Which actually is the purpose of the message. Andrew, Mr Motorhome, put out a feeler a while back suggesting a get together here in late January and Gwyntaxi raised with Sue and I the spectre of redevelopment of Taghazoute beach

Re BEACH PARTY!! Still planning this but thought we would wait until we are all in Morocco. Rough plan is sometime between 20th - 23rd Jan at Tagazhout Beach with those that are there. Will keep you all informed nearer the time.

Danced and partied until 3am last night at the Tropical Party, this morning it is "Champers and Bacon Butties Party at the Briseys" then "Villasol Christmas Lunch Party"

Oh it's party party party with the Funsters - Merry Christmas all :Eeek:

Party!!!!

Sounds great.....................mmmmm Champers and bacon butties - that is class!!!

We hope to make the beach party in Morocco! To everyone, everywhere, have a great day!

Trouble in Morocco?

Hi All
I've travelled extensively in south Spain but never Morocco.
I've heard tales of trouble - particularly if you have a nice looking van and that old trucks and suchlike fare better generally and draw less attention. I was also advised to pass through Tangier swiftly for the same reason.
So I'm just wondering about other peoples experiences and whether the stories are justified?

No, they are not !

But there again, we have an old van:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

We entered on our first trip this year via the new Tangier med port.. It's a LONG way from Tangier and nothing there, you leave the port. Bit of dual carriageway and then on to a toll motorway and the coast... No issues with the van anywhere and ours was just a year old, it got treated no different to the older vans...
Like most things, you can hear all the horror stories unless you speak to enough people...

Oh.. Watch out in Barcelona / Madrid you will get robbed, gassed etc etc...

But Morocco electrics, if you get a good volt it's bound to be reverse polarity. I've lost track of how many people were electrocuted last year.

Your safer in morocco than Spain anyday, you still have to be aware and take sensible precautions,I think these people that spread some of these stories have never been to Morocco, probably never taken a van across the water, but probably knows some guy down the road that knows someone who got there handbag snatched, mind they probably did leave it on top of the dashboard, what do they expect, it would get snatched just about anywhere in UK to if your gonna put it on display, hope this puts' your mind at ease, just be sensible as you would over here.gwyntaxi.

Brian you don't half talk some sh1te sometimes

It's no laughing matter. These were honest, decent motorhome users, just like all the FUNsters, out there to get a bit of winter sun, out there to eke out their miserable pentions.

Then they hook up and in a flash their smouldering, charred, bodies bring the harsh realities, and unfairness, of life home.

Take care good FUNsters, be safe in 2014.

What on earth are you talking about?

We have lived in the south of Spain for the past 10 years and have never seen any trouble or heard of any friends having any problems. Any anti social behaviour we have witnessed has been by visiting Brits in the tourist "hot spots" on the Costas Blanca/Brava and del Sol.
We, and friends feel far safer living in Spain than we would in certain parts of the UK these days, if newspaper reports have any credence.

Sweeping generalisations and throwaway statements, such as above, are a complete nonsense and have no basis in truth!

Bryan

Joking apart, Brian does have a point. Having tested a few supplies over the years I would never ever plug anything that mattered into a Moroccan electricity supply. Have seen just about every socket from a light bulb holder to two bare wires used on Moroccan campsite electrics. I have always relied on solar power out there, at least I know who wired that up.

Thanks all.

The general consensus seems to be that it's no different to anywhere else really.
The few that mentioned problems to me were a bit 'doom and gloom' to be fair and I think negativity attracts negativity - or to put it more simply you just get what you deserve!

I would think some people go and hate it, they dont like the culture / people or for any other number of reasons... There are people who I have met that turn their noses up and spout off about Benidorm !!, You cant please everyone...

In my motorhome lifetime I have learned that once a few people tell me "you must go to xxx". then it's worth a go.. Not been let down yet...

I would think some people go and hate it,.

I was talking to a cousin the other day. She who likes package holidays and cruises. "Morocco, oh it's shite."

She went pale when I said we'd be there a month.

She'd called in off a cruise ship, got a taxi to a souk and thought it the end of the world with "live animals being slaughtered in the street".

I did not waste my time enlightening her, not worth the effort.

Hooray our much looked forward to trip to Morocco has began, if only the rest of the journey is as good, travelled the 300 miles from home and all the way only seen light traffic one small hold up on M25 and sunshine and sunglasses most of the way down, now happily parked up at CCC site at Canterbury, think the crossing early Monday could be a bit choppey
Will look out for Fun Stickers on the way .

Hi Carol, If you think the 300miles you have already done was easy, wait till you get into France, you will have the N/routes all to your selves as the new law (All Commercial Vehicles over 7.5t must use the Auto routes to the nearest exit to their delivery point), it has been in force for about a month (its really quiet at my place:thumb:) the police will be Enforcing this in January, so Enjoy the N/Rs its shorter and cheaper and all the crazy HGVs will be on the A/Routes Bonne Route:france:

All Commercial Vehicles over 7.5t must use the Auto routes to the nearest exit to their delivery point

How on earth have the managed that ? Why haven't the HGVs been blockading, well, everything ?

Or maybe the drivers rather than owners like the idea.

Hi Carol et al- we'll be on our way next Thursday - currently loading up ready for New Year with elderly Mum in Lincoln before we depart.

Great news about the HGV's being "banished" to the autoroutes - we always use the N/D roads so looking forward to a nice quiet run down through France.

Terry

Yes that is quite right I died twice on three different sites but recovered following visits to Marjane for life giving liquid. :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

The Guarded Parking behind the Kotubia Mosque is now 100 dh, we took a taxi arranged by campsite to centre and stayed 4 hours cost 100 dh each way and must say glad we did traffic was horrendous.
We are having a great time and have so far visited, Martil, Chefchaouen, Volubis, Meknes, Azrou, Midelt, Merzouga (Erg Chebbi), Todra Gorge, Dades Gorge, Atlas Film Studio at Ouarzazate, Tizi-n-Ticha Pass, and now Marrakech.
