One of our pair of nesting Blackbirds. They are beautifully vocal and reasonably friendly. This was taken through a shed window (needs a clean) so is not overly clever.

Love the sounds the male makes. But they are very really territorial and what they are singing is the equivalent of "stay away from my place", which is the equivalent of what a lot of us are saying at the moment

These don't seem to be keeping other birds away. We have Starlings, a few Thrushes and Sparrows (A picture from Monday). A Green Woodpecker and Tits (tee hee). Occasionally a Bullfinch (This is a picture from four weeks ago). We are very lucky, we get many more wild things in our garden than the neatly manicured gardens either side of us.

These don't seem to be keeping other birds away.

Its other Blackbirds they want to keep away, especially other male ones. They can quite vicious. Mind you the Robins are even worse.

After reading jongood Sri - Lanka post I thought it’s about time I treated
“Lanka” our wooden elephant that we brought home from Kalutara
Sri-Lanka back in 1999 to a bit of a makeover.
Just got to get him out of the French doors for a rub down and wax.
Seems a lot heavier than he was 20 years ago ?

I wouldn't touch that elephant with a 1" paint brush.
He looks fine au naturel and any marks are purely patina - ask any expert on the Antiques Roadshow.
He'll never forgive or forget you if you tickle him where you shouldn't.
20 years isn't old for an elephant but I know what you mean about things getting heavier.

A few from our daily exercise walk today...

Heading towards Carrock Fell on Northern edge of the Lake District...

Down into the valley of the Gillcambon Beck

There is a footbridge across the beck as well as the ford...

Loads of Wild Garlic and other flowers...

Nice reflections in the water...

Back up the other side of the valley...

To nice blue skies...

With further views to Carrock Fell and beyond...

Came across these Cowslips with multiple flower heads. Never seen as many heads on one flower. Counted seventeen on this one.....

Our walk was in Ashdown Forest where we live, which is the setting for the Winnie the Pooh books
