So today I’m in the kitchen making Dundee cake.

There’s a terrific thump/bang at the front of the house...

I went to investigate and found a Falcon and pigeon just outside the lounge picture window..and a big bird shaped smudge on the glass!

The Falcon had moved away by the time I got the camera, but didn’t move away until he’d finished his meal..

We have found feathers in the garden before but always blamed the local cats- but has probably been down the Falcon before.

The smudge on the window didn’t come out very well but you can see clearly a body bit and 2 wings!

I was out looking for new fishing spots today in the Cognac region when I came across memorial to two officers of 'Operation Frankton' more commonly known as 'The Cockleshell Heroes'. The memorial is dedicated to Major "Blondie" Hasler and Corporal Bill Sparks who passed through the village with the assistance of the local Resistance on their way from the raid on German ships in Bordeaux to Ruffec where they were helped to return to the UK by other Resistance members which included an English lady who was prominent in that area.

The photos aren't good because of glare (I did not have a polarising filter with me) but they give an idea of the information displayed.

Brave, brave men.
The Bordeaux branch of the Royal British Legion hold a parade there every year alongside representatives of the French organisations and from the Consulate in Bordeaux. We also visit the "Chemin de la Liberty" site down in the Pyrenees which allowed for thousands to escape into neutral Spain.

Bet you get a great view of the que of rubber neckers driving past on the A303 from there:D

After letting it ferment at room temperature for a couple of days I put this in the fridge today. Homemade Korean Kimchi. The only problem is there is so much garlic in it I have to sleep outside after eating any. :)
