"A Year in Spain" My "last gasp" attempt at posting (informative info).

Now we need to see a duet, I'm afraid ... it's something for you to do on a rainy day.
Might I suggest Samba Pa-Ti, p'raps .. ?
(It's just jealousy; I have no musical aptitude whatsoever - not even for hitting things)

Just had a thought. One day, when we, eventually, visit you, we'll bring guitar and drum and play you some lovely music.

How does that sound 🤣🤣🤣 ???

Our night at the cemetery was as deathly quiet as we'd hoped.

We drove 4km extra this morning to get diesel at €1.34.5 instead of 10 cents more on our route. We also took advantage of a service point at the next door Eroski supermarket.

We're now at a lovely motorhome parking at the hamlet of Ria de Abres, which was, allegedly on a via Verde. So I was looking forward to my first ride in exactly two weeks. Unfortunately, the first part was a link to the via verde, so it was a bit more up and down than I wanted ... but the via verde itself also turned out to be pretty bumpy, with many dark tunnels. I've survived without, hopefully, any lasting after effects.

Oh, and we're now in Galicia, a little earlier than we anticipated.

Last night we had Belgian neighbours. I was gifted a bottle of Belgian beer this morning as we said goodbye. (Martin had already told them he found their beer too strong, so he didn't get one 🤣)

I had it before lunch, and after my bike ride (photos are still in the camera) and it was very nice.

Sooo gotta fire up the photo app.

And here are a few piccies.

On the road ... some of it newly surfaced (I was very happy that the climb up was on small roads. No stress on my ribs).

Just before almost being attacked by a dog. The dog dazer was used, once again.

Then we rode the via verde again. Through all 6 tunnels

and continued on the bit we missed yesterday. We're now parked at the end of it (an official, serviced motorhome parking at the village of A Pontenova), and just past the tower on the next photos (we just HAD to go up to walk on the top).

And ... my reward. I like Belgians, as much as their beer.

One of my all time favourite beers hope you enjoyed it 🍺

I did, once I got through the froth that appeared on top when I poured it into a glass. Never had that happen before 🤔

This morning Martin checked the weather forecast. Rain on the coast, and slightly less rain where we were, getting less if we headed south.

So South, it was.

We left last night's quiet spot, passing more of the mineral mine towers, and headed to our present spot.

We drove up and over a hill, to arrive on the very same River Eo. The hamlet (it's not more than that) has a serviced motorhome area, but it's not in a pretty spot, so we went down to the river to park. It's beautiful down here.

We walked for an hour along the river and then retraced our route in time to go for a local lunch. Three council workers, strimming the walking path, were passed, and repassed on our return. They arrived back at the parking for their lunchbreak and we spoke. The woman was Italian, living here and speaking both Galego and Castilian Spanish. She couldn’t work out if we had a Brit or a German accent.
🤣

Our lunch was a pretty good, basic menu. Choice of only two starters and two mains, but we thoroughly enjoyed what we chose. Martin had two desserts and we shared most of a bottle of red. €22 all in 👍👍 and we have a "doggy bag" of pork for a meal tomorrow or Thursday 😂.

Oh and no rain, just sun, so we're glad of some shade.

Last night's stop was, again, very quiet, but we moved uphill to the official parking early on so we weren't meeting the forest workers coming down the narrow access.

We decided to retrace our route and park at the motorhome area in Meira. A new, well thought out area, but no shade and apparently sometimes the local kids like to kick a football around near the motorhomes.

Anyway, we parked and rode.

A very short, easy ride. All on tracks and small roads. We detoured to view the source of the Miño river. We were contemplating whether we'd found it when an Orange/red haired, tattooed, pierced vision walking by spoke to us in Spanish. She was a lovely person. Local Galegan, living and teaching in Reading. Back staying with her parents for the summer. She chatted for a while, in excellent English, as we soon switched to that language 🙄😂, and she told us about the source and the ongoing research as to whether it was there or not.

We then continued and the dog dazer was put to good use on two or three occasions. Gotta check the battery, we don't want to get caught out.

The town of Meira has everything, in a low key way, with a monestary and a church at its centre.

We're now at an old favourite. We call it the "Frog Tap" parking because of its frog tap, but it's at the village of Castro de Rei, and from where we can do a longer ride tomorrow, weather permitting.

The source ...

Spanish and Italian neighbours so far. And yes, we all put our canopies out. Even here it's hot in the sun. They'll all be away soon.

Our newly fitted Maxxfan is working brilliantly.

Great photos as always. We're a bit further north at Ria de Abres, been overcast but warm for the 3rd day in a row, with a pleasant cool breeze.

Yes, on the parking - lovely and quiet! Thanks for the info on it from your stay. We're heading back up to Vegadeo for the launderette, then probably back here again for an afternoon walk and overnight stay.

Yes it's a great stopover...the Galician association of motorhomers are very proactive and provide great free places for all of us to use..,👍

Glad to be able to pass on info that's been helpful xx

We arrived at the Frog Tap parking area with two others already there. An Italian van and a Spanish van. We were joined, later, by another Spanish van (with old people in it 😂).

We went for a 42km ride (double my distance so far) and on our return we find ourselves totally alone.

We've done it again 😂. Even free leccy can't persuade people to park near us. We've showered after our ride, as well 👍

The ride was, possibly, the best we've done in Galicia. It was graded easy, and it was, only made a bit harder by the vegetation in the latter parts.

An old mill, renovated to become a home.

We had to use the dog dazer again, on a couple of occasions. We do like dogs, but not when they are attacking us.

I sponsor food for a dog, monthly. The same place (Shelter from the Wind) in English, owned and run by Silvia, an old orienteering friend of ours, and where Tam Northernraider got two of his companions (Jade and Milo) from.

This is my doggy for this month.

Does the dog dazer work that well?
When we walk, usually picking up a stick or pretending to get a stone /rock works very well.

It really does work. It seems better on bigger dogs rather than small yappy ones. If we can turn the big dogs away from us we're happy. The little ones are more an irritation than a threat.

Picking up a stone does seem to work, but it's not so easy to do when riding a bike.

I enjoy reading your posts but don’t interact much. I might also use some of the info re the places you visit in future so please keep it up 😀
