Well after a totaly crap week
Our white rat westy got a womb infection and had to be spayed
Then we have just got rabies test back and score is too low for moroco back into spain
So ether dog stays home
Or its portugal and spain for winter

To say elaine and I are well p##ssed off would be a understatement:Angry:

Ah you two, I'm so sorry for you both, what a shame!

Still look on the positive side, if it has to be Spain/Portugal, that's better than staying in Blighty, and you can just message some requests for shopping from your fellow funsters to drop back to you en-route if need be. No problemo!

Stay happy!

Pinkie.

I seem to remember somewhere that you can download a form to fill in for Morocco save doing it on the boat, can not find it, is it my imagination or could someone please let me know the link, I am going crosseyed looking for it.

Carol, yes there is a form for the vehicle online somewhere ( in French )
BUT they will compete this and print it at the ferry ticket office.. The personal immigration forms you can complete in your van the night before we leave.

Carlos office staff filled in our forms and we had no problem with them
Also stayed at Asilah first night by the medina wall ,Mohammed the guardian got our phone unblocked for us cost £ 5.00 .then we went to Morocc telecom and bought an internet sim for 20 dirham ...£1.70 that included 10 days with 400 meg per day and for another 100 dirham ... About £8.50 we got 4 weeks with 400 megs per day , so for 140 dirham we got 40 days with 400 meg a day.we can now use I pads on wifi with phone ,really pleased with it . Phone sim for calls was 20 dirham for 6 hrs of calls .telecom is along street from aire .Mohammed will show you .you need to go for sim yourself as you need your passport to get one ,we loved Asilah ...good for first stop...weather not to good been a bit rain heading south tomorrow.to El-Jadida.south of Casablanca..

Hello and welcome to MotorhomeFUN

Joining for Morocco. Some of us will be here: http://www.campinglabellavista.com/ on the 12/13th Jan and then moving to Algericas on the 14th.... Crossing on the 15th into Morocco.

You can just turn up and meet up where best suits you. Remember you need a Green card for your insurance and at least 3 months on your passports. Read through this thread to help you.

Some of us are presently in Benidorm...

PM Tonka or myself with your mobile, email and we will add you to the list. :thumb:

Ref the Morocco trip, as Carol has said, read through of this thread and you will get the gist of what is happening... No problems if you want to tag on, just need to be at Algerciras on the day of Tuesday 14th January or meet us at La Bellavista campsite just before...
Be aware you need a greencard from your insurance company OR can buy one at the port in Morocco....Bit late now for innoculations but they are not complusory and I think many travel without having them..

We will try for a discount based on numbers but it's not going to be huge... Maybe €10-20 max I guess.. One of the funsters crossed a few days ago and paid €200 which is about the standard price..

Hi,

Poppy and I have just had our innoculations, Hep A for her and Hep A AND Tetanus for me. If I have another Tetanus jab in 6-12 months it lasts 25 years apparently as opposed to single jab lasting a year.

Okay, a bit last minute, but they are done! (And free on the NHS - thought I'd have to pay so that was good!)

Sites in Morocco

Morning all.

Some more sites we've used on the way down. An update really. Most I think are 'known' by those who have been before. Prices are without electric.

Mohammedia. le Ocean Bleu. N34 44.428 W 007 19.463. 75 Dh/ night.
Ok site - better than the books would suggest albeit the washroom facilities are er.......hmmm. OK for larger vehicles despite what Vicarious say. We used this as a base for Cassablanca - return train fare 60 Dh each - taxi in (hailed from the road 5 Dh each) return evening (15Dh each)

El Jadida. Al Jedida. Camping Caravanning International. N 33 14.574 W 008 29.245. 55Dh/ night
Again ok site, same comment re washrooms.... Shop is open. Easy and pleasant walk to town and medina etc along the promenade at the bottom of the road.
We liked Al Jadida.

Souria Kedima Aire. N 32 02.361 W 009 20.516 (I think). 30Dh/night.
Follow the coast road south from Al Jadida.
Guardien parking on the prom, electric and water available and there is a refreshments tent manned by the friendly young Guardien called Coli. (Magnificent sunsets are free at the moment). Out of season holiday town and very quiet albeit about a 10 motorhomes when we got there. Beach excellent, calm area protected by breakwater and a larger one for the surfers. Too cold for the old though...!!!

Arab-Ida-Ou-Gourd near Essaouira N 31 26.116 W 009 39.480. 75Dh/night
About 20/30 minutes in land from Essaouira - good site - would use these washrooms. Comfortable and large wifi lounge and sunny walled patio area (it is very windy at the moment). Has an Excellent swimming pool albeit 'closed' in the winter.

HAVE FUN:Smile:

Hi everyone.
Whilst planning our winter Spain/Portugal trip came across this thread and as we had seen Tangier "across the water" last winter asked wife if she fancied it. Positive response so I've sorted the insurance etc and replanned the trip to coincide with what looks like the group crossing 15/16 Jan - if you'll permit us to join. Being Morocco "newbies" like the idea of having someone to "hold our hands" although having studied the thread it doesn't look too difficult.

We can only fit in 2/3 weeks but would like to visit Marrakesh and possibly Fez - is this feasible? Looking forward to meeting some of you there.

Terry

Just to say we are Helen & Sonya, Carol and Eddies daughters and thought it a good way to see what our wayward parents are up to.

Welcome aboard..... We only did 4 weeks last year and on this trip only have planned 5 and half weeks. BUT if your happy with your time scale and paying the ferry money I cant see an issue.. If you have read this thread then you should know where we are all "at" and you can just meet us down there.. I have listed my plans to leave UK on 6th Jan along with another 2 members, also known as the "overlanders". No issues if anyone else wants to tag on...
If you can PM or email your details: Christian names, contact phone number and email to either Mrmotohome (Andrew) or myself we will add you to the list and keep you informed closer the time.. :thumb:

Newbie question

Hello everyone

New to this site today and this is our first post. Quick question - we're off to Morocco in mid-Jan but we still haven't found breakdown cover. We're tried ADAC but no joy. Any help would be most appreciated!

"
Hi,

If you are still looking for ADAC breakdown cover, you can email this guy, he set mine up for me, speaks English and was really helpful, then you just phone up to pay for it by card over the phone.

Manfred.Weiss@nrh.adac.de

Hope that helps!

Morocco the Funsters are coming.

We will shortly try to negotiate a cheaper ‘group’ open return crossing from Algericas on the morning of 15th January 2014.

Previously, Carlos had requested the following info:

Full Names/Surname and Vehicle registration numbers and VIN number (on your V5). If you already have a ‘police number’ in your passport please include this.

Please PM Tonka or myself with the above details.

It will be useful to show your ‘MotorhomeFun’ badge\card to identify yourselves to others at Bella Vista or the in the car park when at Algericas.

Tagazhoute Beach being Redeveloped....All not lost

Merry Christmas One and All

It's been in the high 20s around Tagazhoute today and we've resigned ourselves to having to sit in the sun tomorrow and sweating over Christmas dinner overlooking the beach.......

Which actually is the purpose of the message. Andrew, Mr Motorhome, put out a feeler a while back suggesting a get together here in late January and Gwyntaxi raised with Sue and I the spectre of redevelopment of Taghazoute beach (for those of you who have the book it's also mentioned in the latest 'Campings du Maroc' guide). It would appear that much of the parking area all you old timers knew is now being graded and reshaped to make a holiday complex which looks like it could be as big if not bigger than Agadir's existing hotel area. The building site goes on for miles.

That said there remains a large parking area still available for 'beach' camping at the northern end of the beach - satnag co-ordinates for the entrance to the site are N 30deg 32.362min - W009deg 41.869min. Cost is 20 Dh/night. Currently I'd estimate there are about 300 motorhomes here and room to easily double that albeit most will not be able to park 'overlooking' the beach. Toilet emptying is apparently available at the beach toilets (but haven't checked it yet), water is being delivered as I write this note in a tanker truck and there are a great many mobile artisans and travelling salesmen constantly asking to provide their services and wares. (Sue's just bought strawberries.....) Oh and Agadir Marjane still sells a full assortment of beverages for the travelling connoisseur. Still not a bad spot for a gathering then.:party2::wine::drink::beer::clap:

Might even try a bit of surf tomorrow:helptitanic:.......seeing as it's Christmas Day!

Have Fun:Smile:

Barry and Sue

MHF LRDG:Doh:

Woops, I've just bought wheel covers and sue doesn't think I haggled enough.... Think I'd better go indoors whilst I'm still solvent....

Thanks for the info. We're currently at Essaouira for Christmas but heading to Taghazoute for New Year. There are 6 vans of us, about half of which are Fun members. badges are in the window so if you do see us, come and say hello.

We can confirm Marjane supermarkets are still selling the hard stuff (at a price) despite reports to the contrary. For anyone coming to Morocco, stock up before you come and secrete said supplies out of obvious view and you should be ok. It helps if you decant spirits into empty cordial bottles. Less weight, less obvious.

Took some drinks to a restaurant in Midelt, on the way down and someone tipped off the police we were drinking. Owner got a tongue lashing but was left at that. They're more easy-going in the east, on the edge of the Sahara and in the west by the coast.

The east is at a higher altitude (plateau as high as Ben Nevis in parts!) so is warm by day and co..old by night, but well worth a visit. Tamtatouchte above the Todra Gorge is at 1749m. The gorge is passable with an 8/9metre van (roadworks 2/3 way up).

The road from Ouarzazate to Marrakech is stupendous for the scenery over the High Atlas mountains.

Have Fun when the rest of you get here. :thumb:
