Have just been discussing with her good self the possibilities of going out to Morocco in the new year. If all goes well with the hospital in January, then we will be out there end of the month. I need to speak with Smudger and see what he fancies doing first though. Bring it all on you funsters :thumb:

There is only one problem. The fat boy is so dug in here, it will take a D8 to dig him out now :Rofl1:

Tonka,

Just wanted to say, we are now definitely on this trip. Got my registration docs on 3rd application (after threatening taking it to my mp).

Now have to start planning it!

I am keeping up with events, I will update my list when I get home.
luckily for me the bar below my apartment has installed wifi here in Benidorm and I am getting a nice strong free signal. AND. Before any of the "whingers" come on to lecture about "stealing" wifi... I spend cash in the bar and the guy know me...:Tongue1:

Have you got the electrics sorted and a really good service ?

Electrics to be done this week, I still owe the guy £10 actually!

And then a few test drives.

Re. costing - anyone got a rough guide for 4-6 weeks trip. Apart from any unexpected expenditure would £3k be a good estimate, or do I need to factor in more?

Thanks.

We have a 3k budget for 90 days
With a 1 k back up if that runs out I am in bother with elaine:thumb:

WOW - that's a bargain - I knew this motorhoming was a great idea!

Can't wait.

If you mean Morocco 4-6 weeks, I would be surprised if it cost you more than around £1000 figure - including diesel.

Last year our Morocco adventure cost £685 in total - not including provisions bought in Spain. For Europe - look into obtaing a Euro Caxton Card which you can top-up if needed.

Remember to take a seperate wallet with little money in it to show the officer for your cash on demand fines :Eeek: :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

Maybe see you in Morocco :thumb:

That's helpful - thanks. After lots of European travelling I've got sick of being charged to take out money everywhere, so applied for that. Thanks again. :thumb:

Hi Kath, not sure about Cash Passport - they are probably very similar however I would recommend Caxton Card especially if you have an iphone - their 'app' is very handy - you can top-up, see your transactions, balance with wifi - its nearly instant. We therefore buy euros in seconds when the exchange is good. :thumb:

A word of advice. Although the Caxton Euro card is very good in Europe, it is useless in Morocco. You will need the Caxton World traveller card for Morocco.

Cash Question

I am going over to Morocco Mid Dec to Mid Jan is the exchange ratye better with Carlo's and the Port than when travelling around? I am taking Euros cash?

Yes - we withdraw Euros in Spain and exchange these in Morocco (good exchange rate for cash) - holes in the wall if we needed extra which we did because someone started buying Jalabas....and someone else ran out of beers. lol

It's called caxton fx - look on itunes app store - its free. You do need wifi and it does not work after certain hours. Still take a debit card for Morocco which we use at the banks only.

Carol sends kisses.

Update found this link : HERE to download the app...

I CAN DO THREE MONTHS FOR £3K AND I'M A WELSHMAN,I'M SURE A SCOTTISH PERSON SHOULD BE ABLE TO MANAGE THAT EASILY,NO OFFENCE,
REALLY,BUT I DON'T USE CAMPSITES,PREFER BEACHES/GUARDIANS ETC,
AND COULD DO IT FOR LESS IF I TRIED.:thumb::thumb::Eek!:

Hello Moroccan travellers!

As you are all aware there are various groups travelling around Morocco during January 2014. I have been wondering so just testing the water at the moment, do you think we should consider meeting up at for example Tagazhout Beach (Wild Camping) on or around 22/23rd January 2014 - BYOFandD .:

Hi Andrew

We[STRIKE] could probably be[/STRIKE] ARE persuaded that this is a good idea !!!

However.....:Doh::Blush:

We have some friends flying in to Agadir that week and staying at a 'HOTEL' - its a birthday celebration on 20th (so definitely not then - and we will want to spend some time with them) - the week ending Sunday 19th Jan or after Monday 27th Jan would suit us better......... but apart from 20th/21st we can probably squeeze it into our diary !!!!

Look forward to seeing you all

We changed cash at the port on arrival, then in a few change shops in towns as we travelled around.. Went inside a bank on 1 occassion. Rate was much the same everywhere,,, No hassles...

Near the end we were all swopping monies with each other and doing our own change shop, so that no one had to much left over:thumb:
When you are on route back and last day, allow for fuel at last petrol station (approx25km from port) and little else. You can get a few snacks at the fuel station and a little cafe inside the port,, We used our last Dirhams there and stocked up on baguettes and cans of coke..
The ferry accepts them but gives an horrendous exchange rate and only takes notes....

Carlos I think does a little money changing but unsure on rates, however I would imagine not as good as over in Morocco.
