Where does your forum name come from?

Any ex forces stationed in Germany 70s / 80s might remember BFBS radio and the tales of Bigwood.
The last rally I drove before being posted away from my co driver was the Bigwood Rally. I still have the trophy we won.

jolly is short for jollymarbles which was an affix for the kennel club. J (grandson first letter) O (granddaughter) L (daughters first letter and second daughter also L both endiing in Y. mar (my name) B (our surname) and Les (hubby).

In a past life I grew and sold Bonsai, mainly starter trees but kept a few decent ones and sold most of them on a web site called Bonsaiman so have used the name on a number of media sites every since 🌳🌲🙂 cos I can remember it 😆😆

If I were North of the border, (England/Scotland) I'd be incorrectly called a sassenach cos me Ma wis frae Airdrie but as a proud Tyke doing missionary work in Cornwall, (I'm trying to get the locals to allow the holiday makers to leave with a bit of money at the end of their hols.), I'm proud to be called an Emmit even though the locals think its a derogatory term.

My now wife joined us both up 5/6 years ago so used her name Tina plus second name initial "L" for Louise, so named the Avatar TinaL, As its me that mostly posts on here, I assumed the "L" was an abbreviation of my name Les.
But it wasn't apparently, she always gets in 1st, and I know my place, its a much quieter life that way, resistance is futile!
But I always sign out with my name in Bold Capitals, just to make my point and let you all know I am still alive.;)
LES
Hi Les, yes I noticed that and I like it. I like to know who I am talking to.

Ex mode

The ex mode is an extension of command mode. To get into it, press Esc and then : (the colon). The cursor will go to the bottom of the screen at a colon prompt. Write your file by entering :w and quit by entering :q. You can combine these to save and exit by entering :wq. However, if you're finished with your file, it's generally more convenient to type Shift-z-z from command mode.

Contraction of my maiden name - headmaster at primary school once called my big sis that - and simply continued the practice once she left and I started. Went on to the same senior school as the other Jennifer in the same class so she and others continued calling me that - in fact her husband still does but only when talking about me to anyone else who happens to know. Also two of the Susans at senior school had contractions of their surnames too. Wasn't any other Felicity, so our mate Fliss was safe there!

When internet as we know it started to form a friend of mine found hotmail, a place where everyone could have an e-mail address and there I went. Tried various combinations of my real name and the name my friends call me and they were all taken. Then I looked at the livingroom table and there was a powerdrill on it so I started using it (porakone in finnish) here and there, and shortened it for international use.

Slightly hilarious reactions if I ever have to tell my e-mail address somewhere in person. I also have a firstname.surname@ -address but it's not a finnish name so I just use the powerdrill - in finnish - everywhere.

On another forum I was Mel B (shortened first name and first letter of surname) but it was already taken and as Judgemental (RIP) had called me a Minx on that forum I used that whilst I tried to come up with something else, then people for some reason thought I was a bloke so I became Minxy, but some STILL thought I was a bloke so I became Minxy Girl, however as I'm now well known on here I decided to change to Minxy again ... so far so good!
