DO I have to buy it now?

Get the Swift and take the stickers off nobody will know then, I like that idea (y)

Have you got any spare Morelo stickers ;) Wait a minute they are always having problems, need to find a reliable brand, any suggestions?

They all have problems it seems ;) that's why you might as well just buy what suits you and to hell with the consequences.

We are boat people not motorhomers, we just pretend to be motorhomers for 6 weeks a year when we pop to France, mind you a boat is just a motorhome on the water so very similar, just a different class (y)
At home with a Swift then ☺️ .......

....... we have a 664 by the way ?

One idea was to buy an old one and just leave it in France,......... but I don't know how much longer I will be going there, once the outlaws are dead that's it no more for me!
Don't hold your breath. I expect they'll continue to hang on just to enjoy your visits.

Thanks, I have had a caravan and don't really fancy another, I did look though and the top of the range Swift one is only around £32k and scarily inside it looked similar to motorhomes double the price. One idea was to buy an old one and just leave it in France, its only 300 Euro a year to store it down there, but I don't know how much longer I will be going there, once the outlaws are dead that's it no more for me!
Only 32k,,That's not only to many of us,,BUSBY??

Sorry I meant only compared to £75k for a motorhome (y) I didn't mean to give the opinion that £32k is not also a large amount of money ;)

You really must learn to make yourself clear. Ambiguity can cause a lot of confusion.

Can buy a house near me for 75k.BUSBY.

That’s being rude to Tosh!:D2
I’d get a caravan if I were you... what’s the point in buying a motorhome when you park on a site for 6 weeks?

You’d have much more space, Only have to pay around half the price and have your car to use when you’re in France.
He will not be on a site as he has also bought a generator for his 6 week holiday.

You may laugh but I have converted the generator to gas so is great for keeping freezers going and for stops en route, just like having an EHU ;)

Why not just run the fridge straight on gas? Far more efficient on gas anyway.

Dear 596
Looking back at your original post. May I express my admiration for your good taste in selecting appropriate fittings for your new Swift. You could add an Efoy cell to keep you ahead of the game.
May I be so bold as to draw your attention to the Velcro that holds some of the internal panels together. Investing in better quality Velcro may save you meeting the upper facia on a bumpy road.

Exactly the same as if it was running on petrol then....

I have been buying presents for my new van that I have paid a deposit on, I now have

Alarm fitting arranged
Payload upgrade arranged
Got my quote for rear air assist
Bought a new gorgeous original Silver Screen
Bought a heavy duty wheel clamp to go with my alarm and tracker as I would prefer thieves to go next door
Bought a new Smart TV
Bought a personal number plate
Cab mats
Generator 2,000kw gas and petrol
A new Kampa blow up 390 Rally Pro awning
A new annex for the above
Blackview remote viewing dash cam
Wifi system and SIM
Speaking with an upholsterer about redesigning the interior, curtains, cushions and seating covers, also bed linen

My old van is sold and leaves for its storage facility tomorrow, my driveway will look heavenly after 9yrs with a van on it, I don't need the new one until next July but don't want to pay £102mth storage at the facility, anyway that one is full now.

So firstly should I have another look around or accept that for what I need Swift is the way to go, can always take the stickers off ;) Leave it at the dealers for a few months for free or just collect it and put not on my driveway?

Any advice?
So your plan is to by this Swift thing, and keep it in your new heated barn for 46 weeks of the year then drive it to France for 6 weeks. Not worth having a Motorhome at all in my opinion. Stay in a 5 star hotel for 6 weeks, donate all those accessories you have bought to Motorhome Fun to auction off for charity.

Isn't this whole thread pointless as he is supposed to already have bought a motorhome

I know all about Efoy cells and the technology is not quite there yet but thanks for bringing it up. Re the velcro, yes I know I am buying a crock of sh!te but it is what it is, I am not investing more for something that is going from A to B once a year, sitting there for 6 weeks and coming back, we never use the interior apart from sleeping and storage as it has air con, we live, cook and shower outside. In fact the more I think about it the more stupid I think I am but I am being controlled by a much greater force that tells me I am the boss but what to do  Even if we went for the shed/shack option, its £357 a night and that is one cabin without the awesome outside space and atmosphere we have when camping, PLUS we need to get down there with our stuff, for 42 nights that is £15,000 a year, you DO NOT have the same atmosphere, it is a sterile box. Add to that the cost of getting down there flying, car rental or even driving with with tolls and fuel, TRUST me I have looked at EVERY option. Maybe I could air B&B the motorhome here in London or rent it to forum members for say £50 a day for trips to help keep it moving? As I have mentioned a cheap hotel down there which is an option to the shed is £400 a night x 2 rooms = £800 x 42 nights = £33,600, so a motorhome is an absolute bargain as it should hold some value.

are you referring to the 'cool box' type?
Its not a coolbox its a fridge freezer with compressor, I have the CFX 28, CFX35, CFX50 and CFX 65DZ (DZ means dual zone so can be used as all fridge or all freezer or split half and half). I don't eat foreign food so take all my own meat for 6 weeks (y)

I used to know a family who did that. To be fair, they had a butchers shop. They vacuum packed all their meat for a two week holiday - but had to put it in a suitcase as flying to Spain.
