90 days or more in Europe

But we were there..when needed.BUSBY.
No one is disputing that the point is again like tourists we are not the only country to be involved

It doesn't matter how many ways you try to make out like we are the savours of Europe.

As I understand it, it’s a rolling 180 days.

The start date of the rolling 180 days is not fixed, it changes with every day that passes.

So a rolling 180 days would mean what? It has to have a start date, which i assumed would be the first time you set foot in the 'zone' ... so the clock starts ticking from there ?

the amazing thing is in how many chinese m,homes are getting there for winter.
more ever year these days .

As soon as you land in France or Spain I would say then you have 90 days.

No, as I understand it, the clock would need to start from 180 days ago.

So, it may be that, depending on your previous visits, you could not go tomorrow.

Surely nothing changes till after we leave the eu

That would be rather nice but, unless the leaving date is specified as a universal start date, I think it can only be as I’ve described.

Yes, you have to look backwards. Each day that you are or propose to be in the zone you need to go back 180 days and count how many of those days were also spent in the zone.

If at any time the total exceeds 90, you have overstayed your welcome.

It does also mean that if you were in the zone 180 days ago, one of those days will fall out of the calculation for each day going forward, so you could balance them out if necessary and you had started another visit.

A question ! If I had an Irish and a UK passport and the UK leaves the without a deal resulting in 90 days in every 180 for UK citizens and I wanted to spend say 5 months in the E.U. would I leave and return to the UK on my Irish passport or leave and return using a combination of the 2 passports ? I'm not sure how it would work at the UK port of entry if I turn up with an E.U. Passport ?
I addressed that in post#160. some have 3.
Like I said, I’m not being drawn into a debate on Brexit... BTW, I disagree, because I think we’re really, really important! Where is your patriotism? Good god, you should be ashamed of yourself...
Patriotism?? :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
Have we ever been part of the schengen area ?
No
That does not make sense !
As Tam Northernraider has now posted a link to, the Norwegians have been doing it for years. Far cheaper than keeping the old folk at home. The Uk only gives free holidays to the criminal scum.

So really it was a pointless post then.

This is the problem how people then get accused of being argumentative.

No they don't!!!

I fail to see it making a difference other than you abide by the rules that have always been in place, considering we have never been in the Shenzhen area .

I’ve been fortunate to visit Shenzhen; flew to Hong Kong and then overland from there But it’s a long long way to go.

Can't see Britain ever doing that lol , they prefer to cut benefits than increase them. Could you imagine the uproar if they started sending pensioners to spain for 6 months every year.

They could only go for 90days at one time (assuming we actually left).

Say they are there Dec (missing Xmas with family!), Jan, Feb then they couldn't go back during Mar, Apr, May.
Would it be sensible to send them for the hot months of Jun, Jul, Aug?
UK would be saving Winter Heating Allowance but might have to introduce a Summer Cooling Allowance!
Instead of killing them off in the Winter, we'd be doing it to them in the Summer.

And, of course, accommodation would be so full that prices would have to rise, thus upsetting the "school-kids" folk.

In fact, leaving EU will save us 50% from adopting this scheme as "we" will only be able to send them for 3months in total, unlike Norway with it's 6months.
WOW: a Brexit Gain, albeit hypothetical. (Sorry Jim; hope this comment isn't too toxic!)

Theoretically they could go Sep, Oct, Nov and Mar, Apr, May but that means still paying WHA, so no gain.

Your machine readable passport will flag up how long you have been in the EU no other checks are needed. If we don't get a deal, overstay the 90 in 180 you may been fined or refused re admission back to the EU
