What have you fixed on your motorhome this week?

sod all again
Ok so nothing this .week but I have fitted a second leisure battery a 100 Watt solar a single gas it refillable outside filler and removed the over large table top with a smaller one from eBay removed the mattress and other bits from the drop down bed and now use this for storage fitted a dash cam permanent wiring and next will be a reversing camera an extra 240volt socket and aerial point for the tv

Yesterday I unblocked my grey tank drain pipe...

It was taking ages to empty out as I drove along, and thus was increasing the chance of being spotted by someone, who would then have to post a thread about it, and cause a shortage of popcorn...

I mended my grey waste outlet pipe as I knocked it off ft on a kerb reversing into a parking space.

Personally, I think it's better than when Mr Carthago fitted it at the factory now! (y)(y)

Ok not fixed, fitted two new batteries and washed it to within an inch of its life, oh I did fix the strap on top of the hab door which keeps popping out due to the last gust of wind which ripped it out of my hand

We bought our Elddis Autoquest 175 because the layout best suited what we wanted from a motorhome, but the one thing has niggled us has been the daft place Elddis fitted the upper bathroom cabinet. Being low over the wash basin it means you have to crank your head down to get under it to get over the basin. Obviously Elddis had listened to criticism and moved the cabinet from over the basin to the side wall on the next generation of the Autoquest 175’s.
Solution, I move the cabinet to a new positon. Not that simple as the false top section of the cabinet hides the wiring come through for the rear view cameras and the high level stop light. The way around this was to cut this false top section off and fit it back to hide the wiring and make a new cabinet top section to suit it’s new position on the side wall above the loo. I had a new mirror made to size to cover the screw holes from the old cabinet position and fitted a couple of matching downlighters above the mirror to finish it off. Unfortunately Elddis do not hold stock of any furniture boards as all their motorhome and caravan internals they say are bought in ready made from Italy, so I had to use the nearest match I could get, not ideal but we can live with it.

Fixed the tension on the remis blind in the lounge area, not a big deal but it's been an inconvenience for two years!

Strictly speaking I havent fixed anything , the dealer we bought the van from has though.......Some under warranty , couple more as extras and free of charge , couple paid for by me.

MOT......basic oil/filter service......cam belt & water pump renewal (freebie ) ...... new front pipe on exhaust...new rear shock absorbers......rear bumper repair (to a poorly finished previous repair) under warranty ....couple of internal repairs , under warranty. That lot should keep us rolling and on the road,,,,,,,,,,,,Next job will be a new set of tyres which I will receive in a week or so from the supplier.

@Rudski01 ... Looks like your MH has had a massive seagull attack! :ROFLMAO:

Refitted the throttle cable to the fuel pump whilst stuck in traffic in the fast lane of the M6. Had to remove a boost pipe to get at it. All good fun. And on the morning we started out, missus noticed a oily patch on the tarmac. 2 brake slave cylinders later...... Didn't even get to start my holiday without fixing something.

I don't usually 'do' anything, mainly down to ineptness on my part, but this week I have found and hopefully fixed a weep leak on our feed to black tank that was causing a pong in the MH

On top of that I also squirted some WD40 generally towards the moving bits of our step and appear to have fixed that at same time :)(y)

I haven't fixed anything myself but I arranged for a couple of my people to replace a broken rear number plate light... MOT a week tomorrow.

So it was you dribbling grey waste all over the country? Everybody got blamed & shamed- but it was YOU all the time :D

All the taps conked out. A bit of an inconvenience as we are in week 4 of 8 weeks in Portugal. Quickly solved by a 'search' of previous posts on MHF to see where the fuse is. During my search I saw a post from @JeanLuc about the speed of water flow being affected on Hymer by the way the pump is wired (blue being live), I swapped the wires around and the water flows 4 times as fast! Thank you @JeanLuc.

Two jobs this week
  1. Fitted a new 400x400 Remis rooflight over the rear bed. The old one was showing serious signs of fatigue due to lots of UV exposure over 15 years.
  2. Examined, cleaned and retreated the underfloor at the rear of the van. On this vintage of Hymer it comprises a plywood/foam sandwich and the exterior needs regular treatment with underseal to prevent deterioration.
