I saw it in classic car magazine about 20 years ago they had a section called rust in peace, it was knackered, lots of hours but I have enjoyed it full nut and bolt job, for my sins now I bought a 1971 asThat's a nice looking motor , I've not seen one of those before
Very classy motor, very rare, for anyone who wants to see one in the flesh, try Llangollen motor museum, they definitely used to have one. That's a nice looking motor , I've not seen one of those before
It's had 2 or 3 coats all straight after each other. Obviously using fast air drying thinners in the mix.Erm the masking is off? Is it just ‘one and done’?
Ok, hang on a minute, I am confusing the issue here. If 1kg of weight is 2 litres of gas, in an 11kg bottle you have 22 litres. I have 2 x 24.4 litre bottles which equates to 39 litres (80%) but you have 44. So something is not adding up. Is it the whisky confusing my brain? Probably, but it does seem that the LPG lasts me a lot longer than the 2 bottles of propane that I had before, up to twice as long. Maybe I dreamed that.I normally get 19/20 days from my 11kg ...I filled up on 31st so 17/18 days this time .

I am annoyed they didn't put it in the booth but they'll have to polish it as a result to get a better finish as it does feel rough to the touch.
But surprisingly little orange peel or not so noticeable. Baring In mind it's only a few hours since painted will have to see what it's like after a polish. .

Considering little wind and a booth which is open on one side I wonder how much difference it actually made that it was painted outside. May have been a blessing - they could see what they were doing in good natural light
You have 48.8 litres at 80% as the 20% figure has already been accounted for so 48.8 litres + 20% gives a 100% figure of 58.56 litres.Ok, hang on a minute, I am confusing the issue here. Yes it didn't help that while they were painting it outside on a sandy gritty carpark the other owner said drove this beetle convertible in right past my van at speed .Yes as per earlier comments, it’s amazing that they just paint in a dusty environment and expect decent results! I think a little sag and the orange peel you refer to can be polished out with a good bit of effort, my concern is sand and grit is a lot harder to resolve.
Listen Tam, it’s your waggon buddy! It looks way better with the decision to colour code, keep at them until you have a finish you can live with and are happy with!
Yes I thought that too as the booth is never closed and the roof rattles so there's a good chance dust falls from the roof inside.Considering little wind and a booth which is open on one side I wonder how much difference it actually made that it was painted outside. That’s going to take some putting right, are they doing the other side as well? And what I do to make me think post is I look at this View attachment 1001436
Unbelievably yes .. he's having a full respray done on it.That’s going to take some putting right, are they doing the other side as well?
Are you not tempted to put the grey stripe back on ? Colour coding looks goodYes it didn't help that while they were painting it outside on a sandy gritty carpark the other owner said drove this beetle convertible in right past my van at speed .
I've not seen or spoke to momo yet will most likely be tomorrow and I'll be going round it showing him the bits that need touched in etc ...there's not many but there are some. And will say to him it needs polished.
I'm not starting to reassemble it till then.
I fear my mirrors were primed with just ordinary primer too , not seen them yet but I imagine I may have to paint those myself again in 6 months or so . But its not difficult to do them with spray cans.
As said these guys aren't professionals they are self taught.
Overall I think it's a definite improvement. And I know the colour of the white so I can fettle and touch in bits myself . The graphic I removed has left a slight mark so I will have to see if polish hides that or I may have to add a very thin pinstripe along where the top of the grey stripe once was.
Overall for a 20 year old van it's good.
The few Germans looking at it earlier would not believe it was 20 years old.
So that's good .
I wonder if those newer vans that are getting stickers removed are stolen. It doesn't make sense to remove stickers to then have a questionable paint job afterwards!!!Unbelievably yes .. he's having a full respray done on it.
More money than sense I fear .
Not in grey . . I think it looks far better without the stripe .Are you not tempted to put the grey stripe back on ? Colour coding looks good
I doubt it I think a lot of these newer vans with the black vinyl are having issues . It seems black and grey vinyl fades and cracks more often than other colours .I wonder if those newer vans that are getting stickers removed are stolen. It doesn't make sense to remove stickers to then have a questionable paint job afterwards!!!
It was still there two years ago when I went.Very classy motor, very rare, for anyone who wants to see one in the flesh, try Llangollen motor museum, they definitely used to have one.
How it acquired the Montreal name is an interesting story.

Is that how they calculate it? I have 58.56 useable litres? You have 48.8 litres at 80% as the 20% figure has already been accounted for so 48.8 litres + 20% gives a 100% figure of 58.56 litres.

Have you ever been to any of these Moroccan places?A good point! Again I’d assumed the shed would have had a hanging curtain to seal it off!
The cars don’t appeal to me as much as the old enamel signs. Love ‘em!It was still there two years ago when I went.

I think I’ll keep this one for a while as well, it will take me that long to finish it, the engine guy has only had the engine for eight years , never mind time to save up more money. It does have one claim to fame though, it was originally Ridley Scott’s carLovely motor, I currently have his grandson
DBS Superleggera, its a great car to drive, I think I'll keep it for a while which isn't like me
