taghazout open sewer is fine. it did not reach the top of my wellies last year! perhaps we may need waders this year to empty the loo or send the wife!:thumb:

Given the state of the "open sewer" waste disposal at Taghazout Beach "foolhardy" is appropriate. No place for bravado........ well, you did ask

Regards, Bryan

I have to admit on my one and only visit to it.... It has been the only "toilet / dump" facility that made me heave.....
And they recon someone went in to "dig it out" !!!! Yes better have them jabs as it could be that bloke selling you some fish next time..

Still all part of the adventure,

Having my last injection next week

Still need yellow fever, but will get that afterwards otherwise it wont last long enough for our big trip to south america etc. It also cost money.

Hep A is a good one to have, because of water bourne problems.

Heb B is more if you are in contact with blood, sex etc, so if youre dating vampires, its wise to have it. ( I have had it that has taken in the following first, second injection a week later, then third injection 4th week).

This is an excellent guide for countries innoculations

We use Skype - there is a very good 3G signal in most of Morocco. Buy £10 credit (still had £4 on our return) and you can then also telephone landlines, mobiles, send video messages etc. :thumb: You can also have skype (same account) on your mobile phone.

Thank you Andrew, did you have to buy a special phone,

We have our normal iphone (roaming switched off) and a mifi, once the mifi is on everything is via the internet. Suggy and I were using 'facetime' to each other whilst we were still both in Morocco via our laptops. I also made numerous business calls to UK landlines from the laptop and from the iphone. Tonka is the expert regarding setting up tablets  and swapped his tescos phone for a jalaba - the gentleman will be looking for him on our return. :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

Yes, Steve will wake up from his afternoon sleep soon - he used his ipad a lot while we were in Morocco and I am sure will advise you regarding your ipad questions. x

It depends on whether the IPad is 3G (has a sim card slot) or WIFI only. You could of course connect to the internet by using a Maroc Sim card in an unlocked MIFI if you have one and this will work on either type of Ipad.

Do you know if you can buy mobile phones in morocco and get the SIM card there to go with them, I like Ed and I to carry our phones with us, just in case we get separated in a souk or somewhere need to have a phone that works there.

How did he know I was napping ??? :Eeek:

Yes.. I took a very cheap unlocked phone but never used it... Swopped with a local who is maybe still looking for me as he later said it was a bad deal for him. But only after he eat all the chocolates..

I took an unlocked Mifi like this..
Link Removed

An internet only sim for unlimited 1 month access was 200dh / €16 /£14.. Then connected my ipad and i phone to this.. Had excelent results almost everywhere. Used Skype to make calls. Had video contact with the grandkids almost everyday... As the mifi is small and re-chargable it can be put in your pocket and taken out with you to still allow wifi access while walking about..
As stated you dont need a 3G ipad / tablet. Just wifi..
Laptops can also be connected to the mifi. Plus as we did you can share with others who are parked nearby.

If you do want a phone, look on ebay for sim free phones.. Seen them from £6.99 upwards, basic but useable. Or watch out for deals online..
You may also have an old phone lying about or could get your existing phone unlocked..

In reply to Carol.. Better and cheaper to buy here....

This is a good read and where I got a lot of inital info from.. Adam and Sophie and members on here and may even be over in Morocco when we are there..

Hi Malcolm.
Dodgy bearing, two worn gears and also shaft problem or so I am told.... know absolutely nothing about such stuff. You are quite right about spares not being available or supported by, in our case, FIAT. Our mechanic searched through some "central agency" in an attempt to source a second hand box but as you say it might be no better than what we have, and in any case none seem to be around.
Two options open to us, exchange box or source new parts from UK with the time delay that goes with that (cannot help but think of Mike/Gwen and a 20 day wait). Have told mechanic today to order exchange box........ :tears::tears::tears:...no idea how long that will take.
Going to bank tomorrow for a mortgage !!!

Regards, Bryan & Anna

I reckon that must be the best if not the only option.

Good luck with it see you soon

Malcolm and Cathryn

I know it was not all H&S gold stars but I don't really think it was any worse than some places back home. I use a fair number of CLs and one or two of them have left much to be desired. One in particular had a cess pit accessed through an open manhole with a bottomless dustbin stuck in it and an ill fitting dustbin lid sitting on top. Removal of said lid revealled even the bin above ground was full of the really nasty :Eeek: As with many small places the visitor numbers were not great and the nasty had been there for quite a while. I will spare you the description of the physical appearance of the lumpy bumpy and the gut churning stench but we did not stay for another night.
I will be staying at Taghazoute for a lot longer than that - no problem :thumb:

Tagazout is not a campsite as such, so why would anyone think they would have European facilities. The locals have dug holes in the ground to dump waste products in to stop many from dumping on the ground. Of course its not very nice smelling....its s**t :Eeek:. If there were no holes in the ground I know full well were the cassettes would be emptied.

En route again - Into Spain

At Hendaye the Aire we had headed for was closed so we drove back a short distance to a campsite we had passed. It turned out to be an ACSI CC site. Larouleta was clean and the showers were hot if somewhat unusual in that they were not gender specific. Wifi was good but then we were pitched up close to reception.

Our first stop in Spain was at La Joyosa on motorway services. Spanish services are not at the top of my list of places to stay but it was free. The motorhome bays were wide enough for us to have sat outside if the wind had not been strong enough to lift us off the ground and there was EHU for each van. Camperstop Europe guide says there is a 3euro charge but when I went to the bar/restaurant and asked about electricity the barman mimed how to connect and when I asked 'how much?' he just laughed and shook his head. I had a very reasonably priced coffee and he got a tip.

We both went back for a couple of drinks later and accessed the fairly fast and free WIFI.

In the morning we got on line again with another coffee before leaving.

Now I don't want to make this place sound better than it is. It is used by many trucks and we were just on edge of the truck parking area. It was noisy until midnight and it started again as the early guys got underway at 6. For us it was worth it.

From there we had intended to make for Vinaross on the Med but the weather forecast for anything north of Valencia was horrible with extremely strong wind. We drove south/east from Zaragoza and arrived in Oliva by teatime. We have friends who use this site and others who live in the town. We use Kiko park, another ACSI CC site as it is a reasonable walk or cycle ride into the town.

So far we have used the washing machine five times, including floor mats, and the bedding is still to do tomorrow.

Tonight we made it into town and after a two hour wait managed to get a SIM for the mifi.

Tomorrow it is market day so back into town again.

And it is all taking us closer to Morocco :thumb:

Carol have sent you a pm regarding the mifi unlock...

Had mine unlocked today with an advance setting also being changed from 3G to preferred 3G all worked fine then , they also added the settings for Marco Telcom in readiness for me

Not sure if this is the norm so thought I would mention it on here in case anyone else has probs ..... hope this helps :thumb:

Wahoo we had our jabs this afternoon, Hep B , Tetanus and oral Typhoid so rock on Moroc:thumb::thumb:

We were also recommended to have a good Deet insect protection

Seems we were lucky to had the oral Typhoid each as there are now only 2 doses remaining at our travel clinic :Eek!::Eek!:
They have been trying to source more of both types but none are available so far

Carol-moroccan adaptor

HI there.
sorry about not getting back to you sooner, thing is, i am absolutely USELESS at computing, and even WORSE when it comes to navigating my way around
motorhome funs' website,so each time I come on here I find a new page or
means of replying to someone, and vice versa,so folks must think me dead
ignorant, anyway to get back to your earlier query,no you dont need an adaptor
to connect a Moroccan bottle to your gas system as long as you've got the bulkhead mounted 30 mbar regulator which has been fitted to all vans since about 2004,if not and you still have the old style regulator which fits straight to the gas bottle,no problem when you buy a Moroccan cylinder you buy a reg
-ulator the same time the whole lot, bottle & regulator will only cost you £15.
with a 13kg exchange costing £3.40 at a time it's no problem.hope this answer
s your query, and yes we are booked on tunnel as usual for 2.1.14.and normall
-y spend that night (2.1.)on the aire at Calais before stocking up with various
liquids in cartorns in Auchan the following morn then heading south ASAP.may
see you over there.:Smile::Wink::thumb::RollEyes:
