Citi Europe

I'm just saying what's the point of a bloody fence around the place?
There's a bigger choice and lots of MoHo's have pets. Plus - they are all going the right way.
Not sure why anyone would want to climb the fence as it’s open at the drive in side to just perambulate through.

We always go to Canterbury the night before we cross the channel. The next day we're up and away and down through France. Just why would you bother with Cite Europe? There's no need really.

We’re not lovers of Cite Europe the times we have stopped there it has always been noisy as you hear the trains coming and going and also the traffic arriving at the check ins?

Yeah but it's free that's why its popular.
Bet if it was 12 euros it would be deserted.

I’d sooner pay €12 and get a peaceful night I think the aire a Bleriot plague is about that price?

Cite de Europe is a large leisure/ shopping centre adjacent to Eurotunnel at Calais. A lot of motorhomers happily and peacefully overnight there before or after using Eurotunnel.
or the ferry

Is this a joke seeing the smily, there is no noise from the trains at all.
To be fair , the noise from the trains is the only thing I don’t like with Cite de Europe......I always use earplugs in bed.???

Stayed there last night...didn't hear any noise

Very handy for shopping and a 2 minute drive to check in so very handy, in fact so close I got put on an earlier train and drove straight through check in customs and on to the train ....

Who wants to drive miles first thing in morning ?‍♂️

Some folk just like moaning

I'm surprised, the trains are a long way off and down in a cutting. My wife hearing is awesome and would always complain about noise but she can only hear the road noise outside Carrefour

Many of the French Aires are free. We have several favourites not far from the port, which are quiet and free.

Very convenient being 5/10 minutes when off the train and you save 1-2 hours by being over the channel the following day when going to France, check in etc,the crossing, and one hour time difference, actually it’s more like 2 hours you save for the onward journey.

If they walk through the gates backwards they will think that they are leaving ?

you must have bionic hearing as we have stopped there numerous times and not heard the trains!

If you read other posts it seems we are not the only ones?

Funnily enough, we have a Hymer, too, and I've heard them :D.
The noise doesn't disturb me though. We belong to the group that likes Cite Europe. We stay there every time on both arrival and departure, and always have a good sleep. It's just so convenient.(y)

Can you pass on these favourites near Calais. I may try them.
I normally stay at Cite Europe, I don't stop for the shopping, just because it's convenient. Somewhere else but still near the ferry would be a nice change.

We always used to use Wissant, but it's now so popular that you have to get there early to be sure of a place. Only 20 mins from the terminal.

You can see that most vans are parked within the lines but one over on the left just has to be different.
I know there is plenty of space but sometimes you just think ‘why’?

Perhaps being Belgian would explain all. :D :D

In a similar vein, earlier this year we parked at a favourite overnight stop that has fantastic views over the hills.
About six other vans pulled in and all parked with their backs to the view.
Very strange!

Richard.
Were they continental. Seem to park either sideways or with their nose pointing “out”.
we were told by a parking attendant at one of those fairy castles in Bavaria to turn our van around so our nose was pointing “out” before leaving. Maybe a safety thing so you can see what’s happening when you leave?

Never had a problem there, never been disturbed by noise either.. Quiet as the grave compared to kipping beside a fridge lorry
Don't know where this noise from trains comes from, I really don't, they don't make any noise when you are in the buggers never mind hundreds of yards away under the ground
