Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

prefer the places the locals eat to the more touristy restaurants
No tablecloth though ;).
But I agree (as long as it's not Chinese... chicken feet and/or gizzard etc ).

Haven't got one of those Clay Pot thingymajigs but I'm guessing a Slow Cooker will do just as well  ?

Not quite the same, the clay tagine gives a different taste. To be honest, the food is the only good thing about Morocco for me, but each to their own.

...and they're moaning Morocco is expensive

For clarity, not Tam particularly.
It depends where you go

The restaurant we went to in assilah was expensive for morroco . Tagine there was smaller and cost 80dh so 8 euro . And small beers were €4 each .
Compared to Spain that's expensive.

Buy it depends where you go.

And how well you haggle.

I can buy 2 good size dorado fish in Spain or even Greece and Turkey for around €8

So I expect to pay around the same here, vegetables, rice, couscous etc is very good priced here.

Buying things like jelabas, rugs, souvenirs etc you need to haggle as the price they start is usually about 3 times the price they actually want.

If you pay more it's extra profit for them .
They never ever sell it for a loss . They're not daft , haggling is the culture.

Campsites etc are cheap .

Toll roads are cheap compared to Europe but I don't use them in Europe so for me to use them here then it defeats the purpose of cheaper diesel. ..besides I quite like to see the sights you see on the national roads. It depends how much of a hurry you are in .

Supermarkets are not cheap here , they're French and used mostly by the wealthy morrocans so for me they are more expensive than say lidl etc .

But I don't plan to use them very often. I prefer to buy my veg etc from the souk or roadside sellers.

Diesel is under £1 a litre.

It's not a dear country by any stretch but it isn't a cheap country overall .

The local guy I was chatting with last night was complaining about how expensive it's becoming for local people and how tourism makes things more expensive ... so it seems the locals are having similar experience to the Spanish etc with tourism.

I just wish I spoke more French because its quite difficult to understand many of the locals and most are very friendly

It's the carpark guardians etc I often find quite intimidating and I like to avoid them. I don't pay to park anywhere else in Europe, never have done. But I managed to find lots of wild spots last time so hopefully I do again. I like places like this where no one hassles you and I can then choose if I want to go In to the town etc.

I couldn't park in the middle of it as I don't like having to say no to various salesmen all day. ...and I don't want to be parked side by side with a lot of other vans where looking out the window means looking in another van . I'm happy to park nose to tail with other vans but I like a view out my windows....so do the dogs. They all love sitting in the cab watching the world. If lots of people about they just growl and bark at them

I wouldn't have minded a fisherman selling me some fish today though .. but I might just walk up to town tomorrow and see .

Not fussed about tablecloths as long as there's a table and it's clean 🤣

My double skillet will make a good attempt but not quite the same as the tagine. The tagine is a bit like a wok as if used correctly and only lightly washed with plain water it becomes seasoned so retains some of the spices etc which adds to the flavour ... the food is very moist and meat melts in the mouth. I loved making my own recipes that you can't get in Morocco. Pork , chorizo etc ....and I have a load of different spices

There are some stunningly beautiful places in Morocco too though. Its a real shame you can't use drones here .

Yes there are, I was fortunate to be able to fly over them on our frequent visits from our Aeroclub. The Atlas mountain range is really something to behold, most of the year it is snowy too - a stark contrast to the dusty deserts below.

So can I 90 gallons per hour for 4 5 hours luckily I wasn't paying for fuel. 2x1200 hp
Capn Paul £27000🤒
We got taken out by a friend of our daughters in Thailand on their Princess I think it was a 60ft, opened it up to full throttle for us, at full throttle it used 600 Lt/hour.

That's why most of these yachts etc spend most of their time sat in a marina and the owners go sit on them on Sundays to let people think they're sailors 🤣🤣

The owner has never helmed it let's the crew do that. When they go to Singapore they fly & send the boat down it costs £1000 in fuel. Their just use it as their private hotel room.

I was thinking about you this morning when I walked out the supermarket (Florida ) with my £140 trolley of messages , my first day with a half full trolly was £300

I’d love to be in “dear” Morocco

I think the whole world has taken sharp increase in the cost of food etc

if you want a real fuel burner BAC Lightning 111gallons per minute in reheat !!! :)
I thought they were English Electric? Remember going to air show at RAF Coltishall as a kid with my dad and one took off then went straight up and the ground shook literally.

Lovely photos Tam. I know you said a few posts back that you didn't like Morocco but you look happier now. The new friends look like a good laugh.
Has Jackie gone off somewhere else? She didn't look happy in that photo!

Jackie is great. Anyone can look bad in a photo. We've just spent a lovely 3 days camped next to each other on the Aire and we're moving on separately today and we'll all more than likely see each other again along the way. I didn't want to come on here and talk about someone who has no input about themselves but people keep going on about it so I'd prefer to stop the speculation. She asked how we all know each other at dinner the other day and knows it was on motorhome fun so she could easily come on here and and be flabbergasted by a bunch of strangers discussing her.

My brother was going to buy one of the Big powerful jetski things until he saw that was 12 gallons an hour.
Not if it’s 4 stroke. I have had quite a few of the 3 man jobs over the years and the last one I had was a Yamaha 1200 and it was quick but pretty cheap compared to the 2 stroke Yamaha we had before but even that wasn’t burning 12 gallons an hour. Probably less than a quarter of that.

English Electric Lightning?

I wonder if any are still in operation. At one stage there were reportedly 4 left, and they were all in Cape Town. Were operated by a company called Thunder City, run by Mike Beachy Head (since deceased).

After a fatal accident in one in I think 2009 (canopy release and ejection mechanism failed) they were grounded and the company has since gone out of business.

The plane could climb at 50,000 feet per minute.

Personally I haven't heard from Jackie since I left assilah where even then she wasn't that chatty to me. Completely different to how she is normally or should I say has been normally.

She's been different since Christmas so maybe she just wants to do her own thing which is fine.

Not a case of new friends either just 2 guys that happened to be parked here too, the younger one geordie moved on this morning in search of surf , nige is still parked here as am I till tomorrow.

The Yamaha 1200 is a two stroke.

I might have got the engine size wrong but it was definitely a 4 stroke.

It had the same engine as their fastest motorbike but I can’t recall its name.

This was about 2006
