Two of the thin black cords on our hab door Horrex concertina fly screen had broken making it a right pain in the rear end to use.

I have been on the lookout on flea bay over the pasts few months for a second hand one but nothing our size has been listed.
As new Horrex fly screens are a stupid price and we hate the chenille door curtains as a replacement I decided to repair it.

With having the memory span of a goldfish I always photograph key areas of thing I'm going to repair and pull apart before I start and during disassembly which in this case proved invaluable when reassembling.

The job looks a bit daunting but with patience and thinking it through it's not to hard a job just a bit fiddly.

Basically the cord that Horrex use is not up to the job and I know of a few others that have had theirs fail, so with a nod to @Lenny HB for his suggestion in a previous thread to use kevlar kite line I remade all the cords with 1.3 mm kevlar kite line. With hindsight I think the 1.1mm line may have been a better choice as the 1.3 mm I used I think is a little to stiff but it still works ok and may well loosen up in time.
I bought a cheap bootlace crimping tool and crimp ferrules kit from Amazon to make off the cord ends as per the original cords were.

The job took about 3.5 hours and I'm well pleased with the results.

If anybody wants to have a go at repairing their Horrex fly screen then I can let them have links to the kevlar cord and crimping tool plus give them a run down on how I went about it.

I made the same mistake with the cord thickness, I only replaced one cord it didn't notice. I didn't need crimps the cords were clamped into an alloy block with screws.

I replaced all the cords to save having to go thought the same process again as the other cords would have inevitably broken before to long. The cords on our blind are on loops through the mesh material and crimped to a main lines with what looks to be wiring boot lace ferrules, with the line end stops using the same method.

Done and dusted! the port was a Toyota one (£4.95) so I had to make a small adjustment at the back of it.

Easy way to do it really, no drilling holes in the dash just remove a blank. The switch to the right turns the port on and off

This week I mended the Hartal Door Blind on our MH.

I'd been looking at it for weeks and it annoyed the sh*t out of me like that - took about 10 min!

I have been having a bit of a fiddle and wired in a couple of relays and now we can have lights and use the loo on the move if caught short and it's not practical or safe to pull over and stop in our British build van. (y) I'll now sit back and wait for all the helpful comments. ;)

Haven't fixed anything this week, too cold out there and snowing. Not going to repair anything till at least the end of February. Then I have a Eberspacher type diesel heater to fit. ( Chinese cheapo one)

I will also just sit back and think to myself " I'm glad I'm not in the van"

You might want to consider fitting a seat belt just to be safe ... :D

here's hoping it's not too expensive

Had an intermittent voltage reading for the cab battery on the control panel. Tracked it down to a bad crimp on the cable connection to the 50A fuse holder. Fitter had crimped onto the insulation not the bare wire. Had been running a bit warm as insulation slightly brown.
Idiot had done the same on the other crimp connector too, oh and looks like pliers were used for the crimp rather than a crimping tool.
And they charge how much for this crap workmanship!

Fitted sticky backed foil/closed cell neoprene sound deadening/insulation material to the to the inner side of the cab door skins today along with a pair of JBL door speaker to replace the crap Peugeot ones.

The sound deadening behind the new JBL speakers goes towards improving the sound quality even more.

Look at the difference in weight between the original Peugeot speakers and the JBL's.

I’ve juast fitted some Vibe speakers under lockers because one of the original pod speakers had started rattling.
Had to cut holes but I think they look ok and the sound is a lot better.
I modified a food tub to cover the speakers in the cupboard

Original pods, couldn’t find replacement speakers
