What have you fixed on your motorhome this week?

Fixed a faulty DAB aerial - by pressing the reset button on the radio :swear2:. Replaced the 'orn. My dog managed to burn out the original :Eeek:.

My Hymer door lock... fitted new spring inside.

Took over a year to think about it and then ten minutes to fix it...

(The spring cost 50 centimes from one ferramentas shops in Silves.)

Flap covering fuel cap, bit snapped two weeks ago. Superglued, seems ok. Bin on interior hab door, bit snapped off two days ago, superglued, seems ok. Throttle management control went three days ago in Sardinia, van limped to garage the following day and now 400 English Pounds lighter. Superglue of no use. Just thankful that one of the garages I emailed replied stright away and fitted me in, I was so grateful and the mechanics were brilliant. They diagnosed the fault with a large computer-type thingy and were most impressed when I showed them I had recorded the same problem using a cheap OBD2 bluetooth adapter from Ebay and an app on my tablet!

"Fixed" fridge gas problem. I think, after a year of on & off trying, I've finally nailed it. The wrong burner was installed prior to my owning the van.

David, to answer your question yes I am properly dressed, to explain the picture. It's at Stratford and the wardrobe malfunction is my race day enclosure pass, but you are correct it looks very wrong so possibly time for a change.

Martin

The bl**dy fridge. After two years of (not continuous :)) cleaning & replacing bits then testing whilst away I have finally got it working properly on gas. It always lit, always stayed lit, always appeared to be working. But the lowest temperature ever achieved was 7.5 degrees overnight. It warmed up from there throughout the day.

I replaced a faulty gas thermostat, cleaned the burner and flue until they shone, then decided that as it was the only thing left I'd change the burner. Which looked to be in good order and burned properly - but it was the wrong burner!!! Whilst I was checking spares lists & part numbers it became apparent that someone had fitted a burner for a bigger fridge (for Thetford aficionados it was a 5 slot burner and the correct one is a 4 slot). Anyway at mid-setting on the 'stat it has stayed below 4 degrees for the last two days and nights. That'll do me. Bl**dy fridge :mad:.

Replaced the near side mirror mounted indicator repeater that a kind lorry modified for me in France ( and who promptly buggered off ! )
Got a replacement from fleabay for £8.. Only to find while the original one had an orange dome inside it thereby allowing standard clear bulbs to be used, the new lens had nothing of the sort and needed an orange bulb
Me being me, I removed the broken lens from the old body ( immersion in a bowl of boiling water soon released it), then removed the lens from the new unit which I fitted on the old body ( using a glue gun as usual )
The only issue was that while the original had been put together using hot glue as is the norm for these things, the new one had been superglued
I ended up using the Dremel and CUTTING the new lens off its body.. No biggy really but a bit of a pain making a 10 minute job a half hour one !

not so much the van but a bit of bike kit.
We use Scala team rider pro bluetooth headsets
Late last year my unit decided not to talk to anyone..
I could hear Woman, hear the GPS, hear the phone, but no one could hear me..
Started to investigate but need a T2 torx to split the unit open.. Unable to get one at the time I shelved the thing
Tonight I decided to take another look.. Either drill the bloody heads off or use some other method involving brute force.. After all, it did not work so nothing to loose..
Tried a drill.. the screws are as hard as diamonds ! tried a few other things and gave up in disgust !

Sat it beside me on the bench and started searching for a replacement..
Where it sat was under a desk light.. And I noticed the light glinting off most of the contacts but not the last one,,
Had a closer look and somehow it had become very slightly bent out of wack
A quick fettle with a really small screwdriver got it back more or less straight..
Not holding out for too much I slapped it all back together and YES !! Darned thing started working..
WELL pleased to say the least !
