They really, really annoy us. Martin has told a few about their antisocial behaviour but they really don't care. They can leave and go elsewhere if they're told to put things away by the authorities. Then signs or height barriers appear and we ALL lose out.

I've told before about the ones on one of our, used to be unknown, favourite spots inland. Tables, chairs, washing and an open fire in the midst of dry bushes. Two vans, father and son. They said they'd do what they wanted, they're on holiday, and if they were fined they'd pay and leave. They didn't intend to come back there anyway. (So far it seems we can still go and enjoy the parking spot.)

I'm tempted to write in black marker " no fcukin camping!!" On their bonnet later .

Is it possible that they do not know the Spanish Law distinction between parking and camping, which does not seem to exist in other countries, or is not enforced?
I doubt it . I think every motorhomer knows it especially as there's usually plenty comments on park4night spelling it out.

In roquetes the signs were clear it had no camping with a tent, a caravan and a motorhome displayed. On some signs it would also state no parking autocaravana. Those ones I won't park at because you're wide open to a fine as it states no parking

On the ones that only state no camping you are allowed to park as long as there's nothing outside.

And I've seen most people respecting that and only parking. But you still get the odd one that thinks the rules don't apply to them. Mostly German and Dutch but also many Spanish vans too I guess their bonus is they speak the language so can argue with police.

Besides I told him earlier he was camping....he's STILL camping, just threw me dirty looks when I went out with the dogs a wee while ago.

P.s that rule also applies in Greece, if theres signs but you're only parked the police won't bother you ...if you have all the shite outside in full view then they tend to have more to say .

That's the bit with these clowns they park in the most obvious place and then pull out all their crap. I'm convinced it's a form of peacocking, like look at me look at me.

Absolute cockwombles they are.

That's no defence. They should make themselves aware of the rules. Some of them "camp" where there's a sign, pictorial and in multi languages, with the rules.

In some of "their countries" even wild parking isn't allowed. They're just taking the pee.

It's not only in car parks that's was our Dutch neighbours taking the piss with their wind break on our already small pitch till he was told to move it,his reply was I've been coming here for 10 years and it is allowed. All sorted now but still have to squeeze past our van to get out.

We hardly see any police in Greece and I cannot remember any signs. Anyway we only have a table and a couple of chairs and the awning out, so probably do not attract attention.

I wonder if the same rules apply if yachties put chairs out on the quayside?

Not as many signs in Greece granted but a quick Google will tell you that free camping is actually illegal throughout Greece. Discretion is key of course. But when there is a sign right there then its best not to do it.

I know ..the clown truck is also Italian.

They're still camping
We stayed here couple of years ago. Signs up saying no washing, showering etc but they do it so they turn the water off at 8pm to stop them.

I think in 3 visits to Greece with our MH I have not seen any signs.

The general prohibition sounds a bit like the ex-communist countries of eastern Europe which passed a law decades ago to stop people parking near sensitive military instillations to prevent spying, just like the Greek signs prohibiting photographing near military sites. Certainly in Poland, which has a similar law, nobody takes a blind bit of notice.

I find it hard to understand in any country how, if a MH is parked where cars are permitted, the law can prohibit a MH parking there, since both are Category M1 vehicles, albeit 'Motorcaravans are M1 (Special Purpose). the law would have to specify.

I go to a Greek island where there has not been a campsite, which was really for tents, which closed 10 years ago. If the police wanted to enforce the no wildcamping law they could deny disembarkation from the ferry, but since we are usually the only MH on the island I doubt whether they can be ar*ed to bother.

It’s all a bit confusing. If you stay overnight is that not camping. 🤔

You can park a van anywhere you can fit legally. Provided you are only parked according to the rules, you can stay overnight and sleep inside the vehicle.

Unfortunately, that's not good enough for some people who want to camp, but not use a campsite. Some vehicles don't fit in a legal spot and, often that's accepted if no other rule is being broken. Saying that, nowadays it's not often that the ones doing the camping behaviour are punished, so more and more people are doing it.

We spoke to a couple of women at the Caravaca camperstop. They were sitting outside their van with a small table. They told us they knew they were breaking the rules (huge board at the entrance) but they wanted to sit out in the sun 🤷‍♀️

Think I would go somewhere else, I couldn't relax therew

We don't normally stay on a site this long but getting older we thought we book this place for a few weeks
