Your Beer of the week

Not had either the poacher nor the stout Jock. The golden champion is to my liking though, and drink it fairly regularly.🍺👍
I forgot to mention Golden Glory, which is another favourite of Badger Beers for me. I am sure it has been re labelled. It says it's a new beer, but it has been brought back by popular demand apparently.

A proper man’s beer that one..well done Jock. 🍺😎😜💪
Knowing your taste for strong ales Steve, this would be right up your street, ie, up there with Broadside. (y)

Cheers. :drink:

Jock. :)

Yep, I was right.
This is the labelling I always looked out for previously. I didn't realise they had withdrawn it. :(

Sorry Steve, I was referring to King Goblin as being up there with the Broadside, and not the Golden Glory which you might find a bit tame. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Oh right, sorry Jock, I misunderstood you. I’m of the opinion, if a beer tastes good, then it’s worth buying, regardless of strength. I’ve had beers around 3.5 & 3.8 that have had a beautiful taste. Must mention here though that Old Crafty Hen & Mcewens Champion are also firm favourites of mine.

looks very pale for a Brown Ale
Thats probably why it was more like pish, than beer Joe. 😂

A very flavoursome hoppy blond ale brewed over Peterborough way is, Oakham Ales JHB @ 3.6%, and very popular. I prefer the Bishop's Farewell which is less hoppy and slightly stronger at 4.2%.
They used to do a brew called Cold Turkey @6.7%, but it was withdrawn after the brewery got their knuckles rapped by HMRC, for not declaring a spirit they had added at some stage of the brewing process. 😲

Where we live 10 x miles further north, we have a local brewery called Hopshackle Ales, which are all to hoppy for me excepting their Resination, again at around 7%, which I would sometimes mix with a half pint of a low volume bitter, which gave me a lovely flavoured pint at around 5%. 😀
At 7%, it should have been called "Resignation". 😂

Love Oakham beers. ❤️ Unlike you Jock, I am partial to very hoppy beers. I wouldn’t mind trying that ‘Resignation’ 😆😆

Visited Beers of Europe today in Kings Lynn, great selection from local beers to plenty of options from around the globe. They also have a new taproom and looks like they might be making a motorhome stopover available.

Drinking Timothy Taylor landlords tonights but did get a few Kiwi tastes from home whilst I was there.

Sounds a bit like J.Wadsworth's in St Ives, but they tend to do spirits, especially whisky . 😀

Good choice with landlord. I’m looking at the brewery across the valley right now. Can’t make much out because it’s dark. I’m not a fan of the landlord dark really. It’s just Ram Tam renamed.

Whilst having had TT Landlord many times Glenn, I've not seen nor had a dark ale from the brewery before. Is it a rich malty flavour?

Cheers. :drink:

I recently saw a none Landord Timothy Tailor ale but it wasn’t dark 🤔
But we just need to pay more attention 🤪

Edit: and here’s a reference to what Glen meant about Ram Tam: https://www.brewersjournal.info/timothy-taylors-rename-ram-tam/

Aye it is a richer maltier flavour but they caramelise the sugar to create the much darker colour and malt flavour. It’s generally a winter beer.
I’m guessing the reasoning behind the rename is that outside Yorkshire, landlord is more widely known than Ramtam.

That sounds right up my street Glenn. In fact, I am slavering all over the place just thinking about a pint of it. :Eeek: ................

Well chaps, I bought 3 x Belgian/French type beers from Aldi, when doing the shopping last week, (shopper's perk I call it ;) ).
I was really looking forward to this one...............

What a disappointment! :whatthe: It was quite tasteless, (and no, I've not got Covid. ), lost it's head almost immediately, and had a sort of musty aftertaste to it. I've only had 1 x small glassful, and am tempted to chuck the rest down the blooming sink................or try it with a large dash of lemonade first.
I just hope the other two Belgian beers I bought are an improvement on this one. :(

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)

Hard for me to choose, love dark ales many mentioned above but attached is inside of my shed with all sides adorned with loving drunk all different real ales, the right hand corner being dark ales. Ha.... I've run out of room for more.

Following on from that post, I tried the other two bottles, the first of which was this one.........

20220103_152141.jpg

It was quite pleasant, and similar to Leffe Blonde, but only about half the flavour. :(

Next up was this one.........

20220105_161258.jpg

I'm not sure what to say as it wasn't unpleasant, but it was very much non descript for me. :(

Out of the three bottles, which one would I recommend, and would endeavour to sample again? I'm sorry to say, none of them. :(

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)

First beer(lager) today for 8 days.
I know most beers on here are "beers" but one of my favourite lagers is from Budweis.
Many years ago spent hours in "Meat Market" in Budweis (8 people +food 10 beers each...£60-70).A pint now about £1...inflation eh!!!!
