Would you smoke a spliff before driving your Motorhome ??

I enjoy a spliff occasionally......I also enjoy the occasional beer, glass of wine, tot of rum but the spliff makes me a criminal even though I have no contact with criminal dealers.
So growing your own?

Mr Khan can decriminalise every illegal drug he can think of, but it does not make one iota of difference to the law’s passed by Parliament, these are the laws that the Police and courts work to, not what some tinpot city mayor decides he wants to decriminalise

If you legalise it you get to control quality,
Bingo.

Some off the stuff that people are passing off as skunk these days is just pure dangerous for peoples mental health. Always trying to find ways of making it more potent, stuff you definitely wouldn't drive on. That's not what cannabis is about. They aren't getting stoned, they are just getting out of it.

I don't have kids but when the legal highs were really taking off I remember thinking god it's got so bad that I'd be warning them to stick to the proper coke rather than ingest those plant chemicals people were selling over the counter.

On a side note it's good too see that magic mushrooms are finally getting the OK to be studied to see the medicinal qualities. I firmly believe that MDMA should be seriously looked in to for helping people with severe depression/anxiety.

I may have the occasional glass of wine with a meal but that’s all and why because I enjoy a glass very occasionally
so ok for me to have an occasional line or pill because i enjoy it?

How come some people on MHF are calling for people who won't get a covid vaccine to be under virtual house arrest, yet at the same time there are people on MHF being happy to state they take, or have taken, mind altering, no safety tests, illegal drugs ?

Don't say it's because getting covid can affect other people, because a drugged up driver in a HGV going down the motorway could certainly affect the lives of a lot of other people !

My biggest gripe as a non drug user is the stench that this stuff gives off, it stinks the whole area out. Last time I went through Edinburgh station every platform stank of the rubbish. Why do these addicts have to share their addiction with all and sundry. Let addicts smoke the rubbish but do it in a sealed box.

And all those people died when drugs were illegal!
Cannabis does not necessarily lead to addiction and hard drugs, some people would, just as some become alcoholics.
Should responsible drug users be penalised because a few cannot control their needs?
I have smoked and grown weed on and off for over 50 years, I have not become addicted to anything and stopped using when I could no longer grow my own, I had no problems stopping, just as I can refrain from alcohol when I want to.
Smoked on and off for over 50 years? Sounds like addiction to me.

A few years back we stopped on CClub site near Edinburgh, I needed a repeat prescription so called at a GP surgery and while waiting noticed a sign on the wall “ would patients please refrain from slashing the seats as these have just been re covered “ also noticed the almost continuous stream of visitors coming into a drug dispensing area and leaving shortly after.
I took my prescription to a small pharmacy a short distance away and was surprised to see a full time security guard just inside .
I guess drugs are good for you

No I did not say that if you decide to break the law that’s your decision and you will have to take the consequences😊

The Police can do a roadside test to determine if it is likely someone is over the limit with alcohol in their blood. Is there a similar roadside test for other drugs? If not it would be difficult to enforce any laws allowing 'some' use of drugs. What would be the limit?
I have no idea how the test is performed but there's already a drug/driving limit.

That doesn't even make sense.

What have you been smoking?

No drugs aren't good for you. Do you drink? If so, it's not good for you.
Would you believe it I was in Norwich once, late, and I saw people fighting as they left a drug den - (aka Pub).
Plus drunks in A&E abusing staff while "high" (aka off their face).
Explain to me the difference.

I think it may not make sense if you are seeing butterflys and ladybirds crawling all over the screen and thinking your brain has two halves like a dolphins.

But once you come down let me know which bits don't make any sense.

You don't get how some people on a forum could be pro-vaccine whilst some other people on a forum admit to have taken drugs?

As I stated in earlier post #47

As the OP I raised this as a subject that is always a degree controversial and raises many issues, not for political reasons.
I do not believe that recreational/social drugs of any kind are sensible. Most people can consume sensibly but the pain and direct/indirect cost caused by misuse and addiction is unhelpful and often end up a burden on the health service .
I don’t know what the costs of tobacco and alcohol misuse are but to potentially add further problems by taking another step up the drug ladder by encouraging the use of cannabis only makes sense to those that need a kick, many of who will in the end be sorry they ever started.
I used to smoke but totally stopped over 25years ago and wish I never had started.
I like beer wine spirits etc and have been under the table a few times in my life but only take the odd glass of wine or malt now, but I am fortunate that I can take it or leave it but many cannot and that’s where the problems lie.

As for my home City Norwich , yes I believe what you say , Prince of Wales Road is the club area and the behaviour of many of the drunk/drugged up young folk are nothing to be proud of but typical of that in many of our cities, oh and also when our young go on the binge abroad , no pride no respect.

In the 60s as a youth living in the country 7 miles from Norwich , it was the place to go for different entertainment venues, great fun and lots of young ladies but then the behaviour was good and always a safe place to be any time of night or day.

I was so with you on this until you introduced the dreaded Macca.
If he has ever taken drugs then he should have taken a lot more. Far too Val Doonican for me.
Not enough Joe Cocker
Bad example, I'll give you that

I think your reading it the wrong way round.

Some people want anyone who WON'T inject themselves with a fully tested, proven safe, no side-effects, non addictive drug which will only be good for you put under house arrest.

While others are happy for themselves or others to inhale or inject un-known, untested, proven unsafe, addictive, dangerous drugs to be free to roam the streets and carry out normal day to day activities.

They may not have vehicles and hate the poisonous smoke that camper vans belch out.

Where do we stop?

I agree with your highlighted sentence but what a boring life it would be if we only did sensible things.
My rule is that if what I do to myself does no harm to anyone else then that is my business.
