Might have to rethink the pups going swimming as I will have to stake them down if they go in as that river is a bit fierce 😂

After a couple of blustery days on the Wild West Windy Way we’ve headed inland to Mountshannon on the shore of Lough Derg - County Clare side. Staying at Lakeside Holiday Park which, despite being somewhat in need of a bit of TLC, does have a faded charm to it. Camped right on the shoreline with the weather perking up and a Jamesons to sup, life is good.

Further to my last post, here's a daytime view, once the pub shut the road was quiet and i got a good nights sleep, an excellent place for a free stopover before or after a Portsmouth ferry.

I saw this post and it went into the memory banks.
Today we picked up MH after a repair to fridge and went there
It is indeed a really really lovely view.
The burgers at Mick's which is open til 0300 are huge. Lacking in vegetation but excellent value.
Minis golfs and motorbike meetings whilst we were there.

Todmorden, my home town! You are approximately 1.5 miles from my home. If you get the chance call in at the ‘Staff of Life’ around a mile up the old towards Burnley, best beers and food in the area👏👏👏
Unfortunately we only had one night in Todmorden and are now in Cannock. My wife's ancestors built and lived in Scaitcliffe hall and we were in Todmorden to look around the old hall (now partially derilict) .

My son had his wedding and reception at Scatcliffe Hall in 1999 was a nice venue but later I believe the family who had it last didn’t know what they were doing and there were rumours of wayward son selling drugs. Do you know any more about it?
