"A Year in Spain" My "last gasp" attempt at posting (informative info).

A Facebook friend/neighbour from back in Murcia, questioned why we were Billy no Mates, and hadn't we visited a laundry lately? 😂, so this morning that's what we did. We drove the 12km or so to a village we'd ridden through yesterday, Castro de Ribeiras, which also has a fully serviced, including free leccy motorhome area. It also has a laundry next to a supermarket and a nearby pharmacy (always handy).

Laundry washed and dried for €7 and we pondered whether to stay. Had we not ridden through there yesterday (it's near the hides and the lake on yesterdays post) we may have parked, but instead we decided to go to the next motorhome area at Outiero de Rei, very near the Miño river. Another fully serviced area, including free leccy.

We first came here overnight two years ago, and left again the next morning. This time we've explored a bit. A few minutes walk from the parking is access to the river and a (paying) parking area with shady picnic tables and a (guarded, at this time of year at least, by a very friendly female guard) swimming area. We passed another mill, and spotted a deer and its fawn in a field below.

We were following a Wikiloc route that was walked in April. We turned back at the tiny paths through nettles and brambles, but that meant we found the newly constructed bike path and the novel postbox. Tomorrow (weather permitting) we have another 40 km route we can do on the bikes.

Our nearest neighbours here are Catalans, from Tarragona. Next to them, allegedly, are Murcianos! We've yet to make contact with them 😂

Just caught up 😉 that's with your blog not you two. 😁
Looks lovely we will be heading that way once we get ourselves in gear, night 3 since arriving at dieppe and still only travelled 103km, what with a month in the UK feeling like a constant :party2: and the time zone changes. 😯😁
So relaxing day today changed disc and pads on both bikes.👍😎 Bob

We're moving slowly ourselves. We've travelled about 150 km in a week. It's good for the fuel gauge 👍

We are looking for a bike shop to buy reserve pads I've trashed mine quicker than expected, jumartoo is very economical on brakes and prefers trees to slow her down 🤔

For a Friday night in Spain it was remarkably quiet. We woke to the sound of Golden Orioles and Martin, because he was outside preparing the bikes, was rewarded with the sight of a Pine Marten on the surrounding stone wall. I missed it ☹️.

Our 40km ride was very easy and pleasant. There wasn't much to photo, as it was mostly undulating farmland or forests. We did pass a race track, with pit bikes? preparing to race. Martin had to go for a look around.

We arrived back to new neighbours (I love this lifestyle, new people to see every day).

There's a party in one of the houses above the parking, we're hoping they run out of steam by midnight, at least 🤣🤣

Just caught up with the thread. You'll taken some great photos. Last in that area 10 years ago. Must go back. A good reminder of why it's called Green Spain

It's sooo very green up here, even this year. We were only saying today, whilst on our ride, that we could be in the "White Rose" part of the UK an area we know very well.

Maybe slightly different weather though 🤔🤭

How long does your 40 km bike ride take you?

You are inspiring us as we will be taking our electric bikes in our van.

We have 2 young dogs , who we did think about taking with us, but it would be easier without.

Would be happy leaving them 3 hours in the van.

I was just about to comment, "enough of these views, the free and picturesque parking spots, the castles and towers, the wildlife, the walks and rides, what we want is a decent laundry post!"

And you did

With ebikes, and no long stops, you'd be OK for 3 hours (or do a 30km ride instead) 👍

Martin, early this year, put himself forward as Level 3 President on iur complex. This is just the President of our apartment block and doesn't incur much work 🤔🤭.

Well, this morning was an online meeting. I left him to it and went for a proper photo-stroll along the river.

Sorry about the photo overload.

It was a good weekend stop. The birthday party even finished at 11 pm.

We're now 75km or so north, on the way to the coast, at a motorhome area at Ourol. Very nice, and thanks to the community, but it's a tad sloping. Whoever planned it didn't take "level" for motorhomes into account. Good levelling blocks are required and we only have one. We broke one in France! Some other means of levelling was put into use in our case 😂

I'll take a photo of our "now" spot in a bit and post it soon.

We´re not just following your blog, we´re following in your footsteps at the moment:giggle:.
Currently in the frog tap area, really enjoying the peace and quiet. As its Galicia Day on tuesday, we´ve decided to stay here a couple more days before heading to Outiero de Rei (which we chose before we discovered you´d been there - honest!) via Lugo for shopping and gas. Glad you´re fit to ride again after your accident, enjoying reading about your travels.(y)

Enjoy the Frog Tap and enjoy Outiero de Rey.

They wouldn't suit everyone, but they suit us. We like quiet 👍

I hope you catch up with us one day. It's good to meet.

Thank you, we are enjoying the frog tap - we like quiet as well!(y)

Look out for the guy who goes to buy Estrella Galicia from the shop. We've seen him every year we've been there. Only once this year, but he did go by with a slab on his shoulder 😂

We spent the night on the motorhome parking area of Ourol. Nice parking with services (green boxes) and leccy for each parking place and overlooking a park. Grey water has to be decanted though! And, it's rather sloping. It needs good levelling blocks. Although it's near the road, it was quiet overnight.

It's Galicia's National Day tomorrow so we're at Viveiro to get some shopping. Shops will be closed here tomorrow (we got caught out last year!)

We've, hopefully, found a quiet parking overlooking the river where we're going to walk on a long way round to the shops!

So, back at the van after a walk and an emergency shopping visit.

Just down from our parking space (pristine, because I did a mini litterpick) is the river path, starting, in the direction of the town, along a boardwalk before becoming a paved path. There were a few others on the path, two families with kids in pushchairs, a runner, two mountain bikers and three dog walkers (at a rough guess).

It was all very quiet and tranquil (as is our parking spot atm) and then we went through the tunnel under the railway and emerged into a different world.

We walked through this busy world to the supermarket nearest here (Gadis) and got back before we got too wet. Unfortunately, we forgot the main item we'd set out for 😂, so Martin has since been back to purchase it.

We did find a red wine box. Only three litres, but it's quite nice with food.

On the start of the walk.

And then emerging through the tunnel.

On the way to the supermarket we passed an old building with a walled garden. It appears to be an old convent.

And an old part of the town, with veggie gardens.
DSCN4730~5.JPG

There are a lot of, very, old buildings here with Se Vende (For Sale) notices. If this was closer to Lugo they'd be snapped up and renovated like the ones we've seen in previous days.

Oh, and it's dull, showery and cool here right now, but that's OK with us.

We're hoping to walk the river path in the opposite direction later 🤞

We had a quietish night. The parking area was tranquil but the music carried from the town. It came in waves. Oh well its all over for another year.

The river in the other direction. Lots of big fish, we think they are Mullet.

has martin not been tempted to get his rod out and go fishing or is that not allowed over there without an approriate licence..?

Spring 2022 we traveled the coast, which was very nice.
Just tried to check the road we used on Map.me and they want a subscription?
