A favourite little drive of ours not far from home in SW Northumberland is the very minor road that passes Ridley Hall Southwards climbing up onto Ridley Common towards Whitfield with views to die for. This line of knurled and stunted old Beech Trees were probably part of a Beech hedge many generations ago before being left to grow. The road left of centre in photo has a gradient of 25% probably the steepest public road in the county, it is single track and curves around the hill as you ascend or descend and is not for the faint hearted and is a big no no in snow or icy conditions. Locally referred to as the “Steel” road as it passes close to a farm of that name.

Two kingfishers together! I’ve been trying for months just to see one close enough to photograph!
Where was that?

They occasionally come get so close I can't focus on them. The one below was about ten feet away.

If you visit this way let me know and I would be happy to take you there.

I can't promise a sight of a Kingfisher but we see one around 3/4 of the visits we make.

Another beautiful day, so we decided to cycle to Denia to have a look at the fallas that are being set up as part of the fiesta celebrations there. Slight delay due to contacting the emergency services about a palm tree on fire, but we got there. Well worth it! Janie

We fly a flag at our gaff and our neighbours around us find it useful for knowing when to put the washing out or wind direction to light a bonfire, but over the past few days our 3 Lions flag took a real hammering in the winds.

Knock on the door Saturday morning and it's Pam from across the road with a prezzy, a new flag and it's our county flag.

Sun rise this morning.

Love Bermuda,
Me and Mrs CC have been three times and just walk everywhere day and night the people are so friendly and you don’t feel any sort of threat.
My number one choice for a relaxing week away (y)
