Hi, I am awaiting a new Adria PVC which should have been here last October but keeps on getting put back on a monthly basis. Now end of June and I don’t believe it will come then if I’m honest. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if it finally arrived in 2023!

Trying to get any information of the true delay situation from the manufacturers, let alone information that you can trust to be correct and up to date, I am finding impossible. Nothing on the news for Europe but some in America Re shifts being closed at factories there from 2 to 1 a day, but that is about Stellantis car plants I believe.

The delays all appear to revolve around Stellantis production in Italy at their Sevel plant but still none the wiser as to specifically why. Saying the Pandemic repeatedly does not do it for me now.

I would just like to get some honest understanding of why the monthly delays continue and I think all Fiat based manufacturers are pretty much the same.

I wanted to start this Thread for comments from anyone who has got confirmed news or information, rather than rumours and speculation, although if my experiences are the same as others no one will be able to confidently add an update, but here goes 👍🏻

Regards in advance if anyone can add anything

The converters are having to deal with whatever ‘mix n match’ base vehicles are turning up from Fiat - who in turn are in the hands on their own suppliers (particularly electronics components) - and that’s been happening for the past year or so, and I suspect will continue for a while to come.

I’ll not bothered that our Adria didn’t come with the latest LED dash or lights but I do welcome the electric parking brake which makes swivelling the drivers seat so much easier.

I get the imppression vans destined to be PVC's are built to a unique 'camper van' specification which is a bit different to the normal specs if you went and ordered a van from a UK dealer that is just a 'work van'
If you order with a 9sp auto and then add the 7" screen option this would eqate to a "Techno" spec, but lots seem to still have a manual handbrake (opposed to the electric version) and halogen headlights in lieu of the LED ones 😕
That's correct. I spoke to the Stellantis representative at Caravan Salon and he said that Commercial and RVs Ducato had small differences without elaborating further.

My Auto-Trail Expedition 68 has just arrived at the dealers, ordered august 21, the latest delays are due to a shortage of foam for the travel seats and mattresses. Foam shortage.
Well at least that makes a change from blaming Brexit, Covid and the war in Ukraine

I wonder what the next page in the "book of excuses" has - a global shortage of steering wheels :worried:

Best wishes that you get it as expected now. I assume you "piggybacked" on an existing order, do you know when the dealer originally ordered it from Burstner?

Dealer called earlier today, to advise of yet another delay :crying1:

To summarise:-
ordered 5th Jan 2022 with original delivery date of June 22,
mid June updated to Sept 22
mid Sept updated to Oct 22
Nov updated to Feb 23
now it's supposedly week commencing 6th April 23 - that will be 16 months, IF it actually does arrive !!

(I could have a house built quicker !!)

How on earth can these businesses operate like this, they need to start bringing the manufacture of components they outsource to inhouse, so they can ensure they have the parts they need

We ordered a Carthago in September 2022, delivery given as August 23rd 2023, now been told September 2023 so only a few weeks more.
Being LHD it probably stands a better chance of arriving on time.

Mine was ordered in 21 and due March 22 with still no date so looking like it's going to be a 18 mth to 2 year wait with the additional disruption, additional orders for ambulances and industrial action etc

The thing that annoys me most is that it appears to be Fiat who are suffering the most. With the size of Stellantis, they should have far more leverage in the market place than just about anyone else. I work on major construction projects. Our supply chains are even more diverse and fragmented often changing greatly from one project to another. Although we've suffered greatly from price inflation over the last 18 months or so, we also purchase large volumes of steel, semi conductors etc. Our supply chains have adjusted and are functioning well. We as an industry are often been challenged to increase efficiency by adopting a more automotive approach but it certainly would come with different risks.

Is that quoted date of 6th April the…..
Build date at FIAT
Build date at your Moho builders
Delivery date to dealer
I’ve been given a similar date but that’s a build at FIAT date then it goes to the Moho builders for build then to the dealer. That’ll not arrive before June / July and that optimistic if it’s built in April. All that from an Oct 21 order date 😡😡

The van is already at the builders, build date now revised to today (from a month ago) not sure why it takes 8 weeks to build a PVC 🤷‍♂️

And all of these delays has also impacted prices !!

We ordered the same van we already have but to 23MY spec because the 19MY we have ticked all of our boxes, we went for a different colour and also the Fiat series 8 cab with the 9sp 'proper' auto and few other options.

Apart for ridiculous delays on deliveries, in just under 4 years the base cost has been hiked by a WHOPING £30k (yes, I said THIRTY thousand) - luckily we are PX'ing our current van which has also increased proportionally (to more than we paid for it) making it is a deal we can live with.

The base cost of Fiat vans and chassis have only increased in line with general inflation, so either the conversion companies or dealers (or both) are making huge profits at the moment !!

Well maybe if they were actually selling more than half the vans they typically would? Turnover must still be well down overall I'd say which is not what you'd expect in a leisure vehicle boom. Be interesting to see some of the financials.

It's not just base vehicles causing delays & price increases.

I ordered 6 windows last May. 3 arrived a few days later, 2 arrived today and 1 is still outstanding. Thankfully, these are for our own vehicle.

Prices wise, had increase notifications from 4 different manufacturers/importers in the last week alone. Some are quite big increases, way over inflation and not the first increase in the last few months from the same companies. Hope this trend doesn't last.

Just to add to the delivery misery, furniture foam is in short supply, as the motorhome industry works (" just be late. !! ) "Not just in time "that could be the next late excuse.

So . . After bring told by my dealer that my van had yet again been delayed to 6th April (estimated) I get a call late yesterday to say it had just been delivered, think they were as surprised as I was !!
So that's 14 months from order 😳

Anyway . . Finally its time to crack open the🍾 🍾 (which thankfully isn't past its sell by date)

Thatcham alarm and tracker fit all now booked in (not at dealers as too expensive)
Now I can dig out all the parts I have accumulated for the various mods I intend doing . .
Additional aux batteries
3000w invertor plus 230v wiring mods to fit changeover switch (on ehu or off grid)
Solar + victory
Victron b2b

Oh and suppose I need to deep clean my existing ready for the PX

Steve
Happy Funster now !!

Purely on the speculation front, I saw that dealers here in 🇩🇪 have the Pilote 696 model that we ordered last Sept (due in May) available in stock.
Checking the spec reveals that the digital package is missing, not even a radio supplied, so it does seem that a chip shortage or supply shortage is affecting the delivery times.
Buying a MH without radio, sensors and the other toys for over 90k is crazy business.

It baffles me given the cost of MoHo's and PVC's that some seem to be offered with a really low spec, often lower that a basic 'builders van specification'
I suppose things like a radio, sat nav, a/c, cab blinds, etc are available as a extra cost option to artificially keep the 'base' cost low . . .

The power of marketing and up selling !!

My first MH in 2013 was ready to collect and we got hit with an extra 2k because the cab was in silver.....
It was take it or leave it, had to take it as it was the only one at the time with wheelchair room inside

Luckily when we ordered we struck a deal that ensured a frozen price clause.

So glad we did, since Jan 22 the cost retail cost of our new van has increased by a whopping £17k :frowny:

Us too, fixed our price at the show last October, its the only thing we got having paid full price, large deposit & no discount.
The market is still rising & no stock, so can't see an end soon either

Deposits seem to vary considerably from dealer to dealer, one we spoke to wanted £5k . .

We finally ordered with another who only wanted £500, so flad we did as having £5k tied up for 14mths would have been annoying !!

£ 5k and still waiting
Waited 18 months for my Defender , £1k deposit & turned up wrong spec, £ 5k more but took it anyway.
So its just not motorhomes

We have a Burstner on order
We were told it had a chassis number and build was 2nd week in February
That didn’t happen
They build them in batches of models and they haven’t got enough to build our model
So moved onto another model
That means someone could order a Motorhome after you and get it before you and why some 23 models may appear for sale before yours if it’s a different model
Very annoying 🤬🤬🤬
