"A Year in Spain" My "last gasp" attempt at posting (informative info).

After football had finished we moved down to the Dunas de Lagoa de Baldao and the huge parking area. It was more sheltered from the Wind, which, thankfully, has now dropped. It was quite full in the late afternoon, but by 9 pm we were almost alone. The only other vehicle(s) here are a German family in a motorhome and caravan combo. The Guardia drove around the parking and back out and we had a quieter night.

I tried for some sunset photos but it was a bit disappointing.

Heading to a service point at Cancelo soon where Martin is going to watch the first half of the Women's Football and then we have time to drive to Lidl in Carballo so I can shop during the second half.

We've not decided on a place to head for after that. Stef was up at an Ermita and tower last night (if she stayed there alone), but we don't know what her plans are for today. There are some nice places to go if the wind doesn't get up again, so 🤞🤞🤞

jumartoo still quietly following your adventures . When my hip replacement mends in a couple of months , we are going to use your trip to plan an itinerary . Hope you dont mind us copying 😂❤️👍
Not sure if you could manage your planned trip alone...you may need a guide...when do you plan doing it... after the hip hop recovery I read...well I could be available....I don't take up much space and eat little.... I'll check my schedule....🤔👍🇪🇦🌞🌞

All went to plan, except the Football Women caused a touch of angst and put us behind our (loose) schedule.

We are now parked at Stef's last night spot (she may be returning after taking Danko to a vet). It's a place we rode through last year, so we can do the same ride tomorrow, once the GPS finds us.

It has an Ermita and a high tower with a statue on top. I climbed up inside last year, Martin saved his knees. This year he thinks a sunset climb might be interesting (if he's awake late enough 😂).

A few of last year's photos, cos I haven't taken this year's yet!

We have Internet here, but it's slow.

We're parked down there (this year) somewhere where we would have been out of shot (last year) 🤣

We (jumar and myself) live in Spain. We now have a "bolthole" apartment, twixt the mountains of Sierra Espuña and the med coast of Puerto Mazarron.

But ... we still have many motorhoming trips away. Local(ish) in autumn/winter/spring, and in the summer months, further afield.

In the summer I often start a thread, but, I soon give up, due to lack of inerest, maybe? to people being away on their own summer trips, and not needing info of places to go. Any other reasons, please say!

So ... I'm happy, and willing to post, a "Year in Spain" (with maybe a dip over the borders into France and Portugal).

Any interest, starting from now onwards??
From what I see, you have readers dropping in all the time, never expect instant replies to what you print, rather treat it as a log, where people will drop in now and then, to find ideas or places of interest, and to push/encourage them to visit, Take me for instance, I am only answering here because of something you wrote back in early 2022, but what ever you decide to do, it's got to be what you enjoy doing, or it just becomes a grind, and if you do enjoy it, then it will no doubt benefit funsters now and in the future, best of luck what ever you decide to do.

Thanks for your comments. I'm enjoying doing this thread this year and I'm happy to continue through into autumn and winter, in totally different areas, but areas we know well.

We DID climb the tower yesterday evening, but we were just too early to stay up there, swaying in the wind, on the off chance it would be a spectacular view. I took a few, too early, photos though.

We'd just got back down to terra firma and Stef arrived. We had an hour to chat between our different life times. We're up early and to bed at 11.00. She's up when we've already gone riding ... and goes to bed at an unearthly hour. News from the vet about Danko is that he has to have some ABS and a very bland diet (much to his discontent).

Which brings us to today. We left (late for us) to go to the start of a ride we did last year. It went through last night's parking (after about 35 minutes). Stef was just getting started when we rode through 😂. She intends to come and join us again later when she's done some visiting elsewhere.

Just after we left Stef we rode down towards the secret beach. We stopped to watch a tree being felled. Sooo easy with heavy equipment.

We then climbed up to windy city (wind farms). From there we could see back to the beach, and even to the tower.

We got back to the hardstanding parking we normally use, and we quickly loaded up the bikes and we've gone to a nearby field that's open for parking, and the shade from a few trees.

The temperature, today, has gone up a few notches.

The really good news is that the inverter has been delivered, today, to the drop off point in Ponteceso, so tomorrow we can pick it up at our convenience.

Stef joined us last night, and we had about 45 minutes chatting time before she went to eat something and we went to bed 🤣.

She was dead to the world when we left this morning to park up next to the river at Ponteceso so Martin could go to pick up the inverter (and new cycle helmets, as it turned out).

I was left to make the coffee and I took some photos of kids canoeing.

The inverter was, temporarily fitted, then we went to the service point. We were also, urgently 🤔, looking for a place to wash the grime, sand and salt, from the van. We found one very near to our present parking spot. It's at a semi abandoned recreation area, still with tables and barbecues, but the toilet block, now vandalised, has not been rebuilt (and rightly so, in my opinion).

We know from our own resort how stupid and inconsiderate some people (youths, I'm almost afraid to say) are when they go to holiday there.

Anyway. Less of that. We were halfway here when Stef called. One of the other motorhomes was stuck in mud. Can you believe that 🤔😨🙄. Baking hot Spain and stuck in mud. She was asking for any knowledge we may have, apart from using ramps and pieces of wood. We couldn't help any more than what they were already doing (and it wasn't Stef that was stuck) so, eventually Stef went for a walk and the motorhome owners were left waiting for outside help.

I've done a mini litter pick (quite a few condom packets 🤣) so we might not have such a quiet night here tonight 🙄.

Jack Jo has just been in his old (din know how old) car. He went I to the barbecue building and looked around, and then went to the side, then scanned across the area.

I think he was mystified to why it was soooo clean and tidy 🤔😂.

I'm basking in my own sense of righteousness 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We've moved, back to where we parked before we found the car wash. No-one will know it's us coming back to this spot. This van is silver and not sand coloured 🤣

I've found some rides to do, one of which we'll do tomorrow, so it seems sensible to leave the van here and not in a remote place. Not that we feel that there would be a problem in this area, but better to lessen the chances.

Then, I'm fancying the Ermita/lighthouse/monument parking above Muxia for tomorrow night.

Again, circumstances changed our plans. Martin's had a stomach problem for a few days and didn't feel up to riding today, so we scrapped the ride part and drove to Muxia. Unfortunately we arrived at the busy, tourist car, time so didn't have much parking choice, but the place that was available was front line, perfect.

I went for a walk around and to take some piccies.

Last year I did a litter pick, this year it's not necessary.

Stef is still in "Paradise" and has even been skinny dipping. She has to leave today though (I hope she doesn't get stuck, she's on her own until tomorrow, at least) because her work is ... faintly calling her.

Sorry to hear that Martin is under the weather. Hope he's soon on the mend.
41,5°here at the moment. :hot: 🥵🥵🥵
Don't come back:ROFLMAO:

We're not even thinking of coming back until the end of September.

I don't know how you are managing to live in those conditions.

xx to you and pass on to Jac also xx

Those last photos are the type I really like, addicted to the sea and all things maritime.
Hope Martin gets well soon, read today that there is a new coronavirus sub variant doing the rounds in Spain & France so be careful, we’re hoping to head to France ourselves at the end of the month all being fine. In the meantime Henley on Thames for the weekend and walks down the river. 😊

Martin's improving, but still not right, so we've not travelled far. We've gone inland for the weekend, and forthcoming fiesta, and we first of all called into the lovely, flowery, garden motorhome area of Berdeogas. Lovely that is, until you're rudely awakened by a jet wash on the side of the van for two hours. Twice bitten (yes we tried it twice) thrice lesson learnt. The second night we were there we thought we'd sorted the irrigation jets by pliing rocks on top of them. The water pressure just blew them off and jet washed us again! There are now signs warning of the irrigation between 0100 and 0300, but nothing to say just how powerful the water jets are.

Just 4km or so, away, there's a nice parking area (also with flowers) that's quiet at night. So we're there, sitting out the mizzle and giving Martin a good recuperation time.

Stef found us again last night, and she and I had a glass of red together. She's out at another part of the coast again tonight, alone at the moment.

We've found an inland motorhome area, North of Santiago de Compostela, and about 40km away from here so we're hoping to have a quiet weekend/fiesta days there from tomorrow.

You continue to go to some fabulous places that I am noting down for our trip next year.

Many of the places you visit on the coast look like Spanish holiday places, so are probably busy in August. We would be visiting in September; will it still be busy then or would some places start to close down for the season?

Thanks for posting, I am really enjoying it

We're hoping to still be around in September and hoping for places to be a bit quieter. They ARE Spanish holiday places, but they are also, mostly, year round working towns. The North of Spain doesn't rely on tourism so much for their income.

Looks like September will be busy now as that's at least 3 of us going to be around there.

Oh and the Tour of Spain as well 😁
I think you will not make too big an impact on such a vast area. September should be good...we most likely will still be around then...still lots of places to see and things to do....it's fiesta weekend here, national holiday on Tuesday, so we can expect greater numbers of weekenders .... therefore we are searching for a bit of piece and quiet, an out of the way place...

This year we missed out Foz, Cathedral Beach, San Cibrao, the motorhome parking at Playa de Esteiro and the parking at the chiringuito (with the white horse) a bit further along, before Viveiro.

All of those were good places that we parked. And I have photos of all of them, if anyone is thinking of heading there.
Will be heading that way next year, late March this year we planned to go down the west coast of France, north coast of Spain and west coast of Portugal, but a big weather front followed us, so in the end we ended up far south to get away from it, spent most of May & June South 😞
