What have you fixed on your motorhome this week?

Re-tensioned both my large Seitz Blinds and replaced one central catch - available from O'Learys.

Like the fans, did something similar on ours

Fridge seemed to work better after

Only down side is there is a slight background humm when on as noise travels through the woodwork. Ideally want to be rubber mounted. How noisy are yours?
Another upgrade rather than a fix for the Cheyenne. Added a 150W solar panel to go with the existing 100W which I installed 2 years ago. The 100W installation has been very useful in keeping the batteries topped up but, with a compressor fridge, it showed its limitations once or twice last year. As you can see, it is a very, very snug fit:whistle2:

The EC325 solar charging is now redundant as it has now been replaced with a Votronic MPP 250 Duo with an LCD Solar Computer display. Should squeeze every last electron out of the sunshine now.

Yes, I know, the rest of the roof needs cleaning as well..... :giggler:
Bit late now but did it not fit better turned 90 as wouldn't be up against the skylights? Unless its a perspective thing.

They are very quiet - they are rubber mounted at the four securing point. The centre fan has a speed controller - pointless after testing it because it only seems to go fast or faster! The two outside fans are just on/off.
They are mounted to draw air out, through the top vent BUT could be moved if needed.

I had no choice - that was the only space on the roof where it fitted - and that's with just a gnat's whisker of separation for the brackets! It's only the toilet skylight which might possibly cast a shadow and then it would be insignificant.

Completing that job, the Remis skylight at the front finally gave up the ghost and I've spent 2 1/2 hrs this morning removing it and prepping for the replacement - that mastic didn't want to let go!:swear:

Well further to the earlier separate post about the Sargent EC200 PSU 2007 charger switch acting seriously badly.
I have now removed the front of the case (by drilling out the pop rivets) and the switch - the switch itself is seriously corroded and worn badly

So a new one has been ordered surprisingly they are single throw double pole type so now awaiting the new switch arriving so I can reassemble the unit and refit it so we can use the van again

As mentioned earlier, my Remis Vario 1 900x600 rooflight finally gave up the ghost a few days ago with a worn-out worm drive. I managed to breathe another year of life into it by stripping it down last year and I wasn't expecting to have to completely replace it but spares for the Vario 1 are just about impossible to source now.

Anyway, it was on to the net to see what was available and the prices caused a sharp intake of breath. They're expensive bits of kit, aren't they? I didn't hesitate long on the Narbonne Accessoires site - €730! Most were between €550-650. Finally found one on the mon-camping-car.com site at €534.99 with free delivery. They didn't have the fitting kit for a thicker roof (40mm on my Cheyenne) so I had to go elsewhere and I found one at €83 delivered.

I received an email from mon-camping-car.com accepting the order and informing me that it would be delivered direct from their supplier. Three days later and a knock at the door found a man with a large box on a palette, so well pleased with the speed of delivery - this is France, you know :whistle2:

Opening the delivery note it had come direct from their supplier - Narbonne Accessoires! I'll never understand how business economics work - but I'd have been mighty peeved if I'd bought it from them!

It took longer to take out the old one this morning than it did fit the replacement - helped by the glorious sunny day we've had here today. Seems a lot more sturdy and easier-moving than the old one, so well pleased with my day's work(y)

Interesting that you don't appear to have a roof-top upper vent for your fridge but instead have a side mounted one.

Same as with most others I have seen, including my Hymer, 2 wall mounted vents for the fridge, one top and one bottom. The top one is where I have put my cooling fans too. Mind you I only use a cover on the bottom one in winter. I have a roof vent as well but it is for the tech tower oven, not the fridge.

Ah, that might be the reason then, we don't have a tech-tower with an oven, our oven is fitted below the sink.

Have used Fans on Fridges for years

You should always fit to the top as extractor fans as that encourages the air to leave the space behind the fridge.
If you try to blow the air IN then it may not find it's way and vent elsewhere - our fridge also vents towards the cooker

Nope, both on the side. Above the freezer is the oven which has a rooftop’ chimney type vent.
Time will tell if the fans work.

Very well so far. Fridge noticeably cooler in hot weather (from memory!!).
Good stuff. We’ve not tried our van in hot weather yet but it was my perception that the fridge wasn’t particularly good.
I put in a Bluetooth temp monitor in both freezer & fridge and although the freezer is great, the fridge temp was going from 1 to 10 degrees C.
I found too many variables (internal van temp, outside air temp, van heating on, length of time on gas/EHU, external humidity, how full fridge was) to try and be analytical so decided to bung the fans in and see how it goes.

Passenger seat which wouldn't stay up. Adjusted cable operated mechanism, now ok.
Got gas heater working.
Gas cooker hob. Grill.. radio.
Have yet to check fridge.

Ooh lots! Having just acquired Rosie our 03 CI Caprio, she's in a very sorry state and we've taken on a labour of love.
So far I have washed all the removable covers and curtains as they were really stinky and done a deep clean of the whole of the interior. She came with a full toilet o_Oo_O at no extra charge and DH sorted this out wearing goggles and a face mask to which I liberally applied olbas oil! It had sat full since last ssummer we believe. I hoovered an entire dog up from the floor and all the books and crannies too. She smells lovely and fresh now.
DH has been sorting out opening a seized exterior locker, the electrics, the plastic side skirt damage and fixing bent /stuck hinges on all the lockers and doors.
Really been enjoying it and starting to grow more fond of her as we see the transformation.
Appreciate this forum and help immensely.

Went to the garden centre and got a section of wire mesh. Shaped it into a “basket” to fit below travelling seats for storage of blankets, etc.

Had new front brake discs and pads fitted this morning by our independant Mercedes garage, quick job and fairly priced.

9 days for ours
I phoned them again yesterday and they have still not sorted the problem with the charging side of the e box. They where going to try something else yesterday afternoon and let me know today still heard nothing. Rest of box worked ok it was just the charging side.
If they can’t fix it might have to put extra charger in.
Did you pay extra for there priority service.

Steve

no but obviously youve got more problems than i had its a fixed fee so look at it that your getting your monies worth they seemed very profesional when i spoke to them and i got the impression they would do what ever was necessary

Just got the van back from its MOT. Passed first time, no advisories. Not bad for 20 years old. Having the strap and water pump done in a couple of weeks, need a new leisure battery, and might start saving for a set of airbags for the back end. Then we're off to Newquay for my birthday. Hopefully the surf will be up. See you on the road.

Well done Wildbill, not bad for a thread started in 2013!!

Spent the morning on my back emptying cans of waxoil and stonechip tar underseal under the jollybus.

Dirty job but happy with the results. Looked solid and immaculate for a 14 year old motorhome and the added protection will help to extend it further. :)

Decided to take the van out for run. Started up set off to reverse round the garage. What’s that scraping says my wife? Don’t know I’ll have a look. Exhaust on the floor all four rubber mounts had broken. Luckily I had a spare set in the locker. After 20 minutes on my back in the cold and wet we finally set off for run up the Dales. Had a walk up Pen Y Ghent. Then late lunch at the Station at Ribblehead.

Quite correct ,the rubber mounts should be the re-enforced type ?
