What have you fixed on your motorhome this week?

As an update.

The fridge has been on all night in a closed van, the wardrobe is this morning nowhere near as hot as it was yesterday.

My unscientific temperature measurement this morning says the wardrobe is 15 degrees centigrade cooler that it was yesterday morning at the same time.
just wondering if you are going to reverse it in winter to keep your wardrobe warm or vent warm air to habitation area ;)

Dropped a steel bar through the dining table so my son patched the hole and re lacquered the surface, joy's have having a qualified carpenter in the family!

Ginger.Tog

they came from a company called Luxell in the UK. I believe they sell on eBay as well

quality is ok , I did have to dress some of the edges and adjust the fit of a couple of pieces.

The radio aerial on our Rienza is fitted to the n/ s mirror arm. The flexible base is perished causing it to lean back as soon as we set off not helping radio reception.
Not wanting to go through ordering and waiting for delivery I managed to unscrew the aerial and slid a piece of heat shrink over the base and warmed it. Hopefully it will be a bit more ridged now. If not I will buy a new aerial and hope the delivery dosnt go astray.

My Hymer failed MOT last week on emissions. Tester reported a cracked injector or something like that, workshop is taking bookings late October :(. They said they would try and get to it earlier....

Well hopefully an internal wall, a damp issue , an internal handle on the hab door and the circular bits of wall paper which hide some of the fixings - I’ll let you know after my 3 hr run to Birmingham to collect it from the warranty dealer tomorrow !!

I fixed the stupid way Weinsberg or whoever fitted the stereo and the USB connections to the Pioneer Stereo.

Cables routed out of hole drilled in the side of the dashboard ….

A grand total of £6 got me a USB plug to fit into the dashboard and fitted

I fixed the cupboard in the kitchen.

More *ahem* expensive Knaus versions come with three drawers in the kitchen. Weinsberg have two and a cupboard.

But access is a pain and there are pipes etc in the way.

Solution…make a drawer. Does lose some storage but the convenience outweighs.

Following on from here :

The Pioneer stereo that came with my Weinsberg is great so far , but the digital radio is rubbish not being able to hold any signal.

I was investigating adding a separate digital aerial but noticed when I took the air vent off to see unit the aerial lead from the aerial splitter was not screwed tight onto back of the unit.
Fixed it and yesterday driving full digital radio while driving 📻

A tinkering weekend

We have been having an issue with the shower hose getting tangled under the sink.

Tidied up and added anti chafe to the pipes where they cross over the seat belt support

Tidied up the electric cupboard and battery cupboard wiring , I added a few extras for my solar install plus replaced the main fuses for B2B with a circuit breaker , and a CBE engine battery trickle charger I had in the workshop in here so wanted it to be neater and used slotted trunking to tidy plus added a Victron Smart Shunt that I won in a competition !

I think the Weinsberg wiring while neatish and good quality it is not hidden here. Still thinking about that one. I’m used to my old concord where I think the wiring was better hidden and maybe cabinet quality was better 🤣

Last night while away could hear a humming noise during the night.
Tried turning the heating up/down/off - no luck
Tried the fridge still no luck.
Finally sorted it this afternoon.
Crawled all over the van listening as everything was switched off.
Tracked it down to a USB powered fan that we bought for when it's 🔥.
It's a touch controlled and Stored on the overhead shelf and had been knocked when stowing stuff away.

Put new vinyl in the bathroom. a new hinge on wardrobe door and strengthened a shelf .
Basically redoing previous owners botch ups

domestic pull out taps have a lead weightclamped on the hose to give them a degree of auto retract id try some strips of lead wound round the lowest point of the hose

Hi mitzimad

I have thought of that but don’t want it clonk swinging around and the pipe is pretty short I’ll see how this fix goes …

spent a wet afternoon dismantling the remains of the electric step, bent after I reversed into a bank with it down whilst at Carnac last month. Still need to get the most badly damgaed bits off- then they're off to a mate to get some heat on them and hammered straight again.

A couple of years ago I slightly bent the step when I caught it on a low wall as I drove off - the step alarm had failed.:frowny:The step still worked so I decided to live with it.
A couple of days ago I caught it again on a low wall - sheer carelessness - as I reversed onto a motorhome dump point. The step is now perfectly straight again:Grin:

Finally cleaned the roof
