You are witnessing the end of Cheap Morocco.

It cost us £30 (yes pounds) eating out tonight in Marrakesh including tip, over looking the square in a terrace restaurant, two courses and sides. drinks and mint tea to finish....:Eeek:

Forgot to mention, that price was for 8 of us, so £3.75 each.

I hope my comments have not put you off travelling to Taghazout. The storm is over, there will be some more rain no doubt but nothing like last night. The sun has been shining for much of the day and the ground is drying nicely. Roadways have been fine. The surfaces has been roughed up in some places by the water flowing through but they are still firm. :thumb: The area behind our van is sloping and was not used as a thoroughfare or for parking. It was soft sand even without the rain. I don't know why anyone would try to drive through it but the french guy did and got stuck. Simples. :Eeek:

As the photos show, the weather was good enough to get the washing done and it is all dry. :thumb:

Someone asked for photos of the washer so there it is.

And what do you think of our van's front end cover. Inspired by something we spotted locally.

great wash machine ,reall handy many a great moment doing the weekly wash, looks as if Cathryn havin a ball, enjoy ya travels,:thumb:

Met up with a few Funsters, Freespirit, Pinkie and Tremaer at Essaouira. Lovely day after all the rain. First nice day since we arrived in Morocco.

Daiboy

Now fine in Marrakech.. No rain, the shorts are on..
We have 2 minibus arranged for 1pm taking 16 funsters into town...:thumb:

I would post pics but those money grabbers in the square pester you as soon as you point a camera at anything..

Ref the Guardian parking next to Mosque.. Definately 100dh a night, tried to negotiate with them but no movement...

Pinkie - Inverter problem

Hi all - I had a look at Pinkie's loss of 240v AC sockets today. She has a Vechline Power Convertisseur de Tension 1000w unit fitted which is tripped out with red and no visible reset button.

Dieboy and myself have tried to find a user manual on the web but nothing other than a site wanting to charge 39euro for one.

The unit has a USB port along side the control switch and alarm lamp which I suspect is for a computer reset ??

If anyone has a similar unit or can find a manual Pinkie would be grateful for assistance.

I have tried disconnecting the 12 v supply and reconnecting as in reboot with the output socket disconnected but that didn't work. The unit may well be duff - however the manual should when found shed further light ?? The input voltage is fine at 12.5v - trips at - 10.5v we did discover on line.

Pinkie has asked me to post this on her behalf as her expertise is really more on Prada handbags - lol.

Many thanks.

Silver F1.. 8 vans here at Marrakech. :thumb:
All ( as far as i know) staying tomorrow night...
See you soon...

Well, we're here at Camping Ferdaous in one of the compounds at the back of the site. Looked at the funster vans, but guess what? They're all out enjoying themselves.

It's a one-nighter for us. Off to Mohammedia in the morning.

In case I don't catch up with you, as you rise up to the mountains on the motorway to Taghazout, there is a contraflow. This has been caused by 2 landslips and part of the southbound tarmac is missing...

Off for drinks at Taros bar with Freespirit, Marjohn and Dai.

It has been lovely to finally meet some fellow funsters, although they are all leaving tomorrow, we are staying put for the rest of the week and then heading to Marrakech and then Fez and Chechouan (misspelt me thinks!)

Then back to Scotland as our boat back to Spain leaves 31st Jan.

Wishing all the funsters in Maroc, happy travels and sunshine! :thumb:

Absolutely,

Pinkie, There is a whole world out here waiting to hear about and see your van . Please tell and post pictures. Hope all is well with the three of you. :thumb:

Oh, didn't realise - sorry!!!!

Just got my laptop charged from Daiboy's van, so only just seen the post. I shall take some pics and post them in the morning as it's starting to get dark now. Travelling without sockets is a problem!

Re. the work - it's okay, not perfect but better than it was. Not entirely happy with it and didn't get any internal stuff done as I gave up in the end.

Yes we are all fine, had a coffee with daiboy and Poppy and I were rather taken with the LUXE of his van, Poppy asked him if she could have it (doesn't mince her words!), preferably without him in it................sadly he declined her rather good offer of taking it off his hands! :Rofl1:

First official Morocco 2014 social tonight outside the van...:thumb:
Also managed a meet up with Silver F1 and another funster (sorry I forgot the name)..

Plan tomorrow is first stop at Marjane supermarket, Champers wants a washing machine and a few others want to buy a few bits. Then on to Tiznet......

Well since everyone is now leaving here and haven't driven in ages, since the van has been in the garage, perhaps it's time to have a change of scene, where are all the funsters in Morocco over the next few days?

Might be persuaded to move if anyone can solve my socket problem and their is a party to be had!

Much as I love it here, I would quite like to be driving again.

Pinkie

Come down to tagazoute I am sure some one will be able to help out if possible
Or try to sort out antoher way for you to charge up phones

I think it's about 100 miles so about 2 and half hours

Had another nice morning listening to the guardians having a good chat with all their mates and coughing/hawking for the last hour. Lovely chaps and so understanding when I explain to them I wear all my t shirts.
Now up and out of bed with a coffee and book.
Looking forward to a lie in at Taghazoute.
And to think Lynne calls me Victor Meldrew!

Good morning John or Kath
How far down are you?
Why are you not asleep like the rest of them?

Hi, if you are using the toll road look out for the speed cops with a camera sat on top of the central concrete lane barrier resting up against the flyover bridges , we thought they were shepherds , :Rofl1:

No vehicle about , they must just drop them off at strategic places .:Eeek:

we are still at Tagazoute , a few have moved so a bit more space now and ground drying out nicely ,

We left Camping & Caravaning Fenrdous, very happy with the site Good big showers with hot water, electric all for £6 a night. We had a brilliant time in Marrakech, had a tour of the tanning still been done the same for hundreds of years.

I had wanted some Argan Oil and we managed to find the certificated premises was so interesting seeing it been worked and we knew we had the genuine oil at a fraction of the price in the uk.

We are now on the way to Tagazoute Beach, got 97 miles left before we get there, blue sky's and warm sunshine
