Think the title should be : What have you :swear2:on your motorhome this week.

I managed to :swear2:the rooflight over the bedroom, It's a biggy too 900 x 600. Had to order one today and cheapest I could find was £450

I'm curious :D.. how did you manage to :swear2: the rooflight ????

Went round with a needle and cotton sewing up any loose stitching. How boring is that.

When we bought the MH the rooflights were both seized, with plenty of lube I managed to get the lounge working perfectly but when I tried the same with the bedroom one I only manage to raise it around 6 inches and then it wouldn't budge either way.
I got up on the roof to have a chat with it and persuade it to close but as I was persuading it SNAP, a big chunk of rooflight broke off:swear2:
I then had to hacksaw the hinge off to get it to close.
Hopefully the new one is arriving tomorrow.
To be honest even if I'd got it working it probably wouldn't have been too great so it's a blessing in disguise ( that's what I'm telling myself and my wife )

I'm assuming you mean the de-scale.

I simply added some of this (well 14 boxes to be honest) and left it in the tank after running it through all the pipes and heater.

Then ran the pump and filled up the grey tank, so did the 2 tanks in one hit.

Then simply flushed it all through as clean as a whistle:)

Might prevent you having to gain access from a ramp?

Thanks for the info, 14 boxes in what size tank please?

Mine is 136lts so quite a size, but did the job quite nicely.

Dissolved 7 boxes at a time in a separate water container and mixed with hot water. Made sure it had fully dissolved before putting in the tank and then left for 48 hours. I run it through all pipes and the water heater and then left the heater on.

Mind you on the second day I spent most of it polishing the bodywork and kept on running off the hot water straight down the sink and then held it in the grey tank for another 48 hours. Must have run the hot water heater until it went cold half a dozen times, just to clear out any possible scale etc.

Then I flushed and flushed and flushed some more, all pipes, the heater etc. Emptied completely and then flushed more.

Hope it helps.

Fitted external Gasit filler point, managed to squeeze it onto the top corner of the gas compartment.

Gas locker lock was bust when I got it and had to keep wedging the door shut with some rolled up baby wipes, Visit to toolstation and bought a new 32mm cam lock for just shy of a fiver swapped out the old one and fitted the new one in 5mins.

Often worth checking you cant get either the same or similar part from elsewhere that doesn't have the motorhome mark up

Pair of new rear tyres today. They weren't worn but they were old. Glad they've gone. Also Glenn bought a scooter.:)

Fitted a new cartridge into the aquapure filter but took the unit off and cleaned the inside as well.

Yesterday I replaced the wiring to two mains sockets I had installed (To replace the one socket which is now wired up to the inverter). I replaced the 1.5mm cable with 2.5mm cable.
I don't intend using ALL the available watts/amps these two bad boys can accept but I thought, "What the Hell"

Today I gave the floor a clean followed by a coating of Johnson's 'Klear' Acrylic Wax. It gives the floor of the van a lovely glossy shine that lasted our 7 week euro trip. This product ceased production in 2007 and we obtained a bottle following the demise of SWMBO's father.
I have discovered that the 'Klear' is now called Pledge 'Klear' Multi Surface Wax. and is available at Sainsburys for about £3.15 for 750ml.

Well recommended.

Fixed the water pump we can now use the tap's agan.
Her in doors was complaining abut it for ages
Take a but fifteen min to do back in the good books.
Sent the weeman off to park with orders not to return for at least one hour
:)

You have put them on the wrong side, they should be on the lower right so as to be seen easily from the roadside in the country of issue. The trouble is you will also need a French one then a German one and eventually will not be able to see out of your windscreen. Could be the best bet to laminate them and make a holder to stick the appropriate one in. Also if you have to have your windscreen replaced you will have to apply for them all again.
Life's a bitch. I really can't believe just how joined-up the European Union is.

Hi steve.

Thanks for info.

I've always put them on the left hand side looking out, just above where tax discs used to be.

Last time I put one in the bottom left it was then in the wiper arc and failed the MOT !

My friend did as you suggest and put them into a holder and got fined for not sticking them on !

The link below from Austria says on the left looking out or in middle behind the mirror.

Following on from the "wide angle camera" thread in which @campa cola had fitted side facing cameras, I too have just fitted a side facing camera so I can safely see what's coming from the left at junctions when abroad if the co-pilot is not with me or asleep. Also bought and fitted another 9" monitor, this time with four camera inputs to replace the existing two camera input unit to view the two rear facing cameras and the new side viewing camera on.

My apologies I thought they were emission stickers not for tolls, indeed the instructions do say on the drivers left. German or French emissions stickers should be on the drivers right hand side at the bottom for motorhomes, at the top for cars basically so they are roughly at eye level for being viewed from the roadside in France & Germany. But for UK vehicles it can be a problem for the MOT.

No worries, my van is too old for and for any emissions sticker I think it might be a Euro 3 !
