Rally [Aug 6, 2015] Bristol Balloon Fiesta Funster Rally. (Brsitol)

Ahhh Knee we'll do that in stereo old chap as I have the same problem re battery (on the new van).(y);)
Haha Bertie, as an ex trucker of many years I've spent lots of freezing cold nights with the eight or ten litre engines running on a fast tick over to keep warm so a little 2.8 will be nice and quiet by comparison (y)

I bet you were the barsteward who used to park directly behind us in that layby on the A50.............just before the Interfrigo bugger arrived at 0200 and parked in front(y):D

Plenty of time between now and August to glue a solar panel on the roof of m/h.
Simple diy job and cheaper than a genny.

Got an 80W but yet to get in it as it's being built but many trials will be done. Current van has 3 batteries and a condenser fridge..............well able to live off grid for 4 to 5 days being sensible with lecky.

I do believe there's some big white trees there that all the branches have fallen of that could do with coming down, I'll give him a hand and we could share the wood?
He'd be in heaven doing that all week-end.....and I wonder just how much wood you can get in the mh garage;)

Reminds me of the time we were parked up on the aire at Sanlucar De Barrameda.
French van comes in,parks up 4 foot away(as they do)gets out an old noisy genny, fires it up,
peace well and truly shattered, asked him ( politely)if he would move it to the other side of his van which he did(whilst muttering something about b****y roast beufs).20 mins later moves it
back because the exhaust fumes were blowing into his van, they were now blowing into ours:madder::madder:.Walked round to there door, they took one look at my 'mr angry face', and shut the genny off.
Went for a little stroll that night :mask: just to see the stars.
Lying in bed dozing next morning listening to someone cursing and straining cause his genny
would not start, wife sleeping peacefully enjoying the tranquillity, got up to make myself a coffee, had to take it without sugar but not really a problem ?

I really am a quiet, mild mannered old gentleman but when necessary l'm A GRUMPY OLD GIT.

I don't know how much there would be but I could bring a trailer for my share, perhaps if you have the big white trees from one end and we could have them from the other. They will probably be in the way of us anyway so we will be doing them a favour chopping them down.

Mr Knee - I do think you should clear this with Trikeman:notworthy2:& Terry:notworthy2::notworthy2: before planning a mini arborists meet;).....but do you reckon we could have a bonfire on the greens afterwards to get rid of the thinnings:ROFLMAO:. Wouldn't want to leave a mess:D.

I'll bring the marshmellows:wink:
@Badknee

Thankfully.................. we don't have to drive over golf courses, make bonfires in the bunkers or cut down half of 50 acre woods to generate enough leccy to power Debs hair dryer,,,,,,,,,, Thankfully.

I will probably regret ever mentioning this, but has anyone thought of wind power?:moon2:,,,,,,,,,,,,,, No, no, don't go there (Tootles alert).:getmecoat:
The marshmallows sound good though.

Anyway - looks like everyone who's coming is now booked in - so,,,,,, my life can return to some sort of normality, until the next 'crisis' appears. Shortly we will be re-kindling the 'size of vans idea',,,,,,, not just yet (he says with trepidation - please bare with us) as soon as ready we will put something together to work out how best to site everyone - and without being gassed by Hondas, chainsaws or ebay fold out solar power panels bursting into flames.
:clap2:
We are hoping there will be plenty of space for deckchairs and communal congregation of whatever 'ilk' we wish - so we will try to get every thing organised, including reserved pitches in the right places for the 'not so longers' attending without being 'banished' to the outback - there are some wild, bushy tailed squirrels about Bristol woods that are quite accustomed to Cym-by-yar sorts.

Hopefully, if most are up for it, we can all join in organising something for those evenings without the splendid night-glows the balloonists put on.

Anyway, keep the fires burning here - we will be back......

Regards,

Trikeman.

Thanks as always Trikeman :notworthy2:- hope you can finally have a good nights sleep:) (For a while anyway;))

I know less about windpower than solar so hopefully someone will come along to explain:rolleyes: :D.

Wild, bushy tailed squirrels and Cym by yar?????:Eeek: Is that like the bear in the Forest of Dean?

Thanks to both you and Terry, we have been well supported and were looking forward to it. Don't worry your goal posts are safe and the golf course too, we promise to behave. :notworthy2::notworthy2::notworthy2:

The above is a computer generated message and may not be the opinion of the poster who is an absolute nightmare after just a sniff of the barmaids apron, you have been warned.

One of these to look at - That's before the tirade of abuse you may have to endure. It's a small generator that is powered by the wind which trickle charges your battery. A bit like the big propellers you see dotted about the countryside - but smaller.

Broken Link Removed

Trikeman. (y)

Any Funster going the full hog and booking a balloon ride???
:Eeek:
Be a laugh to see a Funster flag over Brizzle!

I've just looked it up - £190 per person. I bet it would be a fantastic experience but...................I think I'll stay grounded and join the Funsters partying:BigGrin::party2:

Seen lots of those wind turbines on narrowboats so everyone can't be wrong but while they will work while your static I'm not sure they would be very happy at 60mph

Checked with the contact at Cotham Park RFC asking if there is still room. Am sending off booking slip as I type this.

Hopefully, if one of the Funsters that should have confirmed by now doesn't in the next day or so, then we may be able to get you into the Funster rally section.

Regards,

Trikeman.
