Delivery delays

6 sleeps to go 😊. Pleased with the insurance cost again from Comfort. All extras fitted, alarm & tracker done and I’ve managed to use the App 😜. Tow bar fitted yesterday and all the logistics arranged for collection and ceramic coating, just need Trans Pennine train cancellations not to disrupt the tight schedule starting Monday. Getting excited by the day 😊

We are staying over at Lowdhams on Friday the 29th July en route to Eurotunnel next day.
Would be ironic if you picked it up same day 😂
We will be there overnight on 30th but not because our van is ready. They are loaning us a van for a week we can’t cancel, no date yet for ours so we will just miss you!

What kind of tracker are you using?
I'm looking to install one in my "someday arriving" Twin Plus (12 months in the wait, here).

Congrats on your new van!

Greetings from Spain

Thanks Peavy. The dealer uses Phantom so I’ve got a Sentinel S7 alarm and tracker. It came out as No 2 in the caravan guard reviews and is a dedicated Motorhome system. I’m liking the fact I can use their App to monitor all sorts of things and I’ve had unbelievable responses to my questions from customer support, so up to now impressed. We’ll see how it works in practice when we get the van

Where in Spain are you, we once lived in Los Alcazares, Murcia 2010/12 and have visited much of the country’s coastline over a 14 year period when we looking for where to live upon retirement

Thanks for your reply, I'll take a look on that tracker...
I'm next to Salou, Tarragona. You'll probably know the area, then :giggle:

Yes we do Peavy , we once stopped at L’ Ametlla de Mar when we couldn’t get other campsites a bit further north that we wanted to stay at. What a lovely find. We enjoyed it so much we stayed a week. Great cliff top walking and lovely fresh seafood in a working dockside restaurant 😊

Sonds like there :giggle:

Let's hope the situation will get better soon, and we all will be enjoying our motorhomes.
Though I've got to say yesterday I read here that Adria was struggling even more and that vans initially scheduled to be produced end of '21 and not delivered yet, would be moved to even mid '23.
Looks like Fiat may be closing a few weeks it's Sevel plant in Italy due lack of components again.

Doesn't sound promissing:confused:
Now, I'll be happy just having my van in '22

Cheers everyone

Would you credit it! We collect the new van tomorrow and had booked train tickets from Hull to Huddersfield. This afternoon Trans Pennine Express have cancelled ALL trains out of Hull for the day due to the hot weather because of the anticipated delays it will cause on the network.

I’ve managed to get a friend drive us, so all not lost, and I’ll get a full refund of the ticket, but not the admin fee.

If I had travelled and had a delay I would have still got there by train with no additional expense but also received compensation too, but not if it is cancelled. I wonder how much it would have cost me if I had no mate to jump in last minute and I needed to get a taxi and no compensation it appears. How can that be fair.

One sleep to go and getting so excited

Was talking to a dutch guy whilst waiting for the ferry from holland to texal last wednesday and he asked how long waiting times are in england he wants a new cathago and has been quoted 2years in holland .

Another bullet dodged!(y) Don't forget to let us know if the spec is as per order once collected!
I will dash300, I may start a new thread to add photos and invite questions Re the new spec & ceramic coating as they appear to be few and far between so far.

It will be a new learning curve for me Re the automatic and I’ve no idea if the electric parking brake will be like my car, completely automatic but I can release it, which I do after I’ve washed the wheels 😜

Excellent. A user review of the the latest updates Fiat have to offer will be worth its own post.(y)

We picked ours up on thursday , base vehicle new 22 fiat 9 speed auto no elec handbrake but manual on right hand side between seat and door what a pain , already caught it and cracked plastic surround !

Coming up the M5 the other day, passing the massive new car car parks, there were no cars but lots of vans of various sizes, all presumably waiting to be delivered. Handy if your a convertor.

It is a real pain. Manual handbrake is a real nuisance for seat swivel. However rather that than not having the Auto!

That's good of them to do that. Are they lending you the same model?

While we are ther we are getting Out Smart the Thief fitted. Not by lowdhams I may add the company is sending a fitter to Lowdhams to meet us before we head abroad.

Very good of them - we volunteer warden a conference campsite for 250 the first week in August. So would have had to hire something (not easy at short notice). Slept in a tent this weekend, nostalgic but 2 nights is enough! It’s not the same model, it’s a sunlight. We are just very grateful!

For anyone wondering why their motorhome hasn't arrived at the dealer, here's a French video showing one of the reasons.
It was taken today at Trigano's biggest factory in France. The video was produced in reply to certain social medias showing compounds full of vehicles and that manufacturers must be slowing deliveries to speculate on wholesale prices rising even more.

I don’t speak French but I caught the drift! One of those could be ours!

Will do dash300 but it will involve a bit of typing so I’ll wait a while to get a chance to do it on the laptop. Just got home after 2 days away. But the van is absolutely beautiful , the gearbox is so smooth I can’t really tell when it changes gear. Some problems Re Fiat manual with van is it is the quick guide. Online a full one available which I have read to try and resolve how the electric parking brake works. I thought it was like the car, fully auto, but it is not. I took the foot off the foot brake at a downhill approach to roundabout in traffic queue, it rolled forward! which shocked me. Also I cannot find how to see the odometer to give the ceramic coated the mileage. I know it is there but cannot see it up to now. Still early days and needs a play. Managed to work the cruise control, learned how to turn off the lane assist after it corrected my steering when I changed lanes or crossed the white line up the country hills at Denby Dale and so on, but what a beautiful van. So chuffed.

Yes no problem take your time and get a feel for what you have got. I have to say my Volvo auto braking works brilliantly on a roll back hill but nothing on a roll forward hill which I assumed was the norm.

Very interesting video!
So sad seeing all those vehicles waiting for just a tiny piece of something.
Hope soon it all is going to improve.
Cheers

Well, after finally accepting the van may be months away, and being ok about it…..phone call today the van arrives next Friday and we collect it on 13th August. Straight down to Vanbitz! Let the adventures begin :)
Good news Nedge. I'll keep an eye out for it arriving on a low loader.

Hi all. Just joined the forum.

We ordered a Malibu van (640 RE LB skyview, 140hp Auto) in March this year from Southdowns Motorhomes in Portsmouth. We were initially told "spring 2023" for delivery, but that has now been updated to "Carthago have confirmed a build date of July 2023". Disappointing, but not unexpected given everything I've read on here. And at least it's officially on their system now.

I'm normally very patient, and at 6'3" (and wife 5'11") there are very few PVCs we can fit in (the main reason we bought new). It was Malibu or Globecar only. So I don't think I'll get itchy feet and buy used. But we'll see.....

I'll keep you updated!

Our May/June delivery arrived at the dealer yesterday, so the estimate wasn’t too far out. Hopefully yours will be similar.
