Citi Europe

I had a run in with a young economic immigrant last nite at services on E40 on way to Calais full story later when home .

I understand they strap themselves to chassis bits underneath. We usually only stop there on the way out, so anyone underneath would have a long walk back to Calais depending on how well my bladder behaves.

Here’s another one from earlier this year.
Everyone, as usual, is parked neatly within the white lines but one ignores it all and decides to be awkward.
I seem to remember that he was Belgian.

Don't fret.
Seems to be loads of spaces available

You can see that most vans are parked within the lines but one over on the left just has to be different.
I know there is plenty of space but sometimes you just think ‘why’?

Perhaps being Belgian would explain all. :D :D

In a similar vein, earlier this year we parked at a favourite overnight stop that has fantastic views over the hills.
About six other vans pulled in and all parked with their backs to the view.
Very strange!

Richard.

The finest view disappears when it goes dark or you are asleep.

Our Autograph 79/4 has the ground clearance of a go cart so good luck climbing under that! Even the mice struggle to get low enough. We stayed at Cite not long ago. Saw no one and had a very peaceful night but there were quite a few vans there.

Sounds highly implausible

Didn't you notice the white pegs at the hillside camp.

I'm here now

Only 4 motorhomes and a few cars , unmarked police van circled every hour or so.

2 security guards with dogs circle every hour or so .

No travellers

No caravans

Once again I've seen 2 black guys wandering around both on their own well dressed no idea if immigrants or not no backpacks bags or anything.

If they strap themselves under my van they'll get licked to death by my dogs as they go under the van last thing at night and first thing in morning to pee

I heard that too , they apparently use lorry straps hang 2 from chassis rails and lie on it like a hammock

Must be bloody desperate

I have to say I've never crawled under our vehicle but I find it hard to understand what exactly a person would hold onto under a motorhome.

I can visualise a person stowing away in a large outside locker or in a garage... Likewise a lorry but holding onto the underneath of a motorhome I find pretty unbelievable.
They strap themselves to the alko chassis that has many holes in it to attach lorry straps to they then lie on the straps like a hammock suspended from the straps.

Dont know why because everytime I've crossed theres a guy with a mirror on a stick looked under my van so surely they must get caught

And it's a gamble whether you are crossing or just crossed surely

My thoughts as well from the axel back there's nothing from the axel forward no chance
Mine has chassis rails right to the back and the towbar is attached to them and a nice flat floor behind axle too

I'm not sure they think about safety tbh, I think they just want a better safer life from what they came from and will do whatever it takes. Sad really.
Yep you would have to be pretty desperate 60mph with your face or arse a foot off the tarmac

The vehicle in the picture is British.......look at the Reg Plate. But as for parking and taking up both bays, what was his alternative other that to be at the front and no room behind for any other vehicle or vicea versa??
I always try to park at the front of a bay but there's no way anyone can get in behind.........am I missing something here???

You're looking at the wrong van

Further left near the fence I think

Whoops........thanks N....Raider I'll look again but perhaps a bit like shirts in the wardrobe, can never find the one I, so shout and magically it appears!

In Cite Europe and there is always a t**t who thinks it's a good idea to straddle several parking bays
Sorry I have heard a lot about it but, where is it ? Please

Sorry but I must be one of those then as my rig is 12m long and if I park with the lines we stick out into the roadway both ends, my view is it’s much safer to straddle bays.??

They're all chancers - yours was probably not the first he'd tried.

Although I don't think anyone should be put off stopping there, it'd be a good idea to check thoroughly before moving off - I "picked up" two illegals in the engine compartment of my coach after stopping there, fortunately before Immigration found them at the Tunnel check-in!
I wouldn't stop there in a milion years ! I am surprised your coach company allowed as most operators stipulate no stopping 2hours from the port.i am sure I will be ridiculed for my comment but it seems people have incidents there and still return .

Quite a few coaches here today ....3 of them parked up the top of the carpark just now.

Perhaps I should have pointed out that it was a fair old time ago, well before the immigrant camps etc.
