Citi Europe

We use Cite d'Europe fairly often. We have heard the trains, though not often, depends on wind direction. We used to go into Carrefour for bits and pieces but the last few times the experience has been rather depressing.

And expensive too !!

Is this a joke seeing the smily, there is no noise from the trains at all.
No not a joke we have stayed several times and always heard trains and traffic noise so choose to stay elsewhere, if you don’t hear them I cannot comment on that but thats your choice, I just stated why we don’t use anymore.?

We never hear the trains - but those wind turbines are quite noisy if the wind is in the "wrong" direction.

We always stay there, never heard the trains. Maybe if you park up the far end you can ?

At the end of the day it's convenient. It has shops for the ladies food and beer for the men. And fuel water and dumping for your van. It's free that's a bonus but I have heard noise before I have seen trouble but I have also had a good night's kip.
This allowed me to be on the road early doors and get to where I really wanted to be.

Just be a little bit more security concious.

I really don’t like Carrefour, or the prices! Do yourself a favour and drive a bit further away from the port and have a free, quiet night!

But every time we have stayed at Cite Europe we have had just that a free quiet nightxroll:! We have had noisier nights at some Aires far away that some people on here class as favourites, each to their own I suspect...

ok i started this thread as a warning that immigrants were about its now turned into weather citi europe is good or bad if it is for you use it if not dont like marmite really

Thanks of course for the warnings, that's what the forum is about, helping each other.

But, as always happens on MHF, it soon strays off subject - quite normal.

Just seen a post on Facebook people have been moved off the cite europe aire to the lidl car park no explanation given.

Yes I was in the car park last night. At 10:30pm we had a knock at the door, looking out the window I saw two firemen. Through the window I was asked to leave the car park. When I asked why I was told because of the migrants, I then asked why were there no gendarmes here the firemen said because there is so much trouble in the town that all the gendarmes were busy, so the firemen were asked to move us on. When I asked where to go the firemen replied that they did not know where to go. I spoke to the other motorhomers that were there, only about 6 motorhomes they said they all would move to Lidl car park, the firemen did not tell them to go there. We moved down to the Auchan car park in Boulogne, as we did not want to disturb anyone in the aire in Boulogne.
Please do not use this post as a safe or not argument . We have used Citi Europe for many years without any problems, and will probably stay there again in the future. I have only posted to confirm that the previous statement was true

Because at times the car park gets busy with people wanting to shop.
Ok
I’m really not sure what your problem is with cite de Europe, you obviously have a jaundiced view of it so don’t go there but why the puerile comments?
Keep to facts not here say.
From a friend who was on cite last night .But I guess I'm being childish or its fake news ! Have a great day ?

So motorhomers were moved for their own security, that’s good news.
But Jenka, nothing actually ‘ kicked off’ at Cite de Europe as you’re so fond of saying.
I guess you’ll be avoiding London in the future as well?

Now who's being childish to compare yesterday's tragic events to this shame on you .

COE EVERY TIME. NO NOISE, NO HASSLE AND VERY CONVENIENT.

Hope some others stay in local “aires” as it is getting quite popular, then there will be more room for me!

Its a genuine comment, you must live in a very dark place, you’re afraid of you own shadow...Goodbye.

I really do not understand why some people are getting so hot under the collar about this. We have a free choice to stay at Cite Europe or somewhere else. Let everybody make their own mind up. We always stay there both out and back, and have always had a peaceful night's sleep. Which is more than can be said about our one night at Wissant, where the buses parked in the middle of the Aire started up at the crack of sparrowfart and idled for half an hour before driving off.

Just stay wherever you want. That is the advantage with France, you are rarely far away from another Aire.

If you don't like cite Europe, do as we always do , twenty easy minutes up the road , gravelines is always welcomeing (y) (y):xsmile:

As I said earlier I was in the car park and did see some suspicious looking people wandering around, but it didn’t put me off from staying, nor will it stop me staying there again. That is my choice as it is convenient for the shops and the dump point. I was not told to go the Lidl car park, If the aire was not safe next to the police station, then in my view Lidl car park was not a safer option. My view was that away from Calais was safer, and had a quiet night in Auchan Boulogne car park.

Just a bit of humour to this thread. Last night in the car park I was doing my security duty by listening for strange noises around the van, or so I thought. My wife had to shake me awake to tell me that someone wasknocking on the door. When I opened the window, naked, the two firemen looked more scared than I was.

What's not safe? Why are they suspicious? Where's the worry?

I stayed overnight in many far more suspect places especially in the UK, without incident, for years.

Must have touched a nerve ,until we spar again .Goodbye from the dark side ?

Be interesting to see if this was a one-off or are Carrefour (although don't think it's actually "their" car-park) trying to stop the area being used as an overnight stop?

And we should all note - it';s not actually an "aire de camping car", just a car-park.

I wouldn't stop there in a milion years ! I am surprised your coach company allowed as most operators stipulate no stopping 2hours from the port.i am sure I will be ridiculed for my comment but it seems people have incidents there and still return .
Totally agree, stop by all means for shopping but no way would I stay overnight when there are many nicer places to stay no than an hour away,
But then again I’m lucky in only being 45 mins from the tunnel so like to get a couple of hours driving under my belt before retiring,

What is the difference? At the entrance it has the same sign that all other Aires that can be used by motorhomes for parking overnight has. And at the garage where the bourne is it has the motorhome dump sign.

peterc10 just love the use of the word "sparrowfart" to indicate early dawn in post #141.

Not heard that expression before
