Hi, I am awaiting a new Adria PVC which should have been here last October but keeps on getting put back on a monthly basis. Now end of June and I don’t believe it will come then if I’m honest. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if it finally arrived in 2023!

Trying to get any information of the true delay situation from the manufacturers, let alone information that you can trust to be correct and up to date, I am finding impossible. Nothing on the news for Europe but some in America Re shifts being closed at factories there from 2 to 1 a day, but that is about Stellantis car plants I believe.

The delays all appear to revolve around Stellantis production in Italy at their Sevel plant but still none the wiser as to specifically why. Saying the Pandemic repeatedly does not do it for me now.

I would just like to get some honest understanding of why the monthly delays continue and I think all Fiat based manufacturers are pretty much the same.

I wanted to start this Thread for comments from anyone who has got confirmed news or information, rather than rumours and speculation, although if my experiences are the same as others no one will be able to confidently add an update, but here goes 👍🏻

Regards in advance if anyone can add anything

Deposits seem to vary considerably from dealer to dealer, one we spoke to wanted £5k . .

We finally ordered with another who only wanted £500, so flad we did as having £5k tied up for 14mths would have been annoying !!

Steve
We have only given a £500 refundable deposit on our Carthago. This will be the 4th new van we have ordered we have never given more than £1000.

We paid £1000 deposit on our Adria (due June July, hopefully)

We paid £1000 deposit as well on a Rapido Dreamer due November. We were asked for £5000 by another dealer. Said no.

The van is already at the builders, build date now revised to today (from a month ago) not sure why it takes 8 weeks to build a PVC 🤷‍♂️
Think a lot is getting the van over here and registering

October 21 we paid £2k deposit on our Adria and negotiated £3k discount with the price protected. Delivered to the dealer late November 22 and when I ran the spec through the Adria online configurator to get a value for insurance found it had increased just shy of £20k!

After a long 14 month wait - It's finally arrived !!!

Went to look yesterday, pre dealer PDI, was really surprised how grubby it was inside straight from the factory, also compared to what you get if you bought a 'builders van' the spec if a little different, so they are definitely built specifically for the PVC market.

No LED headlights, or electric park brake  - but it's not a big deal, I can easily upgrade the headlights and I'm probably more confident with a manual handbrake when sleeping on a pitch with a slope

You might want to see if the dealer will give you a dummy invoice as insurance companies won't necessarily recognise current price unless your insurance is specific on that.Heard of a few issues with car buyers

You’ve got an auto. A manual handbrake shouldn’t be an issue when on site. Once in “park” the vans not going anywhere.
That aside, I’m chuffed for you, you’ve got your new van, many others are still waiting patiently and frustratingly.

It's not going to roll away in park, but will be subject to very slight back and forth movement if handbrake is not applied.

Also apparently it's not that good to leave only in park, as the vehicle is only holding on the 'locked gearbox' (well, I was told that once, not sure if it really matters)

Yes the parking pawl needs to be backed up by the handbrake particularly on a hill or on ramps. To avoid the transmission being constantly under stress I apply the hand brake before engaging Park. On the flat and level it's not such an issue.

Ah so I was advised correctly, thank you for confirming 👍

I agree but what I should have added was that in most cases the handbrake will need to be released before you can swivel the drivers seat which can be a problem with a manual gearbox not an auto. The handbrake should be used in conjunction with the “park” facility as others have said.

Just had an email this evening saying our van has arrived today, finally ! Still some more weeks of things to do but we’re well on the way to a 1st April pick up and could well be before that date. From official handshake in Sept 21 to end Feb 23 that‘s 17 months although i know the dealer didn’t send the order in until October.

Current van was sold at the weekend and we received the down payment today from the new owners so that was quite timely. Need to order the new router and antenna as I’d like the dealer to install the antenna, prefer him to drill a hole in a new roof🫣

Well parts of it. Taken all the pleasure out of it for me sadly. I've started looking at what else is actually in stock

When ours (finally) arrived at the dealer, they said the Elddis/Compass monthly delivery schedule was still showing our order as "due w/c 10/04/23" even though it had been delivered !!

I'm not convinced that the 'parts issues' are as bad as being suggested, I'm more inclined to think there are significant manufacturing issues ?

Certainly at the NEC last week there was no shortage of vans of every conceivable type and shape on show, and pretty much all had a 'sold' sign in the windscreen, even though they were still letting everyone go inside, and pull them about :Eeek:

If I had just closed a deal on a show van I would have wanted it securely locked, but . . . it did make me wonder if they were actually sold before they were transported to the show ?

The only one that wasn't sold was a Morelo Grand Palace priced at £438,000 . . . (although it was 12m x 2.55m, so I'm not sure were in the UK you could pitch it, and with a 12.8 ltr engine with a 500 ltr fuel tank, boasting 7.7 mpg, so I decided it wasn't for me, much to Mrs N's disappointment :wasntme:

When we went to the show last October, the Frankias we looked at were pre-sold. We were told it was part of the deal for those who'd bought them - their purchase was conditional on the dealer being able to display them at the show. To be fair to the dealer though, they were locked and you needed to be escorted in order to view them. Guess the same applies for this show as well.

Almost all the 'sold' vehicles at the show had hoards of visitors in and out of them, we also quite a few vans with damage to flyscreens and window blinds.

I guess the dealers will have to pick up the repair costs.

Marketing costs but should also indicate to the manufacturers weak points so also useful R&D!

Just beed notified our deliver time has slipped form June/July to September 16th (Adria Twin 640 SLB Auto) In a way I'm a bit relieved as it means I can try to sell privately after we return from Croatia mid-August.

Blimey. Spoken to a panel van converter. They have had 24 vehicles cancelled from their bulk order for this year by Fiat, without notice. How can a business run like that when you consider the impact on their own supply chains.

And anybody expecting their Ducato with the Maxi-Chassis will probably have the option deleted. The main man from Westfalia told me that Fiat is no longer supplying it on RHD vans.

Finally got a chassis number for my Carthago order. Eighteen months after placing the order. Expect delivery in 6 to 7 weeks as it is now in build according to the dealership.

Did he mention chassis cabs or just vans? I’ve suspected for a while that anything with the 4250 / 4400 weight upgrades won’t get built by Fiat. They’d rather switch that build capacity to standard spec Ambulances that are required at that weight.
