Nice calm morning, photo from the Aire at Pont Réan, should have been €6 but no body to collected, so we did it French style and left.View attachment 243019 View attachment 243020

We love that aire !! ,
when we were there last year there was a local mobile stall selling cooked chickens and roast potatoes done in garlic , very tasty but a bit pricey

Saw the sign for the cooked chickens but did see any.

That sounds an interesting section to follow. I'm probably being thick but I can't find it anywhere in chat?

Click forums, then the whole choice of forums comes up, then scroll down til you find continental touring and then there are different sections for different countries.

Still staying with my sister at Fay Sur Lignon. Just got in after a lovely walk with her dog under a beautiful sunset.

Earlier in the day we went to Puy En Velay, home of the famous lentils, where Swmbo took this one:

Nearly had a visitor this afternoon..... came into land in our field then hopped over the hedge into the next one..

Don`t know if it was a false landing or if they were on a call out..

Hour later and it was up and away. terrific stench of Avtur/Avcat when it landed ..

Following up on the comment made by @Allanm a couple of days ago. regarding the speed of the the riders in the Tour de France. I have uploaded a video we took of the Tour of Britain two years ago to show not only the riders speed, but that of the entourage that follows a major cycle race.
Bear with the video and watch out for the ambulance at 2 min 38 seconds.

The red dot on the image below shows the position of the camera and an idea of what the cyclists can see as they ride towards the bend.

Here is a picture of Fanny, resting in Noëlle's field. She has been resting quietly since Wednesday and by the looks of things will be there for a few more days until we move to watch the TDF Carcassone and Bagnères-de-Luchon stages. Only Dennis and I this year!

The temperature when I took the picture was 35.6°C, about half an hour ago after topping up the fresh water tank.

I added a few pictures to Fannying about in France in the France, Continental Touring Section, this morning. They are from yesterday's 14 July randonnée.

Cheers:france:Clive:france:

Five minutes of assorted motorised support & emergency vehicles, motorbikes and one fire truck (?) and about 30 secs of pedal power .
I'm not sure I'd spend hours waiting by the roadside for that brief circus.

I wonder what the carbon monoxide emissions (briefly) do to the normally fresh village air as that monstrous cavalcade passes through the rural countryside .

Cycling a healthy alternative - do me a favour .

To be fair, the stage we watched had the passage de Caravanne ( all the sponsors vehicles, like a speeded up carnival with assorted goodies being thrown to the crowd) first which lasted about 20 minutes, then the bikes and support cars, which lasted about 5 - 6 minutes.
We parked for free, there was live music and food in the village and a fantastic atmosphere.
As for pollution, all the team cars were Skoda’s fitted with VW engines, which we know only emit perfectly clean air with a hint of bulls*it............

I bet the cars spew out less poison than motorhomes
