Your Beer of the week

I also have a Strong Dark Ale from Hobgoblin I've not had before, but it's only 5.2% ABV.
Oh! That’s intriguing. I wonder what beer you’ll be drinking. 🤪🤔
KING GOBLIN 6.6% ABV is the extra strong Ale.
DICEMAN – 5% ABV is the Wychwood stout. That’s quite new and I’ve not tried it yet.
Hobgoblin Ruby 4.5% is their traditional ale that they’ve made for years.
Then there’s a Gold & an IPA.

Wait, maybe a link to their beers is easier: https://hobgoblinbeer.co.uk/beer
I’ve been to Witney to go on their brewery tour. :drunk:
A good time was had by all.
One odd thing is the taproom has no “local” beers. All the beer made in Witney gets transported to the parent Marston brewery for kegging & bottling, etc. 😳🤔
So beer in the taproom has been to and from Burton already. 👀

At the time I posted I couldn't remember the name of the brew. I was in the cab of a 44 Tonner, on my phone, out in the sticks somewhere, with a pi$$ a poor data signal, and not able to check the internet..........................so less of the sarcasm please Kevin. :(

I've just been out to the house garage to check the bottle out, and it is King Goblin, at 6.6% Abv, not the 5.2% I originally thought, but hey, lets not let a minor mistake get in the way of things, eh? :xdoh:

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)

Oh in that case Jock we’ve had it. Nice drop too. Do like most of the Hobgoblin beers but, not to keen on the ruby🍺🍺🍺🍺

I am rather partial to the Ruby Steve, but you have to be careful when buying it, as it comes in two strengths, ie, 5.2% in bottles, and 4.5% in cans. If buying in bulk, ie, at Calais, I buy slabs of cans to help keep the weight down. I also find my Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale are stronger when buying from Calais, but only slightly, ie, 5.2% as opposed to the 5% here in the UK.

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :xsmile:

Oh no! Sorry. No sarcasm meant. Just intrigue 👍🏻 I expected you may even say it was one of those beers i mentioned but at a different ABV due to different packaging 🤷‍♂️

My special Xmas beers are in. I’ve a mini keg of WildBeer’s Millionaire Milk Stout. To get free P&P I also got a can of the limited release Imperial Stout:

<Broken link removed>
That’ll be interesting at 11% but it’s only 330ml 🤪

I don't know if my taste buds are shot, or what, but I am finding this Alniwick Stout a bit tasteless. :(

I am am still struck on Doom Bar in 500ml Bottles (cases of 6), I love one as I start cooking the dinner, and another one during & after the dinner, wife has to put up with that wine stuff, but hey ho eh?:xwink:Doom Bar is only 4.3abv, so I need a few.
She did make the mistake recently of buying me a case of canned Doom Bar, "didn't realise they were cans, sorry love" Well, they were thin & tasteless compared with the bottles, waste of money, it took a while to get shot of them, but managed it somehow.:xThumb:

I did like The Hobgoblin Amber Ale, for a while, in Bottles & Cans, but I went off them big time as they had such a strong Grapefruit Sour aftertaste. Its always a bit of a gamble these days for me to try some of these newish IPA beers, that say they use hops imported from the US, to give a citrus note to them, as they can be well over the top.
I will stick to Tribute, Ghost Ship, Golden Ale, Proper Job, Wainwrights, and a few others, especially when on offer.
Cant wait to be away in the van, staying somewhere with local pub, serving some nice conditioned cask ales, just leave me there, come back later to lead me back to the van.:xThumb:
Cheers all.

Please don’t shoot me but has anyone tried the canned Guinness 0.0 alcohol free stuff.

I used to be a beer monster in my younger days regularly drinking 10 to16 pints and still love a pint of smooth but this I absolutely love.

Drove home yesterday after christmas dinner from our daughters, 5 pints down and totally legal

love it

Al 👍👍

Agreed. :xThumb:

Not yet Al, but happy to try anything once. :xwink:

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)
Seriously Jock

I like guinness but love this stuff, it’s really smooth and no burnt taste you sometimes get with the proper stuff in england

The problem is getting hold of it though so as soon as Val see’s any it’s in the basket 😉👍

Polished off the Millionaire Milk Stout (with help from Bruv-in-law  ). Now on the Wildebeest Imperial Stout.
It’s OK but harsher/sharper than the lovely smooth Millionaire so just a one off for me.

It is. I discovered it at as a guest beer at another brewery’s taproom a couple of years ago. My 1st of that beer style. Also good is that similar style Delphic Brewing beer I posted earlier.

Not had either the poacher nor the stout Jock. The golden champion is to my liking though, and drink it fairly regularly.🍺👍
