Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

As I have been advising people for some time, one option is to apply for Residence in an EU country. That would give you unlimited time in that country. In theory you would be restricted to 90/180 in the other Schengen countries, but with no internal border checks in practice that is not enforceable nor enforced. We spent more than 90 days outside Poland this year. It was in two trips so after the first trip, with no checks, we knew that there was no record of that trip, so it had not happened.

You would have to decide which country to pick in respect of re-registering the MH and yourself, and Spain and Portugal seem to be especially difficult. Maybe Greece or one of the smaller countries like Slovakia.

You would need a nominal address, but maybe some kind MHFun member could oblige.

I found it was very easy here even though I have no property rights here, neither rental nor ownership, If asked if you have a property or are 'Resident' in any other country(UK has no official status of 'Resident) you can truthfully say 'No'

You would have to do research into which country suits you.

Geoff
All easier before 2021 Geoff.

Now you need more money than I have to get residency in many eu countries.

That's why I've not done it . I believe Portugal to be my best option for that in the future .

But at present I only want to spend 6 months in and 6 months out till I have a better plan .

I love Spain, here right now actually. Regardless of the 90 days issue the bigger issue is weather and being able to get into places. For the next 3 months even the camper stops are likely to be rammed. Whereas we go into Morocco and the weather once past casablanca is mostly considerably warmer and drier and no hassle finding places.
Because I wild park outwith campsites and aires etc I actually find it easier to find parkups in Spain than I do in Morocco. Every carpark in Morocco there's some person wanting money to park or selling something.

Its hard to find ones without them And when you do find them the police or military are moving people off of them at night or too the ones with the so called guardian who tends to not really guard anything.

That was my experience last time anyway but I'll see how this trip is overall.

Its nice to find peaceful places . Thankfully this current spot has been perfect. No hassle from anyone as they all target the vans on the guardian parking instead lol

Truth be told if it wasn't for the 90 days restriction I'd spend 6 months in Spain and Portugal one year and 6 months in Greece the next year on rotation.

If I still had eu rights that's what I'd be doing.

After this trip I need to look in to alternative methods for doing Spain as 3 months isn't long enough and I don't think I'll be returning to morroco again after this trip.

That 6 months French visa people have used may need to be an option

Or the alternative is simply to give up and change lifestyle again as its getting harder to do.
Yes I agree the 6 months thing is a pain. We would like to spend a lot more time in Spain.

The 6 month visa isn’t too difficult or expensive, but you have to prove you can support yourself with either pension or savings. No private health care requirement, just GHIC card

Well I can do that no probs

Decided to move today for a change of scenery. That was a big mistake lol.

Managed to get drinking water in the petrol station near where I was parked so filled up there. They didn't take cards so didn't get diesel... headed to safi. Took 5 different petrol stations before I got one that took cards . Went in to marine for some vegetables and got some couscous , pasta and a few more spices while I was there. Decided it was easier than going to a souk etc and also can pay by card . Moved on to the first park 4 night spot I had sussed out that was near the beach but no towns etc....never did find it . I tried 2 possible routes to it the first one I got stuck and had to get towed out by a French couple in a 4x4 sprinter . The other access I knew I wouldn't make it so gave up... next place I tried was filthy so gave that a miss. Nothing else available down that road till nearly essaouira at a spot I've been to before and where I think Paul and Helen had went to . Essaouira has a complete overnight ban on campers now and it looks like the spot I stayed at in sidi kouki last time is also banned . In fact many of the places I stayed at last time now have daytime only parking. So not going well at all . I'm currently parked on a very clean but not very scenic parkup between essaouira and sidi kouki as I don't want to be struggling to find parking once dark .

I had no intention to drive this far today 😕

Looks like campsites or rammed guardian parking is the only options this time . Neither of which I want.

Was parked up next to this guy with the old classic airstream last night in Rabat, I've seen this beauty in Spain before it used to be Dutch registered and now Bulgarian registered . It has to be 11/12 metres long.
There is a similar one currently for sale on Autotrader.

That happens to me every time I try P4N, so I don't bother now.
I have to say and I thought it last time too, Morocco is without doubt the worst country to find decent free parkups. Or even guarded parkups that don't have loads of other vans or folk selling stuff.

Finding peace is extremely difficult.

Keep driving south, when you start to meet giraffe’s and lions it will get easier with the free parking spots🤷🏻‍♂️😇

I'm just waiting to hear confirmation either way from my mate whether he's coming over or not and if not I'll just head inland after agadir to tafroute.

If he finds a giraffe he’ll probably adopt it. 🦒

That's why we can never go to Morocco. We would have a van full of dogs and donkeys. We also couldn't stand to see so many strays. That's why we're with you 'in spirit'.
I've been not to bad with strays this time I've not seen that many and the ones I have seen have been mostly in good health. But i have been avoiding them a bit. Also avoiding towns as much as I can. There's a few things I want to buy when I'm here but will leave them till near the end I think .
