A photo of the day thread

Wendy. Might be my phone but no photo come up. Ignore it was and they have and they are beautiful. Xx
It's a lovely park Joy, only 10mins walk from my house. I can't believe how tame everything has become, coming so close to me. Just before the swans moved they were sunbathing on the bank with a bloke laid literally a couple of feet away from them on the ground, taking pics. As I had the dog with me, on a very short lead, I didn't attempt that!?

Queen's park, took our grandaughter down there when she was smaller, loved the children's play area and a walk round the lake. Re learnt to ride bikes there on a course run by the local authority prior to full timing and I played cricket over the back a few times in the dim and distant past, still stay on Lane End Farm when we are in the UK.

matamoros I usually moan to myself about people who don't put where their photos are taken and I've broken the rule myself! Thanks for your comment about Queens Park, Heywood. I know Lane End too as my storage is very close. ?

Many years ago, I walked through the park eating some crisps. A squirrel jumped on my back, ran down my arm and nicked my crisps and ran off with them!

I am just loving your photos of late. Do you have a new camera? They are amazing.

Thanks Joy I do like my photography but no expert. As from November last year all my photos are taken on my phone camera which is a IPhone 11 Pro the camera is fantastic which is why I went for it. Thanks for the kind words. (y)

I'm posting this as a tribute to the beautiful Pen Hillary who was shot by some twisted ********* and killed and her Cob (Stocky) who was left for dead

That is so sad... What kind of person could take a life so pointlessly. I do think that mankind needs to do something quickly to sort out our species and its values before Nature hits back. That is such a poignant photograph. :(

Stocky has survived, and is in the care of a Swan rescue centre and is almost fit enough to be released back on to the canal. The worst thing is these **************** left them and some ducks they also shot, nothing was taken for food as if they were hunting.

I wanted to ask if he survived but didn't dare. Am I right in believing though that they mate for life and he will miss his mate?

I am cheating again and showing two photographs taken last summer to remind us all of what we are missing.
Both are of a beach near Collioure, France. (Plage d’ Ouille).

One of our favourite places.

Our Pied Wagtails are nesting again this year.
They nested in amongst an engine that was covered in plastic sheeting last year, but the sunlight and wind have caused the sheeting to break up, so this year they are nest building in amongst scrap metal in a trailer.

Yes they mate for life, and he will pine for her for a while but if another Pen appears then he will try to mate again they had been successful every year for years

Airgun wielding ************ has got a £3000+ price on it's head

Well after all I said about my enforced lockdown, I got a call to fix a fault on the tractor, but it's up in Ayrshire at the moment (240 mile round trip :(), in a forest, so social distancing not a problem. Funny thing was, I never even noticed Dalquharrie Castle till I turned round to come home !
