Your Beer of the week

Dont tell him Desperados is brewed in Croatia by Heineken ;-)
hi . bills not bothered where is brewed as long as he can get his hands on some . have you tried this desperados red yourself nothing like the standard one we have only seen it in France bill said its like drinking pop for adults

Which is why having tried 1 x Desperados, I never felt inclined to try another. 🤮
Sorry 599 Bill. It's definitely not my tipple. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. ;)
I think it’s a lager, in which case it’s not for me either.
Tonight’s beers are Shipyard IPA and Proper Job.
Can’t decide which I like most so will probably need to have another of each to try to decide.
Cheers 🍺🍺.

Which is the one I was referring to, but only one of them.

Glenn, whilst I don't mind a pint of Proper Job, I do prefer the Tribute from the same brewery. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Yeah, I get that but proper job was four for six quid. Tribute, not on the same offer. 🍺.

No only the original if he likes desperados it used to by brewed at fischers brewery in france before the move and their range of beers are also quite good.

new from my nearest brewery, a peach & plum sour ale. Not my think but I did just buy one can as an experiment. The beer is strongly influenced by the ingredients mentioned esp. sour 🤪

Oh! Beer by Delphic Brewery Co.
Beer is “Please Stop It’s Not That Kind of Hat”

My usual beer by Delphic is a traditional ale called “Level Crossing”

The fruit in this makes it more like a cider type drink - and with mrskevenh having s’more than one swig of it confirms that 1min review. She’s had more than one swig. 👀🤔

im on Proper Job from St. Austell brewery
mrskevenh is on Thatchers Haize cider

The Proper Job is OK. Il have more. 😵
The other beer is Doom Bar. For me, that’s an OK beer but if there’s no other choices.
A bit like having a Guinness if there’s no draft ale 😳
Proper Job is my daily tipple. It is 5.5 in the bottle but the draught version is 4.5.
We had a rep from St Austel brewery doing a tasting session at our local pub in Devon.
He explained that 5.5 was deemed too strong to be served in a pub as a session beer, hence 4.5.
On the other hand, 5.5 was ok in a bottle for getting bladdered at home.
Consequently, I find the bottled version to have a tad more flavour.

My other new Delphic Brewery Co. beer is more my “thing”: “I See Bread People” a gingerbread milk stout. Mrskevenh didn’t like it so that meant it had a beer taste. A good milk stout.

(2 cans as the label is in two distinct sides. There’ll be a gap between their drinking that’ll mean the spare is returned to the beer cupboard)

To complete my trio of Delphic Brewing ales, here’s their bread n butter year round ale: Level Crossing:

Decent goto session ale - if I’ve not taken the ez West Berks Brewery* route, this is my mini keg bbq ale.
(*- WBB Shareholder discount hard ignore)

That sounds great, I looked it up online but I think it’s only available locally to the brewery.

You can pick up at the brewery.
Or have them deliver if within 15mile
Or use Hermes for £8.99 (y)
I just tried a made up Leeds address to get that Hermes option :)

The Hop Foundry (Aldi), Peeling Good, England

5.2% black in colour with a nice brown head, it had an orange aroma and the taste was like a Terry's Chocolate Orange in stout. not good at all, although some may like it, I didn't.

That doesn’t sound like it would be up my street Ralph but, I would be willing to give it a go. Never say never aye😉

I don't really like beer much but i do love a sour beer and also wheat/white beer. I'm a cider drinker so sour rather than bitter is my thing.

I'm with you Steve, but hoping that I'd be pleasantly surprised. ;)

BTW, I was on the Theakstones Old Peculier at £1.99 a pint today............aided by a CAMRA voucher for a further 50p off, making it £1.49 a pint. 😂😂😂

Cheers,

Jock. ;)

I was at Delphic Brewing Saturday and I fed back my tasting notes. Mostly that I didn’t like it but mrskevenh did - and she’s a cider drinker. I meant to mention that in my post  thanks for the reminder. 😆
They’d heard that before.
I left with a six pack of the gingerbread milk stout. Lovely. 😜

Blimey Jock, that’s for nothing😲 We love a drop of TOP, in fact, it’s my wife’s favourite tipple. Can I ask where? Sounds like it was Wetherspoon?

Adnams Broadside & Abbot Reserve night tonight. Not had it for a while but, how good is Abbot Reserve..WOW 😎💪😋
I have a few bottles of the above in the house garage Steve as well as Theakstons OP. The three of them have to be up there in the UK's Top 10 ales. I also have a Strong Dark Ale from Hobgoblin I've not had before, but it's only 5.2% ABV.

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)

I would agree with that Jock👍 We have all three here too, in our beer locker. Don’t recall the Hobgoblin one, although now you have made me aware of it, I shall look out for it. nice strength too😋👍
