Looking from Hopegill Head, at the highest point of our walk today.

Cloud lifting as we descended :

Then the sun came out!

Cracking walk today, sunny all day. Walked from Braithwaite CACC site.

Clear and Frosty overnight, the view of Skiddaw from the site.

First peak of the day, Ard Crags, so tramped into Newlands Valley.

Straight down the side from the top, and then up over Scar Crags. Always think this is a very elegant Fell, quite a slender curving ridge. Looking back over it.

Final (big) peak of the day, Causey Pike. Coffee and fig rolls on top, then hightail it down before it goes dark.

Been to Braithwaite many years ago camping in a tent.
Me and my wife had a great long weekend and was wall to wall 🌞.
Our tent was by the stream.

Just seen about the fig rolls.
We had a couple with our mid afternoon cuppa.
Made them ourselves from a Paul Hollywood recipe.
Been in the freezer for a while, they defrost nicely.
Yummy.

Snap. I had a walk over yesterday but there was a different van on that pitch. Hope you enjoyed your stay as much as we did.

Home for us for grandchild duties. Enjoy your trip.

The crescent 🌙 at 1705 today.
Don't know what that star is called, or is it one of the planets?View attachment 1007364
Useless fact:
Once the moon gets more than halfway to full, it changes from a Crescent moon to a Gibbus moon.
But it’s rarely mentioned, maybe because Crescent moon sounds much more romantic than Gibbus moon, or maybe it’s because a Crescent moon is more aesthetically pleasing?

Tried to get photo of crescent moon and star with my iPhone SE but didn’t show moon as it was , 17.33 last night in Suffolk but looks ok

I've just noticed that the moon is the opposite way round in New Zealand :giggle: No sign of Venus tonight.

When we were talking to the guys at the observatory in New Plymouth last week they were saying that the constellations are the other way up here, so Orion is standing on his head :ROFLMAO:

Edited to say that Venus is now visible and it's below the moon to the left.
