 all done.
Came home and sold it. ( before i damaged it again 👍)

Yes from what I've seen and heard that's quite common. They start the job straight away so you have to stay and get it done. They don't turn work away so they then juggle between multiple vehicles. I think you have to negotiate a deadline straight off the bat. So as I said the price and how long they quote to do the work I want will decide what work I get them to do as I've a price in mind and a timescale in mind. 2 weeks is the max time I want to stay there.

That's more my type of place, but I can find places like that without going all the way to Morocco, with its associated hassle.

I'm glad you're in a happier place now though.

Truth be told if it wasn't for the 90 days restriction I'd spend 6 months in Spain and Portugal one year and 6 months in Greece the next year on rotation.

If I still had eu rights that's what I'd be doing.

After this trip I need to look in to alternative methods for doing Spain as 3 months isn't long enough and I don't think I'll be returning to morroco again after this trip.

That 6 months French visa people have used may need to be an option

Or the alternative is simply to give up and change lifestyle again as its getting harder to do.

On another note. This spot is overall so peaceful I'm reluctant to move . I planned to move today but I just know I'm going to find it difficult to find somewhere with no beggers, strays or hassles.

I've plenty food , water etc so no real reason to move other than a change of scenery. So I'm undecided.

Very cloudy day today though , haven't seen a glint of the sun .

Take a day or two to just breathe.

With your lifestyle Tam if you do give up after 6-12 months you will be hankering to get another Motorhome and start travelling again, it’s in your blood.

Hi Tam...Martin here..been catching up a little on your thread....
We are vanless just now as we are having our scabby bodywork resprayed...mainly sun damage on an 18 year old Hymer... expecting it to be finished this week..no big problem as we have the apartment...
Guy sends us progress photos every day...but it's raining a little today...so no work..
When we get it back I need to do my bit...jobs to reduce the weight....don't know if you read Judith's thread...but I've listed my job list on there...another holiday today in Spain...back to normal tomorrow....👑👑👑🥳

Who says you need to move...
Practice that mindfulness I was waffling to you about on the phone the other day...
There is no past, its gone and the future hasn't arrived yet so we only have the here and now, this exact moment... 😉

Why is three months not enough, it's more than enough for me .?

Tam

As I have been advising people for some time, one option is to apply for Residence in an EU country. That would give you unlimited time in that country. In theory you would be restricted to 90/180 in the other Schengen countries, but with no internal border checks in practice that is not enforceable nor enforced. We spent more than 90 days outside Poland this year. It was in two trips so after the first trip, with no checks, we knew that there was no record of that trip, so it had not happened.

You would have to decide which country to pick in respect of re-registering the MH and yourself, and Spain and Portugal seem to be especially difficult. Maybe Greece or one of the smaller countries like Slovakia.

You would need a nominal address, but maybe some kind MHFun member could oblige.

I found it was very easy here even though I have no property rights here, neither rental nor ownership, If asked if you have a property or are 'Resident' in any other country(UK has no official status of 'Resident) you can truthfully say 'No'

You would have to do research into which country suits you.

I love Spain, here right now actually. Regardless of the 90 days issue the bigger issue is weather and being able to get into places. For the next 3 months even the camper stops are likely to be rammed. Whereas we go into Morocco and the weather once past casablanca is mostly considerably warmer and drier and no hassle finding places.

Because you live in a house I live in a motorhome
