"A Year in Spain" My "last gasp" attempt at posting (informative info).

has martin not been tempted to get his rod out and go fishing or is that not allowed over there without an approriate licence..?

.

He's got a licence for the sea in all of Spain. Whether that would have covered a tidal river we're not sure.

He didn't try anyway.

Spring 2022 we traveled the coast, which was very nice.
Just tried to check the road we used on Map.me and they want a subscription?
i think it was 540 or 640

The 540 goes around the coast, I think.

Will be doing, but up to now we haven't spent too much time on the coast....got until the early Autumn on this trip..

have just noticed that over 20,000 people have looked at this thread judith, they may not have commented but have clearly enjoyed looking in..
it's certainly one of my 'go to' threads every morning..

.
Mine too, along with the quiz🙂

We've come to a place we've been before. Motorhome parking at a restaurant at San Roman de Vale. There's a classic walk from here to the Fuciño de Porco which we did last year. I'll dig a few photos out later. Today though we had a short walk in the opposite direction and turned around at a Mirador (viewpoint) on the main road. We chatted to a German couple for ages, and it eventually came to light that we were from the twinned towns of Sheffield and Bochum.

We're thinking we'll stay here for a couple of nights and ride tomorrow.

On the drive here we stopped to take some photos.

And naughty of me, I know, but I couldn't resist 🤭

.... to be continued. A glass of wine needs finishing ...

I'm a quick drinker ... and it was almost finished anyway.

Today's stroll took us past a local guy playing bagpipes in one of the wooden shelters on the beach.

He was still playing when we came back. It was nice to hear.

The classic walk.

You have to register if you go to park in the official parking. If you walk from here you bypass the parking. We registered last year and it wasn't necessary.

From here it's a steep climb, up and over the first hill and then the main track is joined. The aim is the lighthouse, on a walkway.

It's OK if you've never done anything like this before but it's a bit touristy 🤭🤣

So last years piccies.

And yes, the graffiti idiots can get there easily ☹️🤬

This year we missed out Foz, Cathedral Beach, San Cibrao, the motorhome parking at Playa de Esteiro and the parking at the chiringuito (with the white horse) a bit further along, before Viveiro.

All of those were good places that we parked. And I have photos of all of them, if anyone is thinking of heading there.

Good morning

We've found the ride we did last time so we're doing it again today. It's was really quiet last night even though there are around 20 vehicles here. We'll be staying again tonight.

The funny thing about this place is that the first time we pulled in here we didn't like it, and left. Maybe because it was empty during the opening up of Covid travelling. Whatever, we tried again last year to do the walk and .... we're back again. We have a good mix of nationalities here, with Brits in a Malibu campervan one side and Germans (with an Al fresco loo 😂) with a baby on the other. A Belgian just across who had an hours chat with the German yesterday, in English, a few French and a few more Germans and a scattering of Spanish.

We had a nice chat with our Brit neighbours and we've introduced them to Wikiloc. They've headed off on a walk and, not yet, returned 😳.

Our ride was nicer than last year, even, because we got told all about the renovation of the Igrexa de Santo Estevo de O Vicedo near the lovely Praia de Xilloi.

The new carvings, done on granite, but nowadays using power tools, cost €7,000. We didn't think that's a bad price.

We found a few nice level wild parking spots. They were empty, we wondered why?

Sorry about the photo overload, but there were so many different places along the route to take photos.

Keep them coming, I’ve marked a few for our trip in September.

This morning we left our spot for two nights and headed a short distance further west. We called in at a tiny supermarket we'd seen on our bike ride and got most of what we need to take us over the forthcoming weekend.

Tonight we're at Porto de Espasante, a tiny fishing port where motorhomes park without any problems. We normally eat at the restaurant in payment, but this year its all closed up.

We walked up the hill behind the port to the old fire watch out building and back down into the village, looking to buy the bits we'd failed to our have earlier. We still failed to buy the wine we wanted, but never mind, we'll buy some other bottles tomorrow if necessary.

The parking, and the view, maybe not for everybody.

And from our walk up the hill. The kid on the left, climbing on the ruins, was pointing out where the little Yorkie type dog had leapt to stay with him. It WAS wider than the photo shows. We were as amazed!

I'm not seeing what I'm posting, just the codes, so they are probably all out of order.

But these last ones I'll do one by one.

Looking back up to the old fire lookout.

And the parking seen from the village.

Are these the places of the future?

greek type places?

A quiet, very, quiet night, except for the rain that fell. We woke to misty skies, slowly clearing. It's still in the low 20's though. We decided to try one of our favourite spots. A grassy area overlooking the village of Santo André de Teixido. A touristy hamlet down at sea level.

We were here in perfect conditions a few years ago and we had a good bike ride. We spoke to a Spanish ebike rider at a viewpoint. It turned out he was a semi retired gynaecologist from Cartagena, whose family have a house in the next village (Cedeira) and where he's come for 49 of the last 50 years (52 now I hope). The missing year was spent perfecting his English in London!!

Last year we tried to stay here, it was too windy. This year it looks like it's going to be too wet. We were lucky for that first year.

The cloud and mizzle is descending again, but earlier ...

On the road over.

I'll find some photos of the views on a good day 👍

The skies cleared sufficiently for a couple of photos of the view and one of some of the ponies.

Looking down to Santo Andrés de Teixido

And the other direction towards Cedeira, a nice town with a good laundry but not good facilities for motorhomes. Parking is allowed, but it's alongside a noisy cobbled road.

We did the services at Cariño before we drove up the hill.

If you look to a warming world and no risk of wildfires, but a pleasant temperature, then would not the 20000 folk displaced in one island in Greece not look towards a safer environment?

There have been quite a few forest fires up here, there's a lot of Eucalypts and Pine to fuel them.

Enjoy the Frog Tap and enjoy Outiero de Rey.

They wouldn't suit everyone, but they suit us. We like quiet 👍

I hope you catch up with us one day. It's good to meet.
Loving the posts! I like quiet as well, currently at the parking area at Garaio National Park, no services but very peaceful. Busy last night, full of Spanish and not a peep by midnight. On a Friday. In Spain!
