A photo of the day thread

I lived in Mevagissey for 12 years, I think the house name is Ropehawn or something like that. I used to regularly fish in the bay and remember the house being renovated around 1984-86 with all building materials being taken across by boat from Meva and/or Fowey as there is no vehicular access down the cliff from Trenarren. Regards Eddy
Hi thanks thats it called Ropehaven there is a path down but very dodgy we once went over loaded with plasterboard & got caught in the current & ended up on Par beach cheers Rod

About five minutes ago, taken from camping imperium Villajoyosa, the sun was hitting the mountains and dark sky’s over the mountains.

Back to Stourhead for the day...again. We missed peak Autumn colours but it's still a lovely place to be as Autumn gives way to Winter.View attachment 268910
Just looked Stourhead up, looks like a great place to visit! Any recommended camp sites nearby?

We Britstopped nearby but Stourhead have their own campsite I believe (Via Caravan & Motorhome Club?).
It's worth planning for 2019 and trying to get there in "peak Autumn".

Blimey how long did it take cheers Rod

At least 12 hours overnight, I remember dad trying to time it so that he missed the notorious traffic jams on the Exeter bypass. I think we only did the journey once in that Morris 8, we got what seemed a huge Austin 'shooting brake' after that, it ended up the same maroon colour, I think he had a friend in the paint shop at the engineering firm he worked at:).

Babysitting our first granddaughter. I know it's a bit indulgent posting this picture but we are so happy. Born at 32 weeks by emergency c- section, three weeks ago on Wednesday and let out of hospital on Friday weighing 4lbs.

Came across a field entirely covered in the gossamer webs of young spiders today. Given it is late November I doubt any of them will survive. :)

The webs were moving in the breeze so I made a little video of them.

That’s great, It looks like water.... although I’m not fussed on spiders.....

I took a picture of the brightest light in the sky this morning just before sun rise, then I heard on the radio that it was Venus which is one of the brightest objects in the night sky. Venus is so bright because its thick clouds reflect most of the sunlight that reaches it back into space also because it is the closest planet to Earth . Venus can often be seen within a few hours after sunset or before sunrise as the brightest object in the sky other than the moon that is:). Venus is the brightest planet in the Solar System and as soon as I can get my picture transferred I will.(y)

That's why it is variously called the 'Morning Star' or 'Evening Star' which was the name chosen for the last steam locomotive to be built by the late lamented British Railways:)

Another interesting, well possibly, fact is that James Cooks voyage on Endeavour which led to Australia was to observe the transit of Venus

"The transit of Venus is very important in the history of Australia. The main aim of Captain James Cook'sEndeavour voyage was to observe the transit of Venus from Tahiti in April, 1769. The transitobservations were used to calculate the size of the solar system which assisted in nautical navigation." :)

St. Blazey was the last town on my dad's route plan when we drove down from Rochdale overnight to Par sands in the 50's.

Two adults, 2 kids, a dog and all the camping gear in this
