I wanted to ask anyone who has crossed via Tangier Med before where the nearest cash machine / ATM is? Am I right in saying there is an ATM in the terminal building or is there one elsewhere in the port or other money changing facilities?

When we went in 2012 we sailed into Ceuta and found a cash machine in Fnideq to withdraw our dirhams using our Halifax Clairty card.

Got a letter in the post on New Years eve from Carlos wishing my happy new year - nice touch!

Not sure on ATM's but the main building is new and seemed to have everything else there. I was more focused on finding the police office (ps. it's upstairs)...
There were 2 cash changing vendors on the car park in "portacabins" at Tangier med after you clear customs...:thumb:

Can we just land at bella vista or to we have to pre book .. Sorry very limited internet at mo hoping to be there earlier than planned if the snow lets us leave val thorens ;0)

Thanks Tonka.

Apparently there are cash machines in the Terminal building. Just found this map which seems to answer my own question :

When we went through the " frontier " last week ,we were sent on a route well away from the terminal building , so we used the cash cabins just after the police / customs barrier and used GB Pounds cash 13.16D / £1 , same in the cambio in Asilah , they like GB notes ,

maroc telecom in Asilah N 35.470059 W 6.029292 about 100mt from the beach parking at the North end of the promenade ,
Dongle 200d for 1month unlimited complete
13kg gas 130d complete

Remember to STOP at all Police check points and wait untill you are waved through ,

welcome to morocco .....

Hi guys,

Gave up trying to find the right LIDL - the only one I found didn't have any office attached, so just went straight to the port, got a 1 hour ferry from Algeciras to Tangier, but suspect it was Ceuta as I had to drive for an hour to get to Tangier. It cost euros 180 return for 1 ad, 1 child and the dog.

We drove, after 2 hours messing about at customs...........expected, but a pain, insurance office for my temporary insurance was closed for the night but they gave me insurance from 0000hrs for the next day, and I chanced the drive to Assilah, the guys told me it was fine, and frankly having driven from Scotland, I wasn't going to have an accident.

Arrived at 10pmish and paid 40dirham for beach camping. Finally had a great lie-in after 6 days of travelling from Dundee!!! Got up late at 1pm and had a look round and some food before leaving for Moulay Bousselham. Nice easy drive!

Finally got WIFI here, after days of no communication, can't wait to have a shower and wash clothes in the morning. The water only seems to get lukewarm on the van and we can't shower in it. The cold kitchen tap has strangely stopped working and only the basin/shower tap works. All silly teething problems.

We are loving Morocco, as I knew we would. Only got insurance for one month at 90 euros, I didn't want to pay more than that.

All great so far!

Suggy, thanks on the updates... Catch you soon I guess...

Pinkie... Glad you made it safe and started the adventure, locate a Moroc Telecom shop and you can get an internet dongle from there for use on a laptop....Unless you have already done that to make your post... !

Our van occasionally has same problem

Should be a drain off tap under sink. With water tap on, open the drain off tap and hopefully in a few seconds water will begin to flow. Regarding lukewarm water........ does your system allow setting of water temperature and if so has it been accidentally shifted ?

Don't forget to shut off cold water drain off tap when finished.

Have fun

Regards, Bryan

Thanks Bryan, will have a go with that. Just doing some washing at the moment and psyching myself up for the emptying of cassette!!! Want to get moving again today, weather in Moulay a bit drizzley. I need some heat. Tonka, got dongles yesterday and just getting laptops charged in a café at the campsite.

For some reason none of the electric plugs on the van work. Can't work out why, of course they are german points, but we bought the adaptors and none of the sockets work. I thought there might be a switch somewhere, but can't find anything that might switch them on, so can't understand it - anyone got any ideas?

Apart from that all good! We will get there, or get somewhere...........:Rofl1:

There should be a 'trip' switch somewhere, checked this is up? Someone with better knowledge of your van and electrics will be along soon....

Almost ready for the off!

Just been to Lidl to do the last minute food shopping for our trip.
Then tomorrow morning we are off!
First stop is Lincoln to have some very minor warranty work done (just silly trim stuff). Don't know where we will stop Monday night but Tuesday we will stop at the port in Portsmouth ready for the ferry to Bilbao on wednesday.
I hope the sea has calmed down a bit by then but we have bought sea sickness tablets for the first time just in case.
Hopefully an uneventful run down through Spain with a night or maybe two at Zahora before meeting up with the gang at Algeciras on 14th.
We are getting excited now and can't wait to feel some sun on our old bones (we are officially old now as both in our sixties). I went to pick up a prescription this morning and was told I no longer have to pay because of my age. Result!

Looking SO forward to all your adventures in Morocco Funster's. IT WAS A DAILY FIX FOR US THREE last year :thumb:

1 sleep to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Busy day with final packing to be done, Irene is ahead of me and already has her mountain of clothes in the van..
I will get my 3 pairs of socks and pants out later, "wash, wear and spare" :Rofl1:

:Rofl1: a women after my own heart - get your stuff in early and what space is left is his! Works every time in our van.

Hope you have a great time and looking forward to reading all about it.

Hello Moroccan Funsters.....Salaam Alaikum

There seems to bit of confusion regarding Lidl and Carlos’s office. The small office next to Lidl is occasionally closed but the main office is nearby. See the ‘poster’ on this thread.

Last year you were able to overnight in front of Lidl which we have been informed is no longer possible. They now have a ‘designated’ overnight car park area (next to the main road) a few hundred yards further up from Lidl, so you can park and shop and then move your van to the overnight area.

Co ordinates:

36.1819 -5.439701 - Lidl day time parking – apparently the police move you on when it closes.
36.185299,-5.437879 - Overnight Parking (see poster\flyer on this thread)

Next to Lidl is a Macdonalds and opposite this parking area is a large Carrefour.

If you are meeting at La Bella Vista and are still unsure Tonka or I will advise you.

Setting off for the tunnel within the next hour due to rising water in the River Trent. :helptitanic:

Hope to stay somewhere in Kent tonight, Cite Europe tomorrow night - way to goooooooooo:Cool:

Made it to Lincoln and all parked up ready to visit dealer tomorrow for warranty work.
Lots of Mhs on road many going north (poor buggers).
Spent quite a while in convoy with a Concorde Carver south of Wetherby - our cruise controls were obviously set to almost exactly the same speeds.
Prob stay here again tomorrow and then head for Portsmouth.

la bella vista

Hi. We are working our way down, just past mazarron now, on beach parking, just bumped into time traveller on a walk this morning!
A couple of questions for your help please.
Is the bella vista site in Manilva?
Do you have the daily rate?
I don't have an up to date acsi card - is that a problem?
See you around 13th.

It is on the coast road N340 just south of Estapona...

It's not an ACSI site, last year on the travels down we got a rate of €18....
However the site has become popular and fee's for 2014 have shot up.. We have a price of €22.50 and that's with a discount... BUT Andrew and myself are working hard to try and get that down.. It's not compulsory to stay.. We are doing it so we can arrange the March meet face to face. There are some ASCI sites further up the coast if you want to keep costs down.
